PREDICTING The Red Sox 2026 LINEUP!! TRADES, SIGNINGS and MORE!!
So, what will the Red Sox do to make their offense better in 2026? What is going on everybody? Welcome back to Red Sea Radio. My name is Corbett. Thank you very much for clicking on this video. It’s everyone’s favorite time of year, the time where I get in front of this microphone and I try and predict exactly what the Red Sox are going to do for every part of their team. We do this in a bit of a three-part series, right? Where we talk about the overall part and talk about pitching and then we talk about the offense as well. We’re going to start this year with the offensive side of things. Last year, I wasn’t too far off in my prediction. I did say they were going to lean into youth, but I did also say that they’re going to pick up Tasks Oscar Hernandez and trade Masagi Yoshida. So, pretty hard to predict. And to do that, we got to start with the Surefires, right? The guys that we know are going to be on this 26-man roster. The really only two I think that are genuinely 100% going to be in the starting lineup come opening day, barring any sort of injury, are Roman Anthony and Carlos Narvay. I genuinely think outside of those two, these other positions are at least to some degree a little bit of a mystery, right? I think a majority of them we could figure out, but you know, there’s a lot of moving parts here that the Red Sox could end up with this off seasonason. I think this offense is going to look a bit different coming into 2026. The only other guy that I would say is is almost a almost a shirt thing is say Don Raphaela, right? Who just won his first gold glove by the way and should probably win a platinum glove, but it’s fan voting. So, we’ll see how that ends up. Regardless though, I think he’s like a 98% chance of coming back, right? I think there’s a 2% chance that there’s a team out there that just wants him so badly that the Red Sox are finally like, “Okay, we can make it work without, say, Don Raphaela.” Overall, I think he’s back with the Boston Red Sox. So, I am going to put him in center field. However, outside of that, we got to have a couple of pretty important conversations about basically every other position on the diamond. But before we do that, let’s talk about November a little bit. The month of November is better known on this channel as the month of Movember. If you’re new here, every year we dedicate the month of November to raising funds for the Movember Foundation. Now, this is a foundation that brings men’s mental and physical health awareness and opportunities to men across the globe. It is a fantastic organization. This month, you’re going to notice I’m growing out a mustache. And our goal this year as a community is to raise $3,000 for this November campaign. If we hit that goal by the end of November, I am going to be giving away two opening day tickets to the Red Sox 2026 season. It’s our biggest giveaway we’ve ever done on this channel. It’s our biggest goal we’ve ever tried to hit on this channel, and it is an absolutely fantastic cause. So, if you want to help reach our goal, potentially enter yourself into being able to go to opening day at Fenway Park, make sure to click the link in the description and donate today. Thank you all very much and let’s get back to the video. Okay, so the first thing I want to do is look at a lot of the internal options for the Boston Red Sox because I do think this is going to be a large portion of what the Red Sox figure out this off seasonason. I think a a majority of this lineup is going to be filled by internal slots that the team already has in their organization. and it just sort of needs to be weeded through. The first one I want to talk about here, I think prediction-wise that Trevor Story and the Red Sox get on the same page. He does have an opt out and we’re probably going to figure that out in the next 48 to 72 hours here. But I do ultimately think Trevor Story opts in. Boy, would this suck if my first true official prediction on this video is wrong pretty immediately. However, I’m not entirely sure that’s going to be as a shortstop. While Trevor Story really came together at the plate this season, the one big difference between Trevor’s story of the past and Trevor’s story this year, not only was his health, but it was his defensive ability. I mean, this was by far and away his worst defensive season at the major league level. It was the first year of his career where he was a negative defender in both defensive runs saved and outs above average. It was only the second time in his career that he has led for the most errors in the American League, right? just simply was not a fantastic shortstop this year. And I think a lot of that has to do with just plain aging, right? The dude is just simply getting older. And so for me, if he’s going to opt into this contract, I actually like the idea of him moving over towards second base, at least at some point this season. Now, I don’t know if this is something that happens opening day, but I do think this is something the Red Sox are strongly considering coming into 2026. He was an absolutely fantastic defender over there in 2022. There’s a little bit less range he’s got to cover. The arm plays a lot better. There will be a lot less throwing errors from Trevor Story at second base, which I think for the Red Sox going