NEW Steelers Trade Deadline Rumors & Intel – TRADE For Deebo Samuel, Jakobi Meyers Or Calvin Ridley?
[Music] Happy Victory Monday, Steelers Nation. Now, make sure you guys are subscribed to the channel because when and if the con artist strikes again, make sure you’re subscribed for our breaking news coverage. if they trade for like say a number two wide receiver, we’re going to be going live for that immediately. Okay. We’ll also be going live tomorrow at uh at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time breaking down everything that goes down during the NFL trade deadline. Um and of course, if the Steelers make a trade tomorrow, we’ll be live for that. So, we will make sure to get you guys breaking news coverage. So, if you guys want the very latest surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers and what they’re going to be doing at the trade deadline this year, click that subscribe button for the very latest. Now, first thing that I want to talk about here is why I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will trade for a wide receiver if they make a trade. It’s possible that the Steelers stand pat. That is a possibility for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I don’t think they’re going to trade for an offensive lineman. I don’t think they’re going to trade for a defensive back. We’ll talk about that later in today’s show. But if they make a trade, I think it’ll be to add another veteran wide receiver to add depth and to add insurance in case there is injury to this room down the stretch. And the truth is, I think that this crew with this group, you know, could certainly use another piece. Okay? And the reason why I say that is because I don’t love the total depth with this wide receiver room right now. Especially guys that have experience playing in the playoffs, etc. DK Metaf is your number one. He’s locked in for sure. Calvin is the third, led the team in receiving yesterday versus the Colts. I think that he’s a pretty decent number two receiver. I kind of compare his skill set to Tank Dell. Uh but then you got Roman Wilson right after him. And this offense does, you know, play a lot of 12 and 13 personnel. So, they don’t really play a lot of three receiver sets. So, you can make the argument, hey, they’ve already got their two starting receivers and Roman is a decent rotational piece. Um, and although I like Roman, I think he could still have a future with this team. Absolutely. I think that he’s shown some very good things over the last month on film. He’s made some nice catches. He led the team in receiving two weeks ago against the Packers. Uh, you know, he’s run some really good routes. You can tell Aaron Rodgers has been really proud of his development this year. But in a year here with the Pittsburgh Steelers where they could and they this team really believes that they could make a push for a Lombardi trophy. I think that you know you probably want a little bit more veteran experience in the room and frankly you want a little bit more of a diverse skill set in this room. I don’t think right now they have a tough big body route runner type in this group. I mean DK Metaf is big and he’s fast and he’s a great yak threat. He can make some tough catches, but I don’t think I necessarily view him as a true route runner or as a ball winner necessarily. Uh, and then Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson, you know, they’re kind of smaller, speedier threats, but I don’t know if I view these guys as like legitimate like like true, you know, big body type of guys where you throw it up and they they’ll come down with the football. And, you know, with Roman Wilson’s performance yesterday against the Colts, he only had one catch for four yards and then he fumbled. So, you know, this is this is a player here that, you know, has certainly not established himself, I would say, as a legitimate starting player in this league just yet. I think he can get there, and I think the Steelers believe he’s going to get there uh someday. Uh but I also think that the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially for the right price, wouldn’t mind adding a legitimate starting caliber wide receiver to fill out this wide receiver room. And then if that’s the case, if somebody gets hurt, you still have a very good starting trio of wide receivers here in Pittsburgh. Now, I want you guys to keep in mind, I don’t think Pittsburgh’s going to break the bank for a wide receiver. Okay? I think that they’re the most they’re going to be willing to give up is probably an early day three pick. So, that’s a fourth round pick, fifth round pick. I think that that’s probably the range of draft pick that Omar Khan is trying to deal for a potential wide receiver addition. So, that would take him out of the running for a number of guys if Brian Thomas Jr. is available. Uh he’s going to go for at least a first round pick. Jaylen Wadd the same way. Chris Olive probably if he’s going to be dealt it’s going to be for a day two pick and it sounds like New Orleans wants to extend him. Uh and then Garrett Wilson I just don’t see him being dealt. He just got a new contract in New York. It doesn’t make sense. Uh even though the Jets are certainly rebuilding, it doesn’t really make sense for the Jets to let go of Garrett Wilson. And if they did, he would be worth at least a first round pick as well. So, this is these guys are just above the caliber of receiver that the Steelers are really looking for. I think if they’re looking for somebody, they’re looking for a solid starting caliber veteran wide receiver that’s not going to break the