THIS CANUCKS PROSPECT IS DOMINATING THE OHL + A HILARIOUS UPDATE ON RICK TOCCHET & THE FLYERS

[Music] Ah, sour graping. I don’t know. Is that really what we’re doing here? We got some positive Vancouver Connects news to go over and some potentially Okay, maybe really bad news for the Philadelphia Flyers. And I’ll start this video out by saying, Flyers fans, I know it must be annoying to have somebody like me continually talking about your team in this way, dogging you guys every time something goes wrong, but I will admit, it’s not like everything’s going bad for the Philadelphia Flyers. Say what you want about Matt Vay Mishkov. Say what you want about them losing yesterday, but the Philadelphia Flyers are still in a pretty meh spot in the NHL standings. In fact, they’ve overtaken the Vancouver Conucks. They were already above Vancouver even before yesterday’s loss in regulation to Calgary. The Flyers right now are at 13 points in 12 games and the Canucks are at 12 points in 13 games. Vancouver is 28th in the National Hockey League and third last in the Pacific. So, they’re not doing all too hot, but they’re hurt. They got so many guys on the IR, so it’s kind of a lost season. However, however, the reason we’re making this video is because of a graphic that was posted on Sportsnet. I found this on the Aranox subreddit, but I wanted to showcase it here today. The graphic is very simple. It just says this, “Talk’s teams don’t shoot.” And below is a list of the last four full seasons that Rick Tocket has had as head coach in the NHL. In 2020 2021, the Arizona Coyotes had Rick Tocket for the full year and they had 27 and a half shots a game, good enough for 29th in the NHL. In 23-24, Takett’s first full season with the Canucks. That season they finished off with 28.4 four shots per game. Good enough for 26th in the NHL. Slight improvement, but still, you know, despite the PDO bender and the game seven in the second round of the playoffs, they still didn’t get many shots. That was a very big problem in those playoff games. I mean, imagine beating Nashville with 10 shots on goal. It’s ridiculous. And then you can see in 2425 the season that was last year talking after winning the coach of the year had himself 25 and a half shots per game. Good enough for 31st in the NHL. And this year with the Flyers, well they’ve gone out there with 24 shots a game. Good enough for 31st in the league. Every single team Rick Tocket head coaches for a full season. They don’t shoot. They don’t shoot the gosh darn puck on goal. They find ways to just keep it going. Dump and chase. We want to reprogram the way Elias Patterson thinks the game. We want to reprogram the way Matt Vishkov thinks the game. And I’m not even going to say that some players can’t succeed under Rick Tocket. We saw it with JT Miller. He was really, really good in that system. And oddly enough, hey, guess what? Trevor Zgris is doing really well this year, too. He’s a point per game guy. He’s been over a point per game in this recent stretch. And that’s all under Rick Tocket. So yeah, Trevor Zaggress is having a bounceback year for the ages that I don’t think anybody really expected with Rick Tocket as his head coach, but the team just doesn’t shoot. That’s it. He’s not going out there and allowing this team to play a system that encourages pucks towards the goal. And I thought that was interesting. Thought it was very interesting. And I think for a lot of Vancouver Conucks fans who are sour graping over former coaches that left the team and didn’t want to be with this organization, it’s easy for fans to say, “Yeah, no, screw that guy. His teams don’t shoot. Now Philadelphia is going through the same problems.” And it’s like, “Yeah, they are going through the same problems, but at least they’re above Vancouver in the standings.” Okay, that was mean. I’m sorry. Vancouver is just so hurt and it’s a bad season. Everybody’s sad nowadays, too, right? Oh, injury scare with Brock Besser. Oh, the Blue Jays lost. Oh, Quinn Hughes is not himself. Oh, he’s gonna leave. Oh, Adam Foots team talket. H, it just does not work out, boys. Ah, boys and girls cannot forget the 4% of my audience that is actually female, at least according to their Google and YouTube accounts. Anyways, shifting gears to Vancouver and the Kucks. I actually wanted to talk about a very particular player in the organization right now. You see, yesterday we made a video commentary talking about Braden Coots and his level of success that he has exhibited in the WHL so far. Yeah, I get it. He was included on the NHL’s worst team of the month for October because the threeame sample he had was so negative in terms of his on ice game scorec card that it was put on that list. But there’s another player drafted by the Vancouver Conucks in the most recent 2025 NHL entry draft who happens to be doing really well. No, it’s not Braden Coots. He’s doing fine, but the guy who was taken in the second round. Take a look at Alexi Medvidev. Dave Hall tweeted this out earlier yesterday had his shutout bid spoiled with 39 seconds remaining in today’s game. He still stopped 30 of 31 shots to extend his season record to 61-1. Both Medve’s 930 save percentage tied and 182 goals against average lead the entire Ontario Hockey League. Baby, that’s amazing. Alexi Medvidev is doing things that I don’t think we have seen out of an OHL goalender in this age range in quite a while. I think I mean you think about guys in the past. Yeah. Okay. The OHL has had some goalenders recently who have stood the test of time and been good, but it’s not too common. And I only say that because it’s like, yeah, no, some of the best goalenders don’t really come from the CHL. Yes, you have your Carrie Prices and your Canadian guys once in a while, but really you look at the past 25 years of OHL goalending. Out of all the U19 players who have produced at a higher rate than Medvidev’s current 930, you only have a very small list. Since 20201, U19 players above 930 save percentage in a certain amount of games played. You have Steve Mason who had a 931 and 17 years old. So he’s kind of the outlier there. You have Gerald Coleman, Matt Harpwood, Michael Noiverth, and Michael Hutchinson. So definitely not a level of talent that I think is easy to achieve. I mean, these guys who did it, they’re not even like great. There are some notable names as you scroll down. U19 OHL players recently, John Gibson, Alex Nadelkovich, Anthony Stolars, but these guys were in the 920 to 928 range. So, it’s not really as impressive as what you have Medvidev doing right now at this age. So, all that to say is it looks like Alexi Medvidev seems to be a very competent goalending prospect for Vancouver and he’s entering a statistical territory that really we don’t see out of guys. ever. The best goalenders for Vancouver recently have come from all over. I mean, Arthur Sheilovs was not an OHL grown talent. He was in Latvia of all places. Yes, he played one season in the OHL, but look at Arthur Sheil’s only year with the OHL’s Barry Colts in his draft plus one. He had an 891 save percentage. That’s terrible. Like, he ended up becoming pretty good. I’d say Medvidev is so much better and it throws a nice little curveball in what we are expecting out of top goalending prospects because Demco of course he was developed in the NCAA. Latvia is where Shouls did his work and Kevin Lankanin who isn’t a Vancouver Canucks homegrown talent but who is in the system now. Lankanin was developed all the way back in Finland in the SM Leica and that system over there. It’s hard to find trueborn Canadian CHL goalenders who have stood the test of time and become great other than, you know, the carry prices and whatnot. But either way, Medvidev, not Canadian, but he’ll still be sufficing in this league so far. Looks like he’s a guy that we should be paying attention to based off of his play and what he’s been able to accomplish. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Medvideb and the way he’s progressed, as well as your thoughts on the Philadelphia Flyers and Rick talk at not shooting the gosh darn puck. Am I sour graping here? Yeah, I am. I admit it. But thoughts in the comment section. Either way, I hope you enjoyed this video 999 and bye. [Music] [Music]

  1. Forget Flyers Canucks will be the at the end. I still think Sabers and Canucks will make trade to help both clubs. Debrusk and Mancinni Sasson to Sabers. Mcleod and Powers 4 rd our way.
