[Rome] Astros right-hander Hunter Brown is one of three finalists for the American League Cy Young Award. Because Brown is PPI eligible, the Astros will receive a compensatory pick after the first round in the 2026 draft if he finishes in the top-3 of voting.

Chandler says if but since he finished as a finalist it’s a confirmed pick
I got a little confused myself with what the purpose of finalists were. They’ve already voted, is this not just the top 3? Players in the past have gotten first place votes outside the top 3. Votes between 3 and 4 in the past aren’t that considerable of a jump. So what is the point of tonight?
Very cool. I didn’t realize that a player remains eligible until arbitration (or until he actually meets the criteria to earn the pick for the club). I thought it was a first year thing like Cam this year. Just read up on it. Very cool. Hunter is the gift that keeps on giving.
So we’re gonna have like 15 and 30.
I need to see Dana’s supposed elite scouting ability this draft.
Did this season count as Hunter Brown’s rookie year? I guess I don’t understand the PPI.
Can someone explain what PPI is, why it matters, if I should be happy about getting the pick, and what it’s compensating for?
Awesome. God knows this team needs all the draft picks it can get.
Finally something going right for the team this year
