MAJOR Miami Dolphins Rumors Before NFL Trade Deadline: Trade ALREADY Done With Dallas Cowboys?

[Music] Well folks, it’s officially NFL trade deadline day. Welcome to Dolphins Today by Chad Sports. I am your host, Nick Rolloff. 4 p.m. is the deadline today. So, whoever is still on the Dolphins roster past that time, well, is going to be here for the rest of the season. There are a ton of rumors with Miami who they will trade, who they will not trade. Champ Kelly, the interim GM filling in for Chris Greer, who was fired last Friday. He is active and a lot of people are insinuating that Miami is going to make a lot of trades before the 400 p.m. deadline. We already saw on Monday morning they traded Jaylen Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles. There are other players that are on the trade block. We’ll get to them in the latest on them, including a deal already maybe done with the Dallas Cowboys. We’ll have that and more. But make sure you subscribe. So, subscribe and join us. the five trade candidates that are still on the roster. There was six trade candidates, but with Phillips gone, it shrinks to five. Minka Fitzpatrick, Bradley Chub, Jaylen Wadd, Matthew Judon, and Rousul Douglas are the five most likely players that could be dealt by the deadline today. But there are a lot of buzz right now on Minka Fitzpatrick and Bradley Chub. And I actually went as far as to tweet this midafter afternoon on Monday saying that I feel pretty good projecting that the Dolphins are making a trade with either Bradley Chub or Mah Fitzpatrick going to the Dallas Cowboys. So, not only did I call which two players could go, but also to what team. Why do I feel that confident? Well, it was all because of Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones, who was at Texas Live before the Monday night Cowboys Cardinals game with Stephen A. Smith, and he was telling people that he already made a trade. Yeah, he already made one, but there hasn’t been one announced. He said he’s keeping it a secret until it gets consummated on Tuesday when papers are sent to the league office. When talking about the player, he didn’t say who it was, obviously, but he mentioned that it would be someone who immediately has an impact on the field and address some things that have been our shortcomings. Well, that’s where I bring the Dolphins into this because we know Miami is selling at the deadline. But when you look at the Dallas Cowboys and their shortcomings this season, what have been the largest issues? Their inability to rush the quarterback and their secondary being absolutely torched. What are two players that we just talked about being trade candidates? Oh, Ma Fitzpatrick would be arguably the best player traded this deadline that plays either safety or cornerback in that secondary. But also, we have Bradley Chub, who I’m not claiming to be elite by any stretch of the imagination, cuz I don’t think he’s actually been that good this season. But he is someone that is a veteran, a leader, and can rush the quarterback better than what Dallas currently has. We’re the perfect trade partner for the Dallas Cowboys, for either Chubber, Fitzpatrick, or you know what, honestly, both of them. But let me know, predict it. Do the Dolphins actually have a trade done with the Dallas Cowboys featuring either Minka Fitzpatrick or Bradley Chub, type Y for yes or type N for no? I kind of believe they do. And if you were to ask me which one, if I had to choose one that I wish was being sent to Dallas, it would actually be Minka Fitzpatrick. I think that trading him makes more sense in my opinion than Bradley Chub. I’m fine doing both if you get the right return for the two veterans. But if I had to choose one, it would absolutely be Minka Fitzpatrick. Why? Because he has the best value around the league. I truly do think you would be able to get a day two selection for Minka Fitzpatrick, likely in that third round range, similar to what you got in return for Jaylen Phillips. I think both players are good in their own rights. Referring to Phillips and Fitzpatrick here. The only difference is JP, he’s 26, but he’s also an unrestricted free agent next season. Think of Fitzpatrick is 29, but he’s under contract for one more year. But that $15.6 million base salary he has is non-G guaranteed. When thinking about Bradley Chub, the reason why I think it’s more likely to deal away a guy like Mika Fitzpatrick and why I’d want that is because the financial implications of trading away Bradley Chub. He currently has a $12.3 million cap hit, but if you trade him away, that pretty much all is dead cap for the Dolphins. You don’t save any money by dealing him away for 2025. But in 2026, that’s where things change. He has a $31 million cap hit as of right now. That is $23.8 million in dead money in 2026 with only $7.4 million in savings if you deal them now. If you waited till the off season, you would get $20 million in cap savings and only $10 million in dead cap if you cut him or trade him post June 1st in 2026. So, it makes sense for me to hold on to Bradley Chub for the rest of the year and deal with his contract and future in Miami next June. Also, why I believe it could be Mick Fitzpatrick and hope it is is because someone who is very close to the Dallas Cowboys, Marcus Moer, said that he has not heard of Pete, but if he were to predict what trade Jerry Jones already made, he would either guess it’s Tyrie Wilson from the Las Vegas Raiders or Minka Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. You combine all of the buzz around Dallas and Miami with the report from Jordan Schultz that they are very much open to trading Minka Fitzpatrick for the right value. You connect some dots. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And I feel as if Minka Fitzpatrick very well will be a Dallas Cowboy by the end of the day. More coming up here in a second. Prize fix. It’s good to be right. Let’s shift away from the potential trade with the Cowboys. Minka Chub, we’ve talked a lot about them over the past 48 hours. Let’s talk about Rul Douglas now because this corner who has been flatout phenomenal for Miami this season on a one-year deal, signed right at roster cutdown day. I think the veteran has a very good chance to be dealt before the deadline later today. And I think it’s important to share this as well because this is going to be a large component of it all. He did get banged up in that Thursday night football game against the Baltimore Ravens. And Mike McDaniel said on Monday that Su Douglas, who has bumps and bruises, is actually not ruled out of the game this upcoming Sunday with the Buffalo Bills if he remains on the Dolphins roster. But that also is a signal to other teams that Rousul Douglas really isn’t hurt in a significant way. And even if you trade for him, he might not be ready to play this Sunday, but he should absolutely be ready to roll for the weeks going forward. And he is someone who will not have any injuries kind of lingering around and hindering him going forward. I think there are going to be teams interested in Rousul Douglas. There’s been buzz out there that the Jacksonville Jaguars, Lions, and Commanders called Miami potentially about Douglas. Now, I don’t really think Washington will do that. Although Marshon Latimore suffered a season ending injury with Jane Daniels’s gruesome arm injury. Why would the Commanders buy at the deadline? That team should look to sell if anything. But Detroit, Chicago, and Jacksonville are all intriguing options. We already know the Jaguars, who are sitting at 5 and three right now, swap Tyson Campbell for Greg Newsome, but that secondary still stinks. The Bears secondary is absolutely horrific. Just gave up, what was it? 42 points to the Cincinnati Bengals. And the Lions desperately need some cornerback depth as well. And Rousul Douglas is a player who’s a veteran. He’s a zone scheme guy, but he has been playing great football this season. And I think his value is a sixth round pick. I don’t think you can expect to get a good return, at least a return better than a sixth round pick. Because if we’re just calling a spade for spade, even though he’s been fantastic this year, he’s still 30 years old and on a one-year deal. So, there’s really no long-term value in any trade, which is why a late D3 pick is likely all you’re going to get in return. But with that being said, I do think Douglas will be a player people go after because of how well he’s played this season, allowing just a 57.5 completion percentage when targeted, a QB rating of 79.6, and he really hasn’t given up any big plays. He’s been phenomenal for the Miami Dolphins. He’s actually been so good that if you look at corners that qualify for at least 50% of the most snaps played by a corner in the NFL, Rousul Douglas is the fifth highest graded corner by Pro Football Focus. So out of all of the conversations we’ve had this year about the Dolphin secondary being atrocious and them needing to get help, they actually have a corner in Russul Douglas that is playing lockown football. And after all of the hoopla we made about trading away Jaylen Ramsay and not finding a legit replacement for him, RTOL Douglas has been better than Jaylen Ramsay this season. Funny how life in the NFL works. Deadline coming up later today. Over under one and a half trades made by the Mayab Dolphins. I think that’s a fair line. Could they trade Douglas and one of Chub or Minka? Could they trade both Chub and Minka and hit the over? Or are they going to make only one deal or none and go with the under? Hit your predictions down below. One sneaky name we haven’t talked about that I’ll tell you to keep an eye on is Jordan Brooks. I don’t think he gets traded linebacker for Miami who’s been great over the last two seasons, one year left on his contract. But listen, if Miami gets offered a third round pick for Brooks or a second round pick, you have to consider it considering that a linebacker giving you a day two pick in return who’s only got one year left on his deal would be a good one. I don’t anticipate him being dealt, but teams like Seattle who have a ton of injuries at linebacker, ironically enough, the team that let Jordan Brooks walk in free agency, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two teams that are really needing a linebacker. And if they ultimately see Brooks as a guy that could really raise the ceiling of their defense, well, maybe, just maybe, the Miami Dolphins deal him if they get a solid day pick.