forward, especially having this focus on defensive improvement, Trevor Story at second base makes a lot of sense. So, that’s exactly where I’m going to predict he starts the season for this 2026 team. That also leaves the shortstop position open. A lot of people are going to say Bo Bashette. I think the Red Sox stay internal here. I think the Red Sox give Marcela Meyer the keys to shortstop at some point this year. I’m just going to say it’s opening day for the sake of this video. Now, Marcelo’s got a couple of things he’s got to prove at the major league level right now, right? First and foremost, most importantly, he’s got to prove that he stays healthy with this team, right? He hasn’t been healthy over his last three seasons. If he could stay healthy, I think at the bare minimum, you’re talking about an excellent defender at shortstop. I think we saw at points last season that the back can play at the major league level. You just got to sort of get used to it, put it together, and I think ultimately he will do that. Be more of a contact forward type player, but I believe in Marcel Myers’s talent and I think the Red Sox do too, and I think they ultimately stick him at shortstop. Okay, so those are sort of the two big internal conversations that we need to have here. This is where things get real interesting and let’s start by figuring out the rest of our infield. Obviously, we’re talking about the last two positions left in the infield here. The big one’s third base, right? Alex Bregman’s a free agent. A lot of people want him back. There’s a lot of people who don’t want him back, too. But I think overwhelmingly a lot of people do want him back. There’s a real world, I think, in which the Red Sox don’t bring him back. I don’t know that the Red Sox are sitting there desperate to have Alex Bregman on this team for the foreseeable future. I think they really want him on this team for the foreseeable future. But, you know, with the CBA agreement coming to an end after this year with a lot of teams close to playoff contention, I think there are going to be some desperate teams out there and it wouldn’t shock me to see a Xander Bogart Sandy Padres sort of Hail Mary type offered Alex Bregman that we all sit here and say, “Yeah, it wouldn’t have made sense for the Red Sox to match that.” So, if that is the case, I do think the Red Sox actually move Marcelo over to third base. They move Trevor Story back to shortstop and then they figure out second base from there. you know, Christian Campbell. We’ll talk about another option in a bit, but ultimately my prediction is that the Red Sox do bring back Bregman. I think there’s an overwhelmingly optimistic view as to Bregman and the Red Sox relationship heading into this off season. I do think a lot of people are not going to love the Alex Bregman contract that he ends up getting. I think, you know, it’s going to be somewhere in that 5-year with maybe a potential club option or something, maybe for a six season, and it ends up being in that $150 million range because I do think the Red Sox want this guy back, right? But I don’t think it’s a yeah, if he walks, he walks whatever type situation. I do think they love Alex Bregman and want to see him in a Red Sox uniform. It’s all just going to kind of in my opinion come down to what other teams are willing to spend, but ultimately I do think Alex Bregman is their third baseman going forward. Heyo Suarez has been thrown out there. I really don’t want the Red Sox to pick him up. Makami is another option out there. Again, another guy I wouldn’t love the Red Sox throwing a ton of money at. To me, if you’re going to look outside the organization at not Bregman for the third base spot, it has to be Kazuma. But again, ultimately, I’m gonna predict it ends up being Alex Bregman, which leaves just first base. This is another big conversation amongst Red Sox fans, right? Tristan Kasus is projected to be healthy at some point early on here. And in my opinion, he is going to be in this organization in some capacity. Whether that’s at the major league level or in AAA is a different conversation, but I don’t think the Red Sox end up trading Tristan Casus while his value is so low. However, I also don’t think the Red Sox will or can afford to put your faith in Tristan Casus being a major player on the Red Sox in 2026. He did that two years already and two years in a row it did not end up working out. So, I do think the Red Sox sit there and they say we need someone else to take over first base for the foreseeable future. And if Tristan Cautious works out, great. We have a situation that we need to figure out later on down the road. Now, the big name here is obviously Pete Alonzo, right? Everyone wants Pete Alonzo. I don’t know that the Red Sox are going to be totally in on him. I don’t know that the Red Sox are going to be willing to spend what it’s going to take to get Pete Alonzo in a Red Sox uniform, especially for a guy who’s not super great defensively and who most likely profiles out as a DH going forward for a majority of this contract. To me, a guy like Kazuma, who we talked about earlier in this video, makes a lot more sense, right? Not only can he play first and third base, but he’s he’s going to be on a shorter contract for less money, and he could potentially also be a guy who gives you 30 plus home runs in the major league level. That’s