NBA Nightcap Breaks Down Bulls’ 5-0 Start | NBA on Prime

Knicks and the Bulls. East group C matchup. Jaylen Brunson, Josh Giddy. First quarter. Josh Giddy to Matis Buzzale. He slams it down. Get up there, young fella. He One thing Josh Giddy can do is he can pass. He can make plays. He can get guys involved. He’s very good at a little bit of every two ball today. Giddy for three. He can pass and he can shoot. Wait on. He had a careerhigh 32 points in the third. The Knicks are fighting back. Jaylen Brunson for three. This is solid. It’s good. Knicks trail by as many as 22. Brunson f with 29 in the fourth. Here it in the hold on. It feels like we had so much talk about who the Knicks were going to be offensively. We kind of watched them slip defensively. That was such a point of emphasis. And I mean they had what four guys score 20 plus points Durk and gave up 135. Yeah. If you look at if you look at that box score, there’s no way in heck they you think they they lost that game, but they gave up 135 to the to the Bulls. But I’m not sure. Is now the time I can give the love to the Bulls or is Absolutely. Let’s do it. Chicago, listen up. I 5-0 for the first time since Michael Jordan era. Uh so they’re they’re playing incredible. Uh I love that I think they have six guys and uh averaging 12 points or more. Uh they don’t have one guy that just gets cooking, gets his isolation game on. Uh they have they have guys that have moved the ball that uh Billy D coach put put him in a system uh where they pass and cut. They randomly back cut. They do a lot of pick and pick and rolls are confused then drive kick. Uh everybody is is getting to the paint and uh it’s been it’s been super fun to watch. This is this is all without Kobe White. Hey, I got a question. Yeah. Y’all know where Billy Donovan used to coach at? Oh my god. got to catch the great UD. Hey, but seriously, all jokes aside, what I see from what I see from the Knicks is offensively, they’ve obviously tweaked some things offensively, but defensively what they didn’t prepare for is the game is faster now. And what I saw when they played against Miami and what I saw with this young Bulls team is they can’t get up and down and sustain it for 48 minutes with the fast-paced teams. So, that’s something that obviously I know you worked on getting the ball out of Brunson hand and different things like that, but on the other side, don’t forget the game is faster. guys are getting up and down and I’ve seen them struggle twice with fast-paced teams. Absolutely. And coming into tonight, in those four games where the Bulls of course were undefeated, a different guy led them in scoring every game. That’s tough. So, Bulls look for real. It’s tough to game plan for. That’s tough. Who’s the guy? I mean, Matas has had 25 plus. Obviously, Giddy tonight was got it going. Um, that’s a tough team to to to to game plan for, to guard, to um, a team that just knows they have to move the ball, they have to run, they have to play fast, they have to play hard. Uh, we said it earlier, you can make up for so many mistakes by just playing hard. That’s what this Bulls team’s doing. C, can I just touch on V for a second? I’ve been a fan since he was in Orlando. You can book him for 20 and 10. You can book Vouch for 20 and 10. Now, you might put him in some pickeros and get him in trouble and spoke, but you can book Vouch for 20 and 10. He’s going to get it in the paint. He can shoot the three. He’s going to rebound. It’s a serviceable big. He doesn’t get the credit that he’s deserved. But Vouch can go. Absolutely. He can play. When we look at this Eastern Conference, though, what are we seeing coming into the year? Everything was the East is wide open. There’s a lot of injuries, but what we’re seeing right now are the teams that we thought would be good are struggling a bit. And the teams that we weren’t necessarily talking about are playing really well. The Magic are one of those teams that aren’t looking exactly like we thought. Blake. Yeah. To me, this off season getting Bane was okay. That’s great. That’s exactly what they needed. But then you watch them play, the offense looks clunky. Like I don’t think they’re utilizing Bane in the way that I thought maybe they would. And and some of that just takes time. Like it just does. And and a lot of times, you know, it’s our job to sit here and pick teams apart and it’s been a week. It’s been a week and a half. Um, so hopefully they can get to it. Um, but you’re you’re you’re right. I mean, Cleveland, New York, Orlando, like those were top four teams. Yeah. One and two and then maybe three and four in a lot of people’s uh preseason predictions. So, um I think we’ve said it over and over and over covering up for mistakes by just playing hard. Some of these teams have come out and they’re just kind of going through the motions. And the teams like the Chicago, the teams like like the Miami’s Miami San Antonio Spurs. Oh, Spurs. It also helps to have guy named Wimby. I guess I have no problem with the offensive struggles because you understand that you got two guys that can go get their own. You bringing in another guy that can help. So I have no problem with that. Well, my issue is is the defensive struggles. How do you go from the number two defensive team in the league to 21st? to to me that is the problem because regardless if you’re struggling offensively as long as you get stops you’ll give yourself a chance and right now I think this team is struggling to find their identity. I don’t know why because you’ve hung your hat on your defense for the last two or three years. Anybody that knows anything in this league know you don’t want to run pick and rolls against Orlando because they going to flatten you out and switch everything because they got those kind of guys. So to me the struggles offensively are starting to impact their defense and that’s what you don’t want and I trust that Mo will fix that because he’s that kind of guy. But with those guys, I would say get back to your identity. Get back to who you were. Start flying around, start pulling triggers, defend, and the offense will get there. Yeah. Well, offense certainly does need to get there. Orlando has been outscored by 35 points with Vancero and Bane on court together this season. So, a lot of things for them to figure out.
