Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz said he wasn’t surprised with the lack of activity from the Chiefs before the trade deadline due to salary cap limitations. He mentioned the Chiefs are going to have to pay Rashee Rice and Trent McDuffie very soon.

  1. A Football team is going to have to pay their good players.

It’s not like we could have extended Trent before the season, right?

  2. Rice is damn good. He’s also had injuries and off the field trouble. What are the chances we get him signed to a friendly deal?

Or is it more likely he demands top dollar just based on his skills?

  3. Great insider, “I thought maybe they’ll do something, maybe not” nobody without inside information could’ve thought about that.

  4. I really hope we’re smart with their contracts. They are both fantastic players, but neither of them should get top market contracts. I’m not too worried about Rice getting it, but McDuffie will probably demand it. And maybe hes worth it, but to me, a slot corner needs to be paid like a slot corner and not get outside lock down corner money.

  5. I would not be shocked if the Chiefs trade McDuffie and resign Rice. They have Kelce retiring and Worthy seems more like a gadget player with Brown also gone and Juju a year older so they need to keep as many weapons as possible.

  6. People wanting the Chiefs to go “all in” on a specific season are always going to be disappointed with Veach. Veach is all about dynasty while Mahomes is in his prime, and that means not trading high draft picks for rentals. Draft picks are way too valuable when you have so many players making bank.

  7. A 3rd round pick for a half season rental is kinda expensive.

People bring up Toney, but he came with what three years of control right? Obviously Toney ended up being terrible, but there was maybe a potential for a high upside there?

  8. This makes no real sense. Rashee is on rookie deal next year 2026, even if they give him a huge extension, they’ll still backload it so 2027 is a cheap year. Anyone we picked up now would be off the books by 2028. Also he’s missed a year and a half, and owes a lot of money in civil suits, can probably get him extended for a discount this off-season just cause he’ll actually need a signing bonus.

McDuffie still has 5th year next year, and could also franchise another, but he’s definitely a trade possibility if he’s going to want around 30mil a year. Our DB coach seems to be able to make a decent unit out of anything, so might be the place to go cheaper, as our Dline stinks and we draft poorly at is, going to have to trade/FA someone there.

  9. Hot take: I don’t want to pay McDuffie.  He’ll be expensive as hell.  I’d rather get pass rush and continue to roll with late round corners.

  10. The Eagles are paying a ton of dudes but find a way to constantly add talent. Veach needs to get with today’s aggressive GMs

  11. I wouldn’t pay Rice. Trade him for picks and just draft another WR. Dude is a huge liability

  12. The CJ contract really fucked them

To the people saying how WR are replaceable

You remember how this offense looked without Rice???

Let’s go back to practice squad and 35 year old WR and dink and dunk offense and waste Mahomes some more….Genius strategy

  13. Hopefully we’ll be able to negotiate a cheaper Price for Rashee based on his off the field issue
