Wow, didn’t see this coming. I feel awful for him and hope he recovers well. Helps us with tanking at least, and probably saves us some money on his next contract.
This is bananas. Also the tank is on.
Starting to think that may be the nail in any play-in hopes. All for the tank
What the fuck. Feel so bad for him… he was off to a great start. The tank is definitely on I guess
Didn’t they say it was shoulder bursitis? Where did the torn labrum come from?
WHAT?
As a Jazz fan living in Phoenix I can tell you Nurkic is not the guy. Tank is on.
Guarantees that we are going to keep our pick this season pretty much. It’ll also be interesting to see how Hardy handles this long-term. Will Flip or Hendricks get minutes at C, or will they roll with Nurk & Oscar?
AJ Dybantsa, you better love Utah already
Cam Boozer, your dad better sell Utah to you as he played here and works in the front office now
Peterson, get prepared to like Dirty soda and fry sauce buddy
It’s tanking time. We play like shit without Kessler. Our starting center is Nurkic. Poor 50 year old Kevin Love, he might after to play 20 mpg. Maybe we should try and get Mo for the 3rd time
Good. We need another top 5 pick this year. Seriously this draft class is fire. Not good that he’s hurt. Just good gives us a reason to tank
Horrible news. He had taken a true step forward. Wonder if this is something that turned into a torn labrum or something he attempted to play through and this occurred.
He had taken a true step forward offensively and obviously is this team’s heartbeat defensively. It sucks for him financially as well considering the contract situation and the fact he’s been pretty injured in general over the years. Increases the likelihood we can resign him on a pretty friendly deal.
I feel awful for him. That’s the main thing. Just sucks for Walker so much. It does help with tanking but that’s not the way we wanted to do it because development of Walker matters more. I honestly really don’t like the fact the first thing people think with news like this is “here comes the tank”….this season has a lot more value to it than tanking, folks. But Walker going down is a big loss when it comes to development and the whole purpose of this season, which is growth. He was central to that.
Means Nurk is gonna be the starter going forward. It changes this team because he doesn’t have the the rim protection nor the finishing/rim running Walker does. Walker was 70% from the field, Nurkic is 39% right now. It eliminates the play finishing option for Keyonte. The big thing is it makes this team extremely perimeter oriented. Think you have to start Taylor now for perimeter defense to lessen the loss and load on Nurkic as an interior option. Lauri/Flip/Nurk is just too slow.
Is this real? Why does the timestamp on the tweet say 8:51 PM?
Edit: I guess it’s real.
It never seemed like he was fully comfortable with it this season. Hopefully this clears it up and he can come back full strength next year
90% of responses are “tanking!”….like, my gosh. Does it ever get exhausting. Jeez Louise. Can we for just one post keep the focus, especially here, on Walker and our big guy getting healthy. There is no silver lining to our big man going down. He’s central to this season which was development and growth.
You all can’t even enjoy games because you think one win in November is cataclysmic. So annoying.
Walker, heal up. You were putting the league on notice. I’m sure you will again and you’ll be fully healthy too.
That’s awful. He was playing great. Damn it!
Sad for Kess.

Thats horrible news for Walker. I feel bad for the guy. This is going to hurt him financially.
That said, a repeating theme in these comments is “the tank is on”. The tank has been on the entire time and is only going to get ramped up. We just finished the easiest portion of our schedule 3-4.
A season without my GOAT. 🙁
Two things:
1- this is a win-win for Walker and Utah since some guys never get the surgery on this and never properly heal, and for Utah they stay bad for another season that they need to
2- sucks for Walker in the sense that he was so excited to play and the season is over so early
This is so perfect for the Jazz’s 2026 tanking plans. Our defense will be terrible without him
How bad, in terms of affecting career longevity, is a torn labrum?
Just makes it more likely that Lauri is traded now. With his recent play and now this he his a huge trade bait that will net a big return. Wish he could stay but I don’t see how he would be happy here for another year.
Call me crazy but I think it’s insane to hear that a young hardworking man has suffered a terrible injury and celebrate or call it good.
We probably would have tanked anyway but this is that kid’s life and future, and this news is life altering for him. Nothing to cheer about.

Ethical tanking in progress.

Walker checks out of the season shooting 75% from 3. There goes my hero…
Amazing he played so well despite the injury.
I see the Spurs haven’t been using Kelly Olynyk…