exactly what the Red Sox are looking for, especially with that super low strikeout rate he rocked over the last few seasons. So, to me, Kazuma, if the Red Sox are going to go outside the organization, is the guy they go and get at first base. And that’s my official prediction, which rounds out this in. We aren’t done yet, right? DH in the outfield still need to be figured out. For the DH role, I do think that the Red Sox do end up finally moving on from Masatakio Sheet. I know I predicted this last year and it didn’t end up happening, but you know, he’s on a little bit of a shorter deal now. There’s only two years left in his contract. He’s healthier than he was going into this season than he was going into last season. He proved at the end of this year that he can still swing it, that there’s still productivity in that bat. And I think finally you’re going to get a team who’s going to be willing to bite on a Masatag Yoshida contract if the Red Sox eat a whole bunch of the deal, which I do think they’re going to be willing to do. So that opens up the DH role. Now, my personal opinion, Kyle Schwarber would be the pretty clear and obvious answer as to who fills that empty slot on the roster. However, we know that not only do the Red Sox love Schwarber, but the Phillies do as well. And to me, I just don’t see the Red Sox being able to outbid Philadelphia, right? I think Dave Dumbrossski is a lot more risk-taking mentality than Craig Brezlo does. I think, you know, with Schwarber loving Philly, if they were to match contracts, I think he still ends up there. I just don’t see Philly letting this guy go, especially to the Boston Red Sox. So, I ultimately don’t think Kyle Schwarber comes back to this team. That doesn’t mean that nothing’s going to happen in that DH spot, right? It could end up potentially being a sort of rotational spot, right, where you get Christian Campbell in there and you just sort of rotate through and make sure guys stay healthy. The other thing I could see is them picking up quietly a guy like Jorge Palano who’s, you know, not the greatest defender in the world, but had a really good season offensively last year, going to be a little bit cheaper than Schwarber, going to be a little bit more versatile a bit, right? Not going to hit as many home runs or RBI’s, but going to strike out a little bit less. He’s going to be a guy who could potentially round out this lineup. And that’s going to be my official prediction for DH. I think they end up with a guy like Jorge Palano, unless there’s one specific scenario. But in order to talk about that, we got to talk about the outfield. All right, so the last spot we got to figure out is that outfield spot. And this is, I think, by far and away the biggest conversation amongst Red Sox fans right now. At least the biggest debate, right? Is it going to be Jiren Dan or is it going to be Will Abrau? In my opinion, it’s a total tossup. I do think one of them ends up getting traded this off season. I think the Red Sox have finally gotten to a point where they are comfortable moving one of these guys this off season. But who it is, I think totally depends on what the other team that they’re dealing with is looking for, right? Are they looking for a longer contract player, a guy under control for a longer period of time, or are they looking for someone to immediately spark this offense, right? A team like the Cincinnati Reds, in my opinion, would be much more interested and value Jiren Durant much higher than Will Abrau. But a team like the Twins or the Cardinals who’s a few years off of being competitive, maybe they value will a bit more because of that control. So I think it all ultimately depends. But if we have to pull straws here and figure out which one of these names is leaving. I do think ultimately it is Jiren Ren and I do think ultimately he is traded for a number two starting pitcher which would leave the outfield as Roman Anthony, Saddon Raphael and William Bray and technically we would be done here. We’ve got it all figured out, right? But there’s one little wrench I want to throw in here. Now, I don’t know how realistic this is. And I’ve been debating this entire video of even talking about this because I don’t really think this is ultimately going to happen. And I think ultimately this prediction right here, this offense that we’re looking at right now is what’s going to end up being the Red Sox offense in 2026. Let’s just talk about what the Red Sox need a little bit, right? They need less strikeouts. They need more RBI’s. They need a bit more power. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Kyle Tucker, who is every single one of those things and a little bit more. Right? I yeah, you sit there and you’re like, Corin, that’s never going to happen. And I get that. But with the DH spot open, if they don’t sign a guy like Jorge Palano and go big for a guy like Kyle Tucker, you can make this work, right? If you were to trade Masataki Yoshida, you can utilize that DH spot to be this sort of middle ground where you put Willu in every other day or Kyle Tucker in every other day or even Roman Anthony in every other day, right? And all of a sudden, you can fit four outfielders on a team while still being able to add a talent like Kyle Tucker. So my sort of fun prediction here is that it’s not the Red Sox signing Jorge Palano. It’s the Red Sox signing Kyle Tucker, trading Jiren Durant, and creating this sort of juggernaut outfield that has four different I mean legitimate superstar type players in there. So this one again I I I don’t know. I ultimately it would be a ton of fun. I know there are going to be a lot of questions about what’s the bench going to look like. In my opinion, it’s going to be Connor Wong. I do think they end up staying with him. It’s going to be Christian Campbell. It’s going to be Romy Gonzalez. and I think ultimately ends up being one of Soard or Eaton. I think they move on from David Hamilton this off season. I I don’t think they bring back Rob Reap Snder. As much as I would love to see him back, I just don’t know that there’s a ton of room. So, we got the bench there as well. Okay, so my official prediction is this one right here where you know they pick up Palano, they trade Durant, and this is ultimately their team for 2026. But my sort of unofficial Red Sox fan brain prediction is the one with Kyle Tucker because I can’t I just simply can’t get how impactful he would be out of my head and how much he would change this Red Sox offense. So I I have to put this in here. But I’m sure I did something that you guys are all going to hate. So let me know in the comment section down below. What do you think about this list? Either one. Which one would you prefer? And is there one you think is more realistic? Plus, what do you think the Red Sox lineup’s going to look like in 2026? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments. Sox should look at tatsuya iami to add to the rotation
Love the vids
Finally you are listening to me on polanco. It makes too much sense from breslows point of view.
What would you have the 1-9 line up be?
As much as Tucker would be awesome here the LA Dodgers are going to sign him. So here is a possible prediction. They trade Duran & Yoshida. Story stays and moves to 2b and Mayer to SS. If I were the Sox I would give Bregman a 5 or 6 year deal around 30 Mil a season, but have year 5 be an option year and year 3 as a mutual opt out year. So if he is still healthy for 2 years you have his bat, Fielding and mentorship for the youngsters. Sign Kazuma for your First Baseman as he is a much better fielder and should fit well here. for your DH, then you have the $$ to get Alonzo in here. So when you want to sit Kazuma to rest him you can place Pete at first but not hurt your everyday defense. I really think the Sox want to move on from Casas and will either have him on the bench or more likely in the minors to get his mojo back. He is just way too much an injury factor and I don't think his antics fit well with what Cora or Beslow want on the team. Anthony, Raffy and Abreu in OF and you have a really good defense as well, which is something we need to see the Sox improve on big time. All these moves I think should help to solve that. This is just my opinion, but not too bad. Also with Schwarber he already has said he wants to stay in Phily, so I think that one means no go for us. Nice job on your end though would not complain with your lineup either
I generally agree with you. I still think Breslow has someone in mind who hasn't even been thought about maybe I'm giving to much credit but I think there's a plan and we'll all know what it is soon 🤞⚾
I think moving on from Duran is inevitable. I also think that Alonso is the one they'll sink $$ into. I'd bet an Alonso-Casas rotation at 1st and DH would be ideal. Breggy, I love his leadership, but I believe he's going to get bigger money than the Sox are willing to send that way, I'm wondering if slotting Story at third and Mayer at SS would be the better option, that way you can use Romy and Kristian Campbell at 2nd. We'd then have an elite outfield in Anthony, Rafaela and Abreu, and an elite SS and good 2nd base combo. I bet $$ that Story would shine at 3rd base. That gives us power at 1st/DH, 3rd, and 20ish homers across the outfield. Duran and Yoshida on the trading block should bring in considerable pitching help, as well as throwing in David Hamilton in the mix. Don't forget the depth in AAA and AA that are logjammed behind the youth position players we have already, some of those players would add very good spice to any trade considerations.
Would like the Sox's to sign Bo Bichette and Kazuma Okamoto.
They Have To Sign One Of Alonso Scwarber Bichette Even If They Bring Bregman Back.
I think they keep the DH spot open and rotate Duran / Willy / and Roman through in a rotation, cost effective. I’m not so sure the Red Sox re up with Bregman. I think they focus starting pitching
A package of Wilyer and Tolle should net us a great pitcher. After what I seen from C.Early he is untouchable.
The red sox can negate a story opt out. Story is on this team next year.
Soo do you REALLY think a.992 fielding avg is "really bad" defensively ? Have you LOOKED at Alonso's fielding stats? Have you SEEN his consistency in playing everyday? Sorry man, I ve got after dizzy k and matsa.. I ve got Japanese player syndrome.. our exp shows me it doesn't translate for the sox like it does the dodgers. dont want to chance big$$ on another . I ll take the proven pete wallbanger.. you can use casas and matsa as dh if we still have them. Tucker? Forget it..and schwarberhad the chance to comeback and walked.. and he much worse in the field than Alonso. Just a big goober.
