Jon Cooper started grilling Biz and the NHL on TNT crew π
There he is. Scope, thanks so much for joining us. Uh, very serious, important interview here. I, uh, I’ll start you with this one. What wisdom did you learn from Regg D? Hold on, hold on, hold on. Jesus. I’ve been in I’ve been in this league for I think 13 years. And basically, all I’ve ever done is uh, answer questions. That’s all I do. And you guys sit there and you just ask them. So, I think on this Halloween I’m just going to flip the script. So, I’m going to ask questions tonight. Um, so, uh, Hank, I’m going to I’m going to start with you, uh, with and and this is about an emotional peak. So, when you the peak of emotions, did you have more emotions back in, uh, the 2015 when the Cooper led Lightning beat you in game seven in the conference final uh, for your first uh, game seven loss? Or was it in the 2017 World Championships when you beat Cooper led Canada for the gold medal at the World Championships? Which fostered more emotions in you? Oh my goodness. Give it to him, Hank. Give it to him. I mean, I I was so convinced we were going to beat you uh in game seven coming back after that big road win against you guys. So, the fact you came up to New York and beat us what was it two nothing games? That one hurt. Uh that being said, coming back and beat you then the following year and see my Swedish flag go up. I mean I don’t know the most emotions. Sometimes the pain is just bigger than the the excitement when you win. So maybe the pain was bigger. True to that. Yeah. Okay. So Biz uh I asked the questions around here. I’m putting on the foil. I ask the questions around here. Okay. Why don’t you get me a soda? You get me an orange or a grape and none of that stinking root beer. All right. You’re on a popular podcast called Spitting Chicklets. Damn right I am. Uh, what would be what would have the least amount of impact if Ryan Whitney left or if you left the pod if me just like my career. I’m a fourthline podcaster. Whit can snap a tape to tape with Crosby. That’s why he’s got 25 sheets in the bank. They would have no impact if I left. That’s why uh yeah, that’s why he brought in Yans. But you know what though? I’d still I’d still be in the press box supporting them because I’m a good teammate and that’s why I put on a foil for the boys. Uh Ace Coop here. Um the your nickname. All right. Who gave it to you? And it’s okay if you say yourself. Well, you’re lucky you’re there and I’m not here because I’d punch your lights out for a dumb question like damn straight. Anyways, it’s an evolution of AC went into ACE. And if you knew that, you would have to ask the dumb question. Hang on a second. Yeah. Loser lap. Oh. Oh, I thought you were giving him the horn there. Little orange clover for So, as I was saying, keep up the dumb questions. Coupe. Not over there. Put the foil on and knock you out. You got it. I don’t know if that was an answer, though. I’m the real Anson brother up here. Okay. I’m the handsome brothers. I’m the handsome brother. Oh, we got one for Liam. Oh. Oh, that actually that was okay. I like that one. Uh or Liam, so you are the host of a national um broadcast in the NHL and you you host a panel. Um yet, and I get this question often times too, but you never uh played the game ever in your life. And not only that, like your kids don’t even play hockey, so you can’t even call yourself a hockey dad. What makes you qualified to be on this panel? Land the plane already coaches. Uh, I ask questions a little bit quicker than that for starters. I get to the point. Uh, that’s why I’m not on the panel. That’s why I’m not on the panel. And look, you know, it’s kind of a sore subject. The Mchumen have weak ankles. All right. That’s why we don’t play hockey. We play other sports poorly and uh we find our role, we weasel our way in, and then you have trouble getting rid of us. Uh, but yeah, land the plane. Like, you got to ask that question. You got to be quick with your words, succinct. Brevity is the key, my friend. Get them, coach. Get him, coach. He just said three words. I don’t know. Locker room. Where’s that little chipmunk? I heard a little chipmunk in the background laughing over there. Oh, he’s got three wins in a row. He’s having Yeah, he’s having There’s some giggles. Anyway, boys, happy Halloween. Good sports. We love you. Love you, pal. Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween. You’re lucky I’m not playing against you tonight. I’ll give you one. I’ll give you one on the way out. I’ll give you one question on the way out. Coupe, I have one. We started by talking about you been in the league 13 years, same place. What is the biggest challenge for a coach when you’ve been in one place for that long? I mean, that’s extremely challenging just thinking back of having the same coach for five, six years, you’ve done it for that long. What would be the the biggest challenge in your mind? Well, God, that’s a tough one. I can talk about long-winded answers. Uh, I I think there has to be first of all belief uh in ownership and your general manager. And I think a big part of that is, you know, Julian was here when Steve Eisermanman was here. So there was not much of a change. Everybody was in the organization together. That’s all stayed the same. So I think uh that’s a big part of it. But on a message side of things, I think you have to have a leadership group that that believes. And from day one, whether it was Stamos, Hedman, then it it it bled into the uh Mcdana, the points, the Gerardis, the Callahanss, the Cellis, into the Cutrovs, everybody’s been a big believer. And and I’ll be honest, winning helps. And we won. and we ended up winning some cups, but even in the in the dire moments and, you know, I think back in 2019, we got swept by Columbus, you know, there could have been cracks in the armor, but everybody still believed. And I think, you know, once we got over um the hump to win cups, um everybody’s there’s just belief and it doesn’t it they they understand that the message is coming from me, but everybody believes in each other. Coup, you’re the best. Thanks so much. Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween, boy. See you. Say upf.
Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper joins the NHL on TNT panel for a special Halloween interview. This time, he’s flipping the script and asking Biz, Hank, Liam, and Ace the hard-hitting questions himself.

Respect to Coop for this.
This was fantastic
"Ace, Coop here" is absolutely golden. That laughter without hesitation is all we need to know, that the audience and crew cant stand when he talks like that. Laughter to his face is long overdue
He should have asked Ace why he decided to play the race card like a little bitch when Michael Russo called him out for talking shit about Minnesota Wild fans instead of owning up to being a fucking idiot like a real adult would have done.
Stop itβs copper leave Hank and us ranger fans alone lol.
2:25 someone in the back couldn't hold it anymore π€£
I donβt follow the nhl. Why were those 3 so rude? Is that coach not liked?
Cooper is so smug is disgusting.
Jon Cooper has a great personality when not complaining that his momma didn't breast feed him and that's why the Panthers own him and his team… Good for you Jon!! Go Panthers!!!