bank. Unfortunately, I think these four guys are probably out of the running for Pittsburgh. Maybe the most likely among this group though is probably Chris Olive. But then you look at the guys I think are more likely. Guys like Jacobe Meyers, Rasheed Shahid, those two have been heavily linked to the Steelers over the last several weeks. Calvin Ridley. There was a report yesterday that Tennessee is in fact trying to deal him before the deadline. Jawan Jennings is an interesting name to keep in mind. Kind of a similar skill set to Jacobe Myers. And then Christian Kirk, a name that the Steelers were interested interested in last year at the trade deadline. And now the Texans, you know, are kind of in this kind of weird in between space. CJ Stout has a concussion now. Could they look to offload uh Christian Kirk before the deadline? I think it’s certainly possible. But another name that is kind of new to the discussion here that I want you guys to keep in mind and to keep your eye on is Washington Commanders receiver Debo Samuel. Okay, the Commanders traded for Debo uh actually during the NFL combine for a fifth round pick this year and he’s only on a one-year deal. They did not give him an extension when they traded for him uh this off season. And the Commander season is done. Jaden Daniels, you know, broke his broke his or dislocated his elbow yesterday in really horrific fashion. his season is done and the commanders are sitting at three and six. Their season’s over. Debo Samuel, who’s about to turn 30, is not going to be a part of their long-term plan. So, I could certainly see Adam Peters, their GM being willing to offload Debo Samuel for the right price. He’s on the final year of his deal. He’s around the right, you know, price tag and age range that the Steelers are looking for. And if you’re looking for like fits in an Arthur Smith Shanahan style offense, Debo Samuel fits that, man. He’s a great run blocker. He’s a yak threat. Uh Rogers loves to get the ball out of his hands quickly. Debo Samuel can be another yak threat in this offense if you are to go get him. And then he’s got solid hands and you know he’s not the best route runner in the world, but he can run crossing routes and stuff like that. And he can bring, you know, a physical presence to this uh Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver room uh that outside of DK Metaf you don’t get with Roman Wilson and with Calvin Austin III. And Debo’s having a pretty decent season right now. Well, I would say he’s been dealing with a little bit of a heel issue uh healthwise this year, but he has played the last two weeks and uh you know, 42 catches on the year for over 350 yards for an average of over eight and a half yards per catch with three touchdowns. And you know, you can use him in a lot of creative ways. Jet sweeps, orbit motions, you can use him as a run blocker, okay? You can put him in the slot in that way. You know, you can use him as a wide receiver screen threat, you can put them on drags and uh you know, pivot route, all these different things. And you know, I think that Debo, you know, would be a receiver that Arthur Smith would certainly like to add to his football team. And for a midday three draft pick, like if the Commanders can get their return on investment, like a fifth round pick for Devo Samuel, I think that they would probably accept that. And I wouldn’t rule this out for the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially because we know how the Steelers like to play offense. They like to get the ball out fast, allow these guys to work out in space. Of course, DK Metaf is an awesome Yak threat. Jaylen Warren the same way. Jonnu Smith kind of occupies that role in this team right now. But if you add a Debo Samuel to this group, that could change some things here. And Debo can still play. He really can, especially when he’s healthy. So keep your eye on this one, especially if the Steelers can’t get a guy like Jacobe Meyers or Calvin Ridley before the deadline. So let me know what you guys think down there in the comments section. Would you give up a fifth round pick in 2026 uh for Debo Samuel? Uh give me an A for accept or D for decline. Let me know what you guys think down there in the comments section for today’s pin question. Just a second here, I’m going to tell you about our sponsor today at prize picks. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right now. At this juncture, guys, if the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be trading for a wide receiver, I would say the guy that’s most likely to be dealt to the Steelers and the guy that is certainly the most connected to the Steelers at this point is Raiders wide receiver Jacobe Meyers. And I think that his skill set just fits extremely well with what the Steelers could really use inside their wide receiver room right now. You got DK Metaf who’s kind of your, you know, deep threat, but also kind of your Yak threat, uh, big body guy. Uh, then you got Calvin Austin the third who’s kind of like your undersized kind of versatile guy that can play inside or out, can threaten to all three levels of the field. Uh, you know, can can can make plays after the catch, can you know, track the ball over his shoulder deep down the field. Uh, but they don’t really have that big body, tough hands kind of route runner on this team right now and Jacobe Myers would provide that. So, I think you could have a really great complimentary trio of wide receiver talent here in Pittsburgh if you add a Jacobe Meyers. And because he’s 29 years old, because he’s on an expiring contract, and because everyone and their mama knows