  1. Is this it for him? My guess is if he continues his career after this, it will be in the NPB

  2. I know he has three more years on his contract…but you gotta wonder if he makes it back after that

  3. I’m gutted for him. Darvish is my favorite Ranger pitcher ever and I doubt that will ever change.

  4. Can he just retire and join the pitching staff already? He and Niebla would be such a good pair

  5. I can see him come back after the lockout in ’27. MLB will be clamoring for big names to return and get people into ballparks. At that point he’ll have two years to recover and can slot in as a No. 5 starter. Lest we forget Jamie Moyer. Legend says he is still pitching whenever 9 or more are gathered in a field

  6. Man that sucks. Also, I completely forgot he’s under contract until the end of his age 41 season lmao

  7. That might be for him. He’s not going to retire given that he has 3 years left on his contract, but he may very well be phased out or bought out of that Padres squad when he comes back in 2027.

Darvish should’ve been a World Series winner. One of the best pitchers Japan has gifted to the MLB

  8. Imanaga will be a Padre. Now 3 of their starting pitchers from 2025 are gone, and JP Sears is their only lefty. Plus, he’s a home run pitcher and Petco is a pitchers park.

  9. There were so many Padres fans who believed that Darvish would voluntarily retire to terminate the horrible contract that extends to his age 41 season LOL

  10. Darvish out until 2028 (missing 2026 because of TJ and 2027 because of the lockout).

  11. Darvish during first four years of his $108M/6 year extension

    55G 20W 18L 290IP ERA 4.41 FIP 4.24 ERA+ 95 bwar 2.8 fwar 3.9 WPA -0.9

In fairness, he pitched great during the NLDS against the Dodgers, but it was such an unnecessary extension at the time (why in the world would you give a 6 year extension to a pitcher that would end when he is 42), and it aged even worse.

  12. Darvish deserves better.

Can’t help but blame the asstros and MLB for fucking with his career… and all the Dodgers fans that blamed him after 2017 and chased him out of LA. Mostly the asstros and MLB though.

Hoping he comes back strong and closes out his career back on top.

  13. I’m not joking when I say this but I really think he should retire. This is most likely a career ending injury at his age.

  14. He needs 8 more starts for the Padres to have pitched more for them than the Rangers. Interesting to me because I’ll always picture him as a Ranger in my head.
