SHOCKING Blues Trade UPDATE… Insider Reveals WILD Blues Trade INCOMING | Blues News
We have a shocking St. Louis Blues trade update to go over today as an insider has revealed a wild update on the status of one player in particular. Not only that, but we’re going to break down multiple other updates from head coach Jim Montgomery on the status of a few players health and what this means for the Blues moving forward into their next couple of games. We’re going to break it all down in this episode of Blues Digest. But before we do that, a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. We’ve noticed that about 70% of you who watch these videos, 67% to be exact, are not subscribed to the channel. We’re trying to get it closer to 5050. So, if you’re out there watching this video and you haven’t subscribed yet, hit that subscribe button. You get to stay up to date with everything that’s going on with the St. Louis Blues. But, let’s jump right into it. We get a major trade update on one player in particular, and that is Oscar Sunquist. Very interesting one. But I want to start with this from Cam Robinson. He said that sources around the league say this is the best market in years for anyone dangling a top six center. The demand is huge and the prices reflect it. And because of that, I think that the price on other players like an Oscar Sunquist with so many injuries around the league as well will skyrocket because of what’s happening with this. So subsequent because of this, you know, everything is going to uh move up in terms of pricing. And now this from Cam Robinson as well. He also reported that on the Canucks center search. Now keep in mind the Vancouver Conucks are absolutely injured to no end at this point. I mean, they got ECHL guys playing in the AHL. They got AHL guys on their main roster. They have so many injuries. I can’t even keep up to date with it. One player that did get mentioned to me a couple of times is Oscar Sunquist from the St. Louis Blues. Now, does this make sense for the Blues? I think it possibly could, right? But I I don’t know if you want to trade a player like Oscar Sunquist for nothing in return really at this point in time because he’s a bit of a a glue guy to me. And we know what he’s about, right? Great vision on this play the other day, by the way. We know that he can still bring that offensive game to the table. We know what he’s about defensively. He’s won a Stanley Cup here before, of course, and then he moved on to a couple other teams, but now he’s back with the Blues. But to me, he seems like a glue guy, a guy that you can depend upon, a guy who can play physically, right? Who can play center, who can play on the wing? Do you want to give him up for nothing? I mean, at this point, the I I the Conucks have nothing to offer uh the St. Louis Blues that makes sense for the Blues besides a draft pick and probably a middle round draft pick. At this point in time, they have no players to offer. They’re not trading anyone off the main roster. It doesn’t make sense. They’re looking to acquire players to actually play in their lineup and make a difference and make them a bit of a deeper team. So, I think that’s interesting. If you want to look at it this way, you know, if the Canucks get Sunquist and then the Blues in turn get Sudter, that makes great sense, but that’s not how that worked out. Sudtor was acquired via free agency. So, very interesting stuff here for Oscar Sunquist. If you look at the last couple of years for Oscar Sunquist with the St. Louis Blues since he returned to St. Lewis uh 21 points, 20 points and so far this year in four games because obviously he got hurt uh and started the year late just a couple games ago, two points. So he’s half a point a game player so far this year, which is pretty good. Uh but obviously he’s been a guy in the bottom six that can contribute more so in terms of assist over the last couple of years. And listen, a guy like this that’s playing third, fourth line minutes, depending on where he’s playing and injuries, you’re not expecting guys like this to put up 60 points or anything like that. So, for him to put up 20 points, uh, play an honest game, a game that Jim Montgomery likes as well, you know, I think really helps the team. And I wanted to get into this quote from Jim Montgomery on Oscar Sunquist and what he brings to a lineup. He said that, you know, for a coach, uh, you can put him anywhere you want on the ice and he’s going to do the right thing defensively, offensively. He covers, he goes to the hard areas. And we know what Sunquist is about. I’m not so sure you want to give him up just because the Conucks need a player and you might get a middle round draft pick back. This is a guy that could make a significant impact come playoff time if this team finally figures it out. And we’ve been talking about that for the last little while uh and gets it together here and turns it around. He’s a guy that, you know, you can depend on him defensively. We know, like I brought up earlier in the video, that he can chip in offensively and we know that he can play physical and he goes to the areas that a lot of guys do not like to go to. So why would you give up a player like that? I don’t know if it makes sense. If the package does make sense for the Blues in terms of, hey, the Conucks are desperate. they want a player like this and they’re giving up more than they should. Yeah, maybe you do look at trading him and giving guys like, you know, D’Vorski more of an opportunity, an everyday NHLer. That could make some sense. Get him in there as a winger a little bit earlier than people expected. That could make some sense. But, you know, you’re freeing up $1.5 million in cap space. He signed till the end of this year. He’s a UFA anyway, but again, with his size, his weight, uh his experience, I’m not sure you want to give up this player. But let me know in the comments how you feel about this. I don’t think you give him up for nothing. If it’s a middle or a late round pick, I think you hold on to this player. I think he can be a great player. You