that the Raiders are going to be trading Jacobe Myers before the trade deadline to somebody, um it sounds like the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in him and you know, they’re they’re willing to be patient with their price to be able to go get Jacobe Meyers. So certainly keep your eye on him. I’d say he’s the most likely wide receiver target for the Pittsburgh Steelers as we approach Tuesday’s deadline. But I’d also say don’t sleep on Calvin Ridley. There was a report yesterday that the Tennessee Titans are heavily shopping him before the trade deadline and you know I I can see why. You know, he hasn’t really connected with Cam Ward this year and you know he’s an expensive player that’s getting older and they’re about to embrace a full-scale rebuild with a new head coach. I can see why they want to unload Calvin Ridley for another draft pick here and you know if you can get him for that price tag that the Steelers are looking for, you know, an early day three draft pick, I think they’d be willing to pull the trigger on that. And you know, Ridley, you know, what he brings to the table is not only does he bring the speed and the verticality that Arthur Smith really likes in his receivers here in Pittsburgh, but he also brings really fantastic route running. He explodes out of his breaks and he gets open better than uh most receivers in the National Football League. Frankly, he’s got the full route tree at his disposal. He brings good size to the table as well. His downside is he doesn’t have the best hands in the world, so you’re going to have to live with some drops with a guy like Calvin Ridley. as a number two receiver in this offense. I think that, you know, he would be a hell of a get for the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially at that early day three pick price tag. Now, some other possibilities for the Pittsburgh Steelers on the trade market here over the next couple days. They could theoretically maybe get Hollywood Brown from the Kansas City Chiefs if they’re looking to unload somebody. Adani Mitchell, a younger receiver that could be a long-term option for the Steelers if they want to take a risk on somebody that, you know, just isn’t playing a whole lot with the Colts even though he’s an extreme uh talent. Brandon Cooks, if you’re looking for kind of that route runner, tough hands kind of guy, uh that’s the guy I kind of think Brandon Cooks is at this point. He’s he’s completely lost his speed, uh but he can still run routes. He can still make some tough catches over the middle of the field. So, if that’s the type of guy you’re looking for and you want to give up like say a seventh round pick, I think Brandon Cooks is probably your guy. And then Allen Lazard, of course, you know, with the Aaron Rogers connection, he’s always going to be linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have to say that is still probably a possibility, but that is probably my my least favorite option out of everybody that we’ve talked about today if I’m being honest with you. Now, keep in mind, okay, and we’re talking about possibilities with wide receiver trades, but the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Jerry Dulac swears that the Pittsburgh Steelers are not trading for a wide receiver before the trade deadline, which if you know Jerry Dulac, probably means they’re going to be trading for one within the next 24 hours. So, this is what Jerry had to say about what he thinks the Steelers are going to do or not do before the trade deadline. With the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, the Steelers are not going to go out and pay for a number two receiver with any kind of big deadline day trade. They rely so much on their tight ends if they got a second receiver or another receiver. Really, where are they going to play him in this offense? I mean, clearly you play them, you know, with we play more three person or three wide receiver packages, Jerry. You just play less tight ends. You play Jonnu Smith less. You know, I think that that is probably, you know, what you do there. Uh, but you know, I could see Jerry being right here. You know, he is right that this offense really does lean into the tight end talent and they are paying both Pat Fmouth and John Smith a lot of money to be prominent figures in this offense. And if you trade for another receiver, um, you know, you’re either going to be putting Calvin Austin the third on the bench a lot, or you’re going to be playing more 11 personnel, which means you’re playing your expensive tight ends less. But I kind of like the fact and the idea that you have that you have versatility in your offense. If you want to go play spread and play multiple receivers, you have the receiver talent to do that. If you want to play heavy and play with heavier tight ends, it can and you can be matchup dependent. You can do all these different things and you can become one of the more versatile offenses in the league if you can add another receiver like a Jacobe Meyers, like a Debo Samuel, like a Calvin Ridley, the guys that we’ve talked about today. Now, Dulac does say that the Steelers are going to add somebody to the receiver room, but he says it’s going to be expected to be Marquez Valdis Scantling, who is expected, according to him, to sign with the practice squad this week. He’s not the only one saying this, by the way. Jordan Schultz from Fox Sports has also said that MVS is expected to sign with the Steelers practice squad this week. And Aaron Rogers, uh, the quarterback of this team, clearly feels like MVS can still play. So, this might be the option that the Steelers