  1. Embiid dragged the offense to a complete standstill in the final 6 minutes.

They were struggling before that, but they were at least moving the ball and getting some open looks. Can’t go back to the old days of Embiid isos down the stretch.

  2. Every time Embiid passed the ball they just passed it back to him lol, def took some bad shots but nobody else wanted to ball handle?

  3. correct me if im wrong but is this the first game we’ve seen that featured heavy zone defense?

  4. Wait we’re blaming Embiid for this when they collapsed with him off the floor? The whole reason he had to go back in gassed was because the team couldn’t hold the lead with him gone.

  5. The real issue is: McCain is back, played 15min yet VJ and Maxey are still averaging almost 40min???

  6. This is on Nick and Maxey to actually DO something about the offense and not run whatever the hell they call that. Embiid himself kept pushing and pointing to other guys, presenting himself as a decoy even in the 3rd quarter and pointing at Edgecombe to be aggressive in looking for his shot. It looked like everyone was fucking terrified shooting the ball during that 6 minute stretch and kept hiding behind Embiid, Grimes giving Embiid the ball at 3 seconds left so Embiid could shoot a fadeaway 3 is absolutely fucking terrible.

  7. Embiid and Maxey were bad down the stretch, but none of the other guys wanted to step up. There was a possession where Embiid tried giving it to Edgecomb multiple times and he just kept passing the ball back to him lol.

  8. The loss would be easier to stomach if it were competitive as in the leads were back and forth throughout the game and we came up short.

Whatever gameplan that was in the 4th, hopefully that’s a big learned lesson for tomorrow.

Season is still young too so really by December we’ll know where this team really stands.

  9. Embid looks so cooked. I almost feel like he should just play the last 20 minutes of these games.

  10. VJ’s main problem tonight was that he started up rough by missing a couple of shots he usually gets and then completely froze and stopped being aggressive. This is typical rookie behaviour.

Nurse needs to remind him to still go for it. And actually create plays for him despite his slow start. He was still as energetic, as defensive and trying to go for rebounds, but he was scared :/

  11. What really flipped this game was that the bulls started trapping maxey on the high screens, and nick nurse and the rest of the team could not find an answer for it all game. That’s unacceptable when you have a guy drawing that much attention 30 feet from the basket

  12. one possession that stuck out to me in the first half is when vj and embiid ran a screen and roll and vi got vucevic on the switch. vj passed the ball to embiid at the three point line. embiid passed it back to vj clearly wanting him to attack the slow footed vucevic. vj passed it back to embiid. embiid passed it back to vj. vj passed it back to embiid. embiid took a three and missed.

embiid lost us the game in the second half, but this possession is gonna stick out to me a lot throughout the season. it was like a conversation was being had on the court and vj was saying “i wont take nikola vucevic off the dribble b/c i’m a role player” and embiid was like “dude wtf lol” a lot of people want vj to take one a larger role on the team because he’s been so efficient, but he might not yet be ready for that. however, on the glass half full side of things, big shout out to vj for his first double double with rebounds.

embiid should get the blame for losing the game along with maxey for being black holes, but this was a team wide collapse.

mccain looked fucking awful lol. i was excited all day to watch him play. i literally wanted just one made three from him. thank god i don’t gamble.

  13. They finally have the pieces such that Embiid doesn’t need to be the entire offense. Not sure if it’s Morey, Embiid, Nurse or all the above – but they need to acknowledge that. Embiid is needed on defense so much more than offense. That’s where he needs to spend his energy and minutes. Not taking the ball from the top of the key and then running a 15 second iso while everyone else stands around and picks their nose.

  14. Love Jo and he’s still a really good player but he’s not what he was and the team has to stop spamming the offense through him like we used to

  15. I will say that defensively Embiid really picked it up after the first quarter. I thought his first quarter was putrid, like worst defender in the league level

After that I thought he did a lot better

  16. Also can’t wait for PG to come back so when Grimes has these terrible games he can be left on the bench

  17. Well, if the team wins tomorrow

The Sixers and Eagles will share the same record for 48 hours.

The loss is what it is but hopefully it’s a big “this offense plan isn’t working so let’s change it’ type of loss.

The team is still not playing at full strength with the roster so that’s a saving grace from all of this.

    On to the next!

  18. Tbh a good loss to take this early in the season. They learn more about themselves in this loss than a win would have.

  19. People are annoyed with Embiid but when Maxey is tired, grimes is cold and VJ is shying away from the moment than what do you want him to do?

  20. And now they’re all nice and tired after all those minutes to get smoked by the Cavs tomorrow 😎

  21. Feels like every player and nurse gets blamed but one dude somehow dodges his allegations and it’s just hillarious

  22. Embiid is ready and willing to defer to his teammates because he recognizes how good they can be.

Fucking VJ gotta realize that. That sequence where they played catch in the middle of the fucking game when they both had mismatches with Embiid telling VJ to go at his defender only for the clock to run out so Embiid had to bail them out with another end of clock shot. Goddamn man.

Maxey gotta be more assertive in being the number 1 option specially with Joel realizing it’s better if he defers. I know he’s tired but I would rather let Maxey shoot us out of games than lose with him being hesitant to take possessions away from Embiid then shooting a terrible shot when he had a wide open lane.

Embiid gotta communicate that he trusts his teammates and that it’s okay to lessen his usage and his shots. They were good when he got to pick his spots so he could have some defensive attention that makes it easier for everyone else to get involved. Making him shoot END OF CLOCK situations or ISO Ball when he doesn’t look confident is just fucking terrible basketball.

We also again, can’t fucking rebound because we’re too small. A 4 guard line up with an undersized Adem Bona isn’t gonna cut it specially when the other team is making a run.

  23. Gotta stop playing these guys 40 minutes a night. Maxey and VJ averaging like 41 minutes they will be run into the ground by the break.

Morey gets somehow an extended lease on his reputation picking the obvious stud at his spot when his disasterclass roster management has left us with zero depth again.

Why the hell do we have 40 year old Lowry, Drummond and Gordon taking up roster spots so we have not enough rotation players to get through games?

  24. This is part of the process of a long NBA season. Happens to great teams too. Sixers have to just roll with this one and try to learn something from it.

A lot of chefs in the kitchen – 1 former MVP, 2 former all-stars, a #3 overall pick, last year’s real ROY, and a player on a qualifying offer trying to get paid. Not necessarily an easy coaching job, but a good problem to have.

Sky is still the limit with this team. These guys like playing with each other…they’ll figure it out.

  25. Grimes hit none of his 3P tonight and they thought that the best game plan was to let him shoot at 3 seconds?

  26. Man that was absolutely fucking brutal but a lot of east teams have had disappointing games. As soon as we have a good game again I’ll forget about this mostly

  27. Lol this city has had so many bullshit comebacks that I’m not even mad when we get punk’d on one. Bound to happen.

  28. Always funny watching this sub do a complete 180 after losses lol. We really gotta figure out these 3rd quarters, and find a way to rest Maxey more. His fatigue is finally showing there late.

  29. Yall worry way to much about the regular season. This is going to happen to all teams because 82 games. Relax
