We’re going on 8 seasons into the Mahomes era and Mahomes will still have yet to have had a 1,000 yard running back rushing season and not a single 1,000 yard WR + RB in the same season, this is with the fact Kansas City faces the highest rate of light boxes in the NFL

He’s 100% right, but Reid will never change. At this point, it would probably take Mahomes to tell Reid and the front office to do it and force his way as the star QB.
2021 AFCCG was exactly the same. CIN dared them to run by dropping 8 in coverage and they just kept throwing the damn ball.

He has won super bowls with Damien Williams and Isiah Pacheco as his lead rushers. Pacheco was out yesterday. Pacheco and Hunt are pretty much in a 50/50 split and combined average 86.2 yards per game. They are fine when we have both healthy.
The only real investment available into the room would be Breece Hall that could be a game changer. He would cost a 3rd round pick then require a contract of around $11-13M per year or let him walk and wait for a comp pick in 2027. I am all for trading for Breece and have been vocal about it. I think he is a top 5-7 RB talent in the league in a horrible situation. I do also believe the overreaction to yesterday has been pretty extreme. They lost by 7 to an AFC favorite while Mahomes played one of his worst games.
My biggest concern is him getting PTSD from 2024 every time the pocket starts collapsing. Messes with his head.
Our offense is incredibly predictable once we aren’t leading run on first pass the next 2 downs. He will never do 2-3 runs in a row

Id personally like to see more 2 RB sets to force the defense to run more LBs. We are seeing a TON of nickle and dime defense. Make them use more LBs and kill them with speed in space.

Matt Lane cannot pronounce versus but on this topic he’s spot on. Why were there no outlets or other short passes? Kareem Hunt was gashing the Bills and yet they didn’t run any play action off it.
I’d like to see a heavier RB fresh out of college. I watched some games with Washington, and I like what Jonah Coleman does. Only question is where he goes in the draft.
PS: I was somehow able to will Josh Simmons, Xavier Worthy, Trey Smith, and Creed Humphrey on the Chiefs into existence. Maybe I can do it again.
If anything this feels like an inflection point that joy even this front office can ignore. It’s been five years since Clyde, time to get someone that can be a game changer at the position for this very reason
I’ll bet this offense would absolutely go off if for some reason someday we could argue that Pat’s #1 weapon was actually his RB much like Josh has now.
But the point about protecting Pat later in his career with a running game is valid.
I agree with his assessment. But I also blame the GM for not drafting a RB that can run the ball given the injury IP had. The back they drafted was a pass catcher. I also blame GM for not drafting OR TRADING for a decent DE
I think the issue is Mahomes holding the ball far too long. Either the plays are designed that way or Mahomes is being indecisive. Both are coaching issues.
When Mahomes gets rid of it in less than 2.5 seconds, we win big. When he holds it for more than 3 seconds, we lose big.
Get rid of the ball faster and we are unstoppable.
Probably because he knew Buffalo had a pretty bad run defense so he didn’t want to embarrass them by exploiting that 🤦♂️