go with at the wide receiver position and opt to not trade for anyone at the deadline. This is what Rogers said last week about his good friend MVS. I love MVS. I’ve always enjoyed playing with him. He’s one of my favorite teammates of all time. He is a really special guy and I think MVS can still really play. You saw last year when he was in New Orleans, he had opportunities. He had a lot of big touchdowns. He can still run. I think MVS wants to be on an active roster. So, if there wasn’t an opportunity here for that, then I guess he’s waiting for something else. But I don’t fault him. I love MVS. Whether he is here or somewhere else, I’m always pulling for him. So, certainly Rogers feels like MVS can be an asset to the Pittsburgh Steelers this year as a wide receiver addition. But if you guys don’t want to rely on MVS to be, you know, somebody that comes in here, uh, as, you know, somebody that, you know, extends this wide receiver room talent, uh, and you guys want to trade for a veteran receiver instead, make sure you guys click that thumbs up icon, help out today’s show. If you want Jacobe Myers, if you want Debo Samuel, if you want Calvin Ridley, if you want one of these veteran receivers before the deadline, click that thumbs up icon, help out today’s show, uh, and let the let the con artists know that you guys want a receiver. All right, so now let’s talk about another popular position on Steelers Twitter that people want to go make a move at specifically because they don’t like Darius Slay um is is defensive back and specifically cornerback. And you know, I think the first thing you have to realize, guys, when it comes to the quarterback market is that the CBS that are available via trade right now, in my opinion, aren’t all that great, okay? Like you can take a look at some of the best options that the Steelers would have at their disposal. like Reek Woolen is is kind of the big name that’s that’s being put out there, but he’s honestly not much of a man corner. He’s more of like a true cover three corner. Um, and I don’t know if I if I love the idea of adding him to this Steelers defense. I mean, if they do it, you know, for the right price tag, I guess I’d be fine with it. Uh, he’s another physical long kind of kind of guy, very similar to Joey Porter Jr.’s skill set, honestly. And I I don’t know if they want two Joey Porter Juniors in this Steelers defense. Alante Taylor’s another name that’s certainly a popular one on Steelers Twitter right now. More of a slot player. He’s big enough to play on the outside, but he’s played his best football in the slot. And I think eventually the Steelers still want to put Jaylen Ramsay back in the slot. And then they want to move Brandon Eckles outside while when Jabril Peppers gets back. Same thing goes for Jaquan McMillan, more of a slot player. Not sure if the Steelers are in the market for a slot guy. And then Christian Fulton, former starter, you know, former high draft pick. Uh but he hasn’t had a great season in Kansas City and frankly hasn’t really had a great last couple of years if I’m being completely honest with you. Uh and then you know honestly if you want to add a corner I would maybe even look at the free agency market. I mean Asante Samuel Jr. is still out there. He says he wants to sign with the team in the middle of the season. Um and the Steelers you know are a team that he could add you could add to that group right now. He’s inside outside versatile. Um that could certainly add something to this secondary. Stefon Gilmore is a little bit older. Uh but he’s played in quarters and palms heavy schemes and in manheavy schemes. You know, he’s played in everything, man. And uh he he he played pretty decently for the Minnesota Vikings last year. Some other guys, Emanuel Mosley, longtime starter still out there. Troy Hill, if you want to play more quarters, uh style defense, he’s been a decent uh quarters corner throughout the years. And same thing goes for Kendall Fuller, uh who kind of flamed out with Miami last year, but he had a really good season with Washington two years ago. And then when it comes to safeties, and for people that are like, “Oh, let’s go get another safety so we can put Ramsay back in in the slot, you know, the trade market’s pretty barren there.” Really, the only guy in the safety uh you know, market in terms of trades that was being discussed before the trade deadline was Kyle Duggar, and we ended up getting him. I think that’s the move that the Steelers are going to make at safety. And honestly, I think they’re going to probably keep Jaylen Ramsay at free safety. He played so well there against the Colts. I just don’t think it makes a whole lot of sense uh to to mess with what’s working right now. And you know that includes Darius Slay on the outside who I think played a lot better than people are giving him credit for against the Colts. Honestly, Brandon Eckles was responsible for quite a few of of the of the mistakes and coverage, especially in man versus the Colts. And I thought Darius Slay, although it wasn’t a perfect performance from him, I thought he actually played pretty decently uh yesterday versus the Indianapolis Colts. And what happened yesterday, and this is the way they kind of lined up. Ramsay and Duggar took every single safety snap on the day. Joey Porter Jr. got all the snaps outside corner. Brandon Eckles was out there as the CB2 and slot cornerback. And then Darius Slay was out there most of the time as the CB3, but they did bring in James Pierre because Slay was dealing with some on andoff injuries throughout the game. And honestly, Pierre played pretty well on the