The #Saints Are Not Close, A Dismal Performance Against The Rams Was Proof In Tyler Shough’s Debut

Welcome to the car and I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the New Orleans Saints, which is pretty simple. This team is not close. This team is not a contender and they probably won’t be showing any signs of turning things around here in 2025. There’s just too many sort of deficiencies around the team. And I really appreciated what veteran safety Justin Reed said after the game, which was that we can sit here all day and point out all of the things that they do wrong, but what this team really needs to prove is that they have some solutions ready to go. So far, we haven’t seen many solutions. Now, the team does feel that it has the right coach leading the way and head coach Kell Moore. Although, as an offensive guru, obviously, we haven’t seen his offense really take hold so far. They’re trying to figure out if they have the right quarterback. This was rookie Tyler Shuck’s first career start, but it’s a start that’s hard to evaluate considering the fact that the Saints held the football for only 16 minutes and 7 seconds and ran only 40 offensive plays throughout the game, which is the which is tied for the second fewest plays in a game so far this season. So coming out of this Rams game, I think you learned a lot about how far away the New Orleans Saints are. How they get closer is now going to be the most interesting path forward for this team. Can’t expect anything to turn around here in 2025, but certainly expecting some big changes in the 2026 offseason. Most of those probably centering around the roster. But until then, this is a team that has to prove that it has the ability and the dedication to not really stay the course, cuz I don’t think they want to do that either, but to stay locked in enough at least to continue to support and develop the young talent that it hopes that it has. So, we’ll see where things go for this team moving forward. But this game against the Los Angeles Rams should be proof positive that there are more concerns than there are promising signs around the New Orleans Saints here in 2025, nine games in to the Kell Moore era.

  1. Man!! I think Ellen Moore was the wrong hire! I would expect growing pains for things like game management, situational issues, play scripts. What I didn't expect from a (air quotes) offensive guru is terrible play designs, no innovation ect. I truly believe that he benefited from one of the best offensive lines every out together in both Dallas and Philly and both had top tier QBs and running backs. With talent like that, any mediocre play caller would look great. I simply don't see it. It's very difficult to look at. Yes we have a bad roster, but the cupboard is not bare. I'd wager Ben Johnson or Shanahan could avg north of 20pts+ per contest with this same group.

  2. 4th & 1, Taysom as single back,QB that hasn’t shown the ability to make a crucial play…. Did anyone think it was going to be anything other than the exact play that was run? No. And Kellen Moore is supposed to be an offensive guru? Cmon. No More Moore

  3. It’s fair to say that the defense isn’t getting off of the field and getting the ball back to the offense. It’s also fair to say that if you only have 40 plays you aren’t making first downs.

  4. Get a new Offensive Line coach. The QB can't do anything if he's running for his life. Also, Kamara can't run the ball if the Offensive Line can't open up holes for him. The OLine is being manhandled and pushed around. It all starts in the trenches. #1 problem. Solve that one and then you can have a true evaluation of the QB position. You only have to rewatch the 2009 season games to see what a good OLine looks like.

  5. Didn't expect anything but what happened today. They fed Shough to the wolves because the Rams are a tough team, and almost got his head took off on that helmet to helmet. But Rattler wasn't the issue and Tyler was going to have the same issues compound. Penalties, turnovers, play calling, injuries

  6. Coach Moore is a good man i respect him for giving Rattler a very short chance. But Coach Moore your too passive to nice to beta male . You need to address your offensive line ASAP, put boot to azz to players like Caezar Ruiz, Trevor Penning, and your beta Defensive Coordinator soft play schemes . This isn't a players participation trophies retreat for team bonding sir , this is the NFL . If you don't address the offensive line personnel issue and bench Caesar Ruiz or Trevor Penning your run game with never be establish . You will never be competitive sir if you don't shake things up. You will always get your azz handed to ya cuz these Hotshot Coaches like Sean McVay etc will always since blood in the water like sharks 🦈 cuz your whole mindset is passive and weak. Coach Sean McVay was just toying with you cuz he sensed a beta male traits . Your team is a reflection of you Coach . Most of your veterans have checked out , for the love of football logic activate the rookie TE Matavao the kid has great hands and is a big target. Juwan Johnson should be on the streets .

  7. I agree, so in my experiences the next step is firing management(GM Loomis) so you can start to restructure entire roster. I don't a QB in history that can make that offense look explosive 😂😂😂

  8. The way it looks right now is they won’t be contending in 2026 either. As I’ve been saying for a couple years now they have a bunch of mediocre players. That is not counting this year’s rookie class. Mckinstry is not what they thought. They should have gotten rid of all these over the hill players they have starting. Moore apparently hasn’t figured out anyone’s “super powers” yet. Chris Olave is not and probably never will be a number one receiver. For some reason none of the receivers seem to be able to get open consistently. It may be because of the play design or play calling. Moores still trying to figure “this thing” out. That has become annoying every time he says it lol. Hopefully they show some progress by season’s end.

  9. I will tell y'all that Sean Peyton before he left… Ass cheek offense, Pete Carmichael ass cheek offense, kubiak ass cheek offense, and finally Kellen Moore ass cheek offense, but all the players never really changed though. i really can't put 2 and 2 together can y'all figure out if coaching really is the problem?

  10. The ownership and front office are the biggest issues. You have Loomis and Ireland that want to pick their players instead of who the coaches want.
I do think Tyler Shough will be a top tier quarterback. It may not be in New Orleans but somewhere in the NFL. Until the ownership and front office changes this team is screwed.

  11. That's what some of us fans said about Rattler! But no, it was the QB. Now, there's no opportunity to rate the QB because of the talent around him? Give me a break! It's the same talent and system. I wonder what the real difference is?

  12. I said it weeks ago. Rattler will be a Baker Mayfield/Sam Darnold type in another offense. Then Saints fans will have the same regret as so many of its former starters and pro bowlers on other successful teams around the NFL. SMH