Id like to see Story move back to 2B let Meyer play SS
I only want Bregman back if it is a good price, especially years. I think Casas will be a good player but I agree with you that you cannot depend on him. I do believe Yosida needs to be moved. I want DH to be rotated. This gives Campbell a spot on the roster.
Overall I like your line up but Tucker is a pipe dream.
No chance Polonco will be allowed to leave unless we way overpay I think you'd be more likely to get Josh Nailor.
No chance on Tucker IMO
Love the Tucker signing. I have us resigning bregman , story opting in , trading wilyer plus either masa or casas plus prospects for Ryan ,and signing schwarber
Vs rhp
Anthony
Bregman
Schwarber
Story 2b
Duran
Lowe
Narvy
Myer
Ceddane.
Vs lhp same but story back to ss Campbell at 2nd romy at 1b
Bench eaton, password, wong ,
If Story walks it would be a blessing. And I don't know who's willing to take on Masa, cuz he's basically a useless player.
Calling it now Dodgers will make a run a Bregman 😅
Murekami is a horrible fit. Awful defender and ks a ton in an inferior league
Naylor and Tucker are the two perfect FA fits for Boston. Power, baserunning, defense, low K rate, under 30 years old… Schwarber and Alonso are over 30, poor defenders and in Schwarber's case, there are a ton of Ks
I have been reading that the Sox are interested in tucker, they want to trade Duran because of a outfield log jam. So by signing trucker you still have the same problem.
We need to stop this Wilyer blasphemy. He's a young and up-and-coming hitter and a two-time Gold Glove winner.. bruh
Trading for Paredes makes too much sense for the Sox. Low Ks, power and can play third. Not crazy expensive. And he's blocked by Correia at third, Altuve at 2nd and Walker at first. Now, the Stros could just DH Paredes but that would mean Alvarez would need to play LF every day and I'm not sure anyone wants that
Paredes 3B, Story SS, Mayer 2B, Casas/Romy 1B, Tucker/Anthony/Rafaela/Abreu rotating between the outfield and DH. Campbell and Password compete for 4th outfield/righty outrfield bat duty
Story played a full season for the first time at short in a half decade. Lets cut him some slack. He isn't done yet at short.
Bo Bichette makes sense. Low K, Pop, under 30 years old. Can play him at second
The off season will not be a gigantic spending spree. They have the Bregman and Devers money. They are not going significantly over that. From 2020 to present they've been in between 185 and 200. I agree that Bregman and Story are back, and Mayer plays SS. Tucker, Schwarber, and Alonso are not coming to BOS. I'd rather have Suarez at 1b or DH (especially if Casas is in the plans). Duran packaged with Tolle to Cincy for Hunter Greene.
Lineup: Mayer SS, Bregman 3b, Anthony LF, Suarez DH, Story 2b, Casas 1b, Narvaez C, Abreu RF, Rafaela CF. I prefer Anthony hitting third, but they do lack a leadoff hitter. Try Mayer and if not move back to Anthony.
Rotation: Crochett, Greene, Bello, Early, and number 5 (Houck, Dobbins, Crawford, Sandoval)
If Bregman or Story aren't back, Bichette is an option or even Arraez, who will be significantly cheaper, allowing for more flexibility to add another player.
Trade yoshi to st. Louis. Heim should love it
You didn't just say we've got potentially 3 superstar types in the outfield did you?
Casas needs to go. That 'quirky' personality nonsense gets old fast.
Bergman is not coming back at $30 million a year.
Who would the number two starter be? Duran for Hunter Greene?
The Dodgers, if for no other reason than to tick off the rest of MLB, sign Kyle Tucker.
I think willy stays, this guy just won his second straight glove glove.
Tucker contract is to much money 400 million dollar, no way spent it on pitching.
Anyone have Cody bellinger on their bingo card? All of spots 1st base dh
I am 100% in agreement with you on the Opening day line up I am a big fan of signing Oakamoto and agree the Planco signing @ DH would be a boost to this offense. Totally agree with the move to 2B for Story and Mayer at 3B. I don’t think the Sox spends what it will take to get Tucker
