From Rapien who in turn got it from Fowler.
Teams I spoke to believed Cincinnati wanted a second-rounder for him. Dallas, which pursued Hendrickson, considered that steep.
For context, the rumor was that Trey's agent promised Cincy a first-round pick during the offseason, and there was still a rumor that we wanted a first for him as of a few days ago.
And for comparison, he's probably worth a late 3rd comp pick in '27 if we let him go in free agency and he stays healthy on a new team.
But yeah, it looks like Cincy lowered their standards and there still wasn't enough interest from other teams.

2nd for a broken rental is steep
He’s on a downward slope and getting injured didn’t help his value, so that’s not surprising.
Its difficult to get a 1st or 2nd round pick for an aging player who isn’t even healthy enough to play at the time of the deadline. If he had played against Chicago and looked good, I’d bet someone pays a 2. If he had been healthy and playing great all year, we definitely get a 2 with a small chance at a 1 (unlikely, but possible).
Part of the risk you run. As it is, Trey is here the rest of the year and I am 99% sure they plan on tagging him.
Ah yes a 2nd round pick…I’m sure that pick will be used well /sarcasm off.
You can’t blame the FO on this then I wouldn’t trade him for less than a 2nd either when I can get a 3rd round comp pick for letting him walk anyway
Could have got on easily 6 months ago plus more.
We should get a 3rd round comp pick for letting him walk and presumably any team trading for him expects to make the playoffs so we be giving him up for a modest move up in round 3. The value of thay in terms of draft capital is a later 4th or early 5th and I think the half season + outside chance of retaining him next year is worth more than that
After all that drama this summer he’s just not been good this year. If he was making the same impact he was talking about that he brings to a team, then someone would’ve snapped him up quick. But he’s regressed just like everyone was worried about
For the life of me I will never understand how trade valuation works.
Like I get downvoted for saying would’ve been nice to get better than a 7th for Wilson. But to me being worth a 7th round pick says “you’re only barely good enough to play on a practice squad in the NFL” but if that’s the case then why would the team want him in the first place? If you genuinely think he’s serviceable enough to fill the gap your team has then isn’t that worth at least a 6th?
And I’m sure with that 2nd round pick they would have drafted an absolute stud. In Tobin we trust ✊
The issue is you also have to pay him. Giving a guy over 30 a long term contract is risky business. So it’s not just the pick, it’s a monster contract that has to be weighed against a team’s upcoming expenditures.
That is why it made little sense to trade him anyway. Tag him for next year and have a hope for 2026
The second round pick is fair
Maybe could have gotten that this past offseason when they were asking for a first. Unreal.