have $6.5 million in LTIR space anyway during the course of this regular season if you want to go out and make a move at the deadline because of Tory Krug’s uh cap hit that’s on LTIR. So, you don’t really have to free up that much cap space. you have some guys that you can call up from Springfield that if you, you know, you need them to make a difference like a D’vorki, like a Stenberg that we’ve been talking about, uh, I don’t think they’re in a bad way besides the play, uh, in terms of, you know, having to move out Cap or anything like that. I think they’re fine. So, again, if it’s a package that, you know, kind of blows the Blues away, maybe you look at it, but I would hold on to Sunquist. Let me know how you feel about that in the comments. One thing I wanted to move on to is one thing with some of the moves that they are making and an update on one player in particular from Jim Montgomery. And I thought this was interesting from Lou. And shout out to Lou. He’s been doing fantastic work all year. Not just this year, but of course all the time. But uh not only did the St. Louis Blues recall D’Vorski on Wednesday, but he’s going to be in the lineup against the Vancouver Conucks. And full disclosure, I’m recording this right before the game. You guys will see this the next morning. Hopefully they pick up a big win against an injured team. And if they don’t, oh my goodness, we’re gonna have a lot to talk about on the channel. That is for sure. Uh, but he’s getting power play time. And I think this could be a message. And Lou is asking the question from Jim Montgomery to some other guys like, “Hey, wake up here. This guy’s coming from Springfield and he’s leapfrogging a lot of you guys. Let’s get going here.” And I’m looking at guys specifically like Dylan Holloway. Hollywood’s got to get going this year as well. I projected him to score at least a point a game. Uh, he’s got to get going if that’s going to happen. So, um, need him to be better. And in terms of some other updates with the team, Jim Montgomery did come out and say, and we covered this a little bit in our video yesterday, that Robert Thomas is taking steps, uh, to be a player again. Very interesting wording here. That’s for sure. Uh, both Mark and I thought that Montgomery was saying that he was going to, you know, step in as a player. It’s just worded very weirdly. And the fact that he’s saying he’s going to become a player again, I don’t know. Anyway, uh, but doubtful for the Canucks game, of course. Uh, looks like he’s not going to play. And then beyond that, it looks like he could be making a return soon. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to be out longterm. Some of the language that was used before was a little concerning, but it looks like he will be okay and probably back in the lineup sooner rather than later, which is good. Jim Montgomery also said that D’vorski is going to play in the Canucks game. That’s something we’re going to be keeping an eye on, and we’ll have some content after the game. Of course, by the time you guys see this, it will be old, but uh in terms of this at least, but uh he’s also going to be on the power play, and I wanted to touch on that a little bit. These are the power play lines. He’s going to be on the second unit with Snugaroo Sudter who have some synergy uh synergy so far in this early season. D’Vorski Fowlers on the back end and you have Sunquist netfront which is something I’ve been talking about. Why would you trade away a guy that’s playing on the second power play unit? Of course, I understand there’s injuries and all that stuff, right? And they’re dealing with that and they have neighbors is out right now and uh obviously Robert Thomas, but I think this is a really really good opportunity for D’vorki to stick around for a little bit. Maybe stick around even longer if they’re looking at trading uh you know, Oscar Sunquist possibly to the Vancouver Conucks. And a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button if you haven’t yet, but let me know how you feel about all of this in the comments below. Personally, unless it’s a package that really blows you away, I don’t think you’re trading Oscar Sunquist. You don’t really need the cab space, per se, why would you trade away a big player that does things that a lot of players don’t like to do, is a, you know, a culture guy. He’s been here for a long time. I don’t think you want to do that. It doesn’t make sense. The package would really have to uh be real sweet for the Blues. Let me know how you feel about that below. Let me know how you feel about D’Vorski moving forward. Robert Thomas and his season so far. Obviously down with an injury right now. and we’ll keep you up to date with everything else going on with the St. Louis Blues. And before we wrap up, we’ll get to comment of the day, which today comes from PT Raw 12. And I thought this was an interesting one. Feel free to pause and read the whole thing, but they basically said, “No more uh sugar coating it. Let’s get these guys up, give them some confidence to perform.” And he’s talking about D’Vorski and some of the other guys. I mean, when you get an opportunity like this, you got to step up to the plate. And I think that it’s a very interesting point. Very good comment. Thank you everyone for your comments daily. Your support on the channel has been absolutely unbelievable and we like seeing everyone’s thoughts and opinions even if they’re a little bit different than ours. Of course, we like to see everything from different lenses sometimes as well. So, thank you everyone for tuning in. Your support on the channel and let me know how you feel in the comments about Oscar Sunquist. Should be very interesting. We’ll see you guys in another video tomorrow. The Blues look lost defensively, hanging the goalies out to dry–this team is not playing well at all, and have to bear down. 0-5-1 in the last six is brutal and , if they keep spiraling, the season could get lost very early on. Sunny is one of those guys the Blues need to keep, he's gritty, tough, and knows how to win.
