[Cogg] Brewers have excised the club option on Freddy

The botched wording has me imagining the Brewers FO surgically removing the club option wording from Freddy’s contract. Idk why but it’s hilarious to me
No-brainers for everyone involved.
Now, to see if we bring back Woody on a team friendly deal. As much as I love him, I think it’s time for an amicable split. Just can’t justify keeping the young guys wasting bullets in AAA and scrambling to find temporary replacements for Woody’s injury stints.
I don’t think any of this is super surprising. Hoped Woodruff might have stayed but at this point, if you’re him I think you try to go get the bag before there’s no other chance. Still think the Jansen move made next to zero sense. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Peralta either way dudes gonna make some money next year.
Hoskins and Quintana declined options news will come soon too
Coleman Crow might make a handful of starts next year
Wrote Cogg not Hoggs. Oops
The big question now is will the Brewers offer Woodruff the qualifying offer.
Woody is and has been my favorite 💔 … I get it tho
We can’t afford to get rid of Big Woo as a power hitter. Has a better career average than some of the guys we had actually hitting 🥲
Woodruff declined so he can come back on a team-friendlier deal… right? 🥹
How much you guys think woody will get this offseason?
Bye Woodruff. Stole basically 2 years of money from us.
Gonna be sad if Woody signs elsewhere, always thought he would be the one we would keep. I’m afraid of Freddy getting traded, and if that ends up being the case, why not bring Woody back then?
I’m hoping that the Brewers told Woody to see what the market looks like and to give them a chance to match or beat any offers. Can’t imagine he’s going to get too much given the recent injury history but I think he’s worth having around on an affordable deal. The Brewers don’t have a lot of bona fide starters at the moment, especially since Freddy could be gone if someone blows Arnold away with a trade offer.
Woodruff almost left the brewers during the off season the year he got injured. He wanted to join counsel in Chicago. Let him go if his heart doesn’t want to be here. I think Peralta wants to be a brewer long term.