outside. So, I just don’t know if we’re looking at a situation here in Pittsburgh where they’re really looking to spend draft capital to get another defensive back. And we also have to remember that Jabril Peppers is going to be back eventually. You know, hopefully, you know, we’ll we’ll see how severe this quad injury ends up being for him. But the plan is, and to my understanding, the plan is for him to play free safety when he gets back. And then you put Jaylen Ramsay back in the nickel and then you essentially have this big nickel package with three safeties out there. And uh, you know, they were playing a lot of quarters. They were playing a lot of man-match coverage this week and it really worked. This is a really good man-match football team, guys. And uh they’ve really leaned into that this week and that was a big reason why this defense had its best performance of the season. So, I’m looking forward to Peppers being back, but if you’re hoping for the Steelers to trade for a corner before the trade deadline, I won’t say it’s impossible, but I will say it’s highly unlikely at this point. Now, my best guess, guys, and you know, I kind of said this at the beginning of the video, I think that the Steelers will add a wide receiver at the deadline if they make a trade, uh, but they’re not going to add players at any other position. I think they feel good with where they’re at on the offensive line. I think they feel good with where they’re at certainly at tight end and on defensive line, an offball linebacker, and I actually think they feel pretty good about their secondary after this recent performance versus the Colts. So, I think the one area where they could certainly add a veteran is at that wide receiver position to give them more versatility, to give them um you know, a little bit more of that ability to stretch the field with the passing game, etc., especially on third and long situations where this team has kind of struggled in that regard. Uh so, I guess we’ll see if the con artist strikes. I’m guessing it’s going to have to be at the right price. I don’t think Khan is going to overpay for any receivers, especially with MVS expected to sign on the practice squad this week. But if the right opportunity presents itself, my guess is the Steelers are definitely willing to add a receiver. So, predict it for me down there in the comments section. How many trades will Omar Khan make before the trade deadline? Will he make none? Will he make one, two, even three? How many trades will the con artist make before the trade deadline strikes tomorrow? Let me know down there in the comment section. Now, just to let you guys know, we will be getting a second video out to you guys later today. I’m going to have my full week n film takeaways for you guys. I’m going to let you guys know exactly what the Steelers did on defense to fix this defensive unit and get this team to play the best football they’ve played uh over the over the course of the first portion of the season, first half of the season, and then also some offensive takeaways as well, what that unit can do better moving forward. And then also tomorrow, we’ll be going live at 100 p.m. Eastern time for our coverage of the NFL trade deadline. Of course, if they make a trade today, we’ll be going live for that today. So, just keep uh you know, your phone next to you. Make sure you turn on your notifications in case breaking news happens. Greatly appreciate all of your guys’ support. And until next time, guys, here we go. Steelers. [Music]

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac on the possibility of the Steelers trading for a number 2 wide receiver before the NFL trade deadline:
“With the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday…(the Steelers are) not gonna go out and pay for a number 2 receiver with any kind of big deadline-day trade…they rely so much on their tight ends. If they got a second receiver or another receiver, really where are they gonna play him in this offense?”

Would you trade a 5th round pick in exchange for Deebo Samuel? Type 'A' for Accept, or 'D' for Decline
I’d give up a 5th for Debo in a second. I’d even go for a 4th
Do you think will Howard will get any field time this year? He has a canon of an arm.
I want Asante or cam smith give em a shot
Mistake not trading for Tariq Woolin and possibly a WR…
A
The Steelers should have drafted Skataboo. He's the Steelers' prototype running back, a true bull when running the ball. Not to mention that he's also a good receiver in the backfield. Again I don't know how both Tomlin and Arthur Smith missed this golden opportunity.
Arthur Smith needs to be fired immediately DK Metcalf having one catch is on him
Arthur Smith needs to be fired immediately for DK having one catch is on him no excuses
Jaylen waddle
We're not getting deebo
WR: Deebo shaheed or waddle
CB: woolen
Metcalf is a bust
No Lazard that’s stupid af. No shaheed we already have small fast we need bigger body at w2 in case DK goes down
Simple question why you talking for commander TV?????
What’s your take on MVS as the wr2?
Trade a 1&2 pick for Garret Wilson and Sauce Gardner. If we're going for a Lombardi, go all in or they aren't serious

I think debo would be a good pickup for us for a 5th
I will be unsubscribing from your channel but I wanted you to know why. Your comments about Russ and his relationship with God is unfortunate. Please remember that many Christians probably watch this channel and I don’t think it is to much to ask you to be wise when dealing with this issue. Thanks

I’d give a 2 for Debo run and catch brings energy
A yes I would give up a 5th Rounder