Blues goaltender has not been up to par, leaders are not leaders, and the look of disgust on the coach's face when schenn lost the puck in the shootout says a lot
snuggerud is going to be an utterly elite forward. Dvorsky is well on his way. He looked damn good last night.
Where is the defense man
This is the first time I can ever remember Jim Montgomery having a talented team and not having success.
His defensive system worked so well and his teams succeeded when the talent was there in Boston and Dallas offensively.
The Blues have been the most disappointing team in the league thus far.
No one likes to say it, but goalies have really sucked so far this year.
They can have Texier
Letting Sundqvist get away for nothing would be right up there with the Bolduc trade
I cant for the life of me cant figure out why they dont try mailloux on the PPG
Binner is a legend in the Lou ,but he's struggling.the defense in front of him has not been good and the turnovers in transition has been the worst, with that said im pretty sure that Binner has a big goose egg on the inordinate amount of uncontested breakaways , he's not expected to stop all of them but tbis is one on one , he should be stopping a few . And his head is in tbe same realm as most of the rest of the team ,a second too late on positioning in the net, as far as the rest they seem to a second too late on cashing in on passes etc. Im starting to think that 1.6 seconds from game 7 might be lingering in the back of this teams collective minds
We may need a back-up goaltender if this goaltending doesn’t shape up. We are 10 games in with not one but both goalies playing like (well you fill in the blank).
Cam Robinson might have had one to many
A Blues trade is nothing more than a wake up call, to wake everyone up!!
Oscar Sundvist is playing better now than 80% of our top 5 forwards!!!
Blue defense is a joke, mostly from bad assistant coaching!! Players look lost on defense!!

The Blues are struggling, missing two key players, and need vet players who contribute to team on ice and off. Let’s trade Sunny, the guy who checks all those boxes. Makes absolutely no sense.
If they're going to let Sundqvist walk, then I would just as soon see Steen take the reins early and go all-in on a full on swap of everybody on the roster born in 1998 or older. All of them. Thomas should be the oldest player on the roster. Bring in some stop-gap older players if you need to, but build the roster for next year. Why would I advocate such a drastic move? Is it an over-reaction at this point? 2019 was an exquisite anomaly. Miracle hot streaks notwithstanding, that Cinderella story won't be repeated by this cast of characters. And apart from 2019, the other 30 years of excellent mediocrity I've been witness to has been long enough. The current "core" has driven some of the best coaches in the team's history right out of town. The current "core" has a lot of talent, but no identity worth keeping. Pick something. Punishing forechecks. Puck possession. Fast transition with active defense. World class chirpers, dirty instigators, elite special teams. I don't care what it is, as long as the team knows what they're supposed to be doing and starts holding each other to that standard. Heck, bring back the good old boring prevent defense and ice a team of shutout specialists. 1-0 victories were more exciting back in the day than a lot of people remember. But this hodge-podge cast of talented people doing their own thing, regardless of who is coaching, and then crapping the bed at the first sign of adversity has got to end. I don't see how you change that culture without drastic and rapid roster changes.
“Insider” sources need to be explained, there are so many smoke blowers out there. If it’s Jeremy Rutherford for example then it’s not a rumor it’s just armchair GMing
The only way it would sense is if we get somebody substantial in return. I really hope they don’t do it. I love Sunny as a Bluenote. We already lost him once!
Dead set against this! I love Sunny. He has bleed Blue for us too many times to count. F this.
It's all smoking mirrors, no trades, just trying to get their attention
The only reason to trade Oscar Sunquist is to go with youth movement
Dvorsky looked great against Canucks
Getting 18+ minutes
Monty even pulled Buch off the PP and put Dvorsky out there.
Bring up Otto as well at least til Neighbors comes back
Looks like the Blews need to rebuild
I'll be pissed if they move Sunny. He's a bright spot of this team
Oh please do I would give him for a bad a pucks and bring up Otto
I can’t see the blues trading sunny. He is exactly what the blues need more of and he is bought in to the team culture. They need to trade Faulk.
Don't know why we'd be trading Sunny before trading Faulk but okay sure.
Faulk has gotta have pictures of Doug in a bikini or something. Shit is crazy he's been on this team for this long
Sundqvist adds more to the Blues than he could to any other team out there, so I doubt any team would offer enough to make it worth losing him.
Texier, on the other hand, will probably not be playing many more games in a Blues jersey, whether he's traded, waived, or just kept in the press box for a while.
trade the hardest working guy on our time???? No!!
Sunny is Monty's Binky and we all love him in St. Louis and he loves St.. Louis
Sunny ain’t gettin traded.
