Good for him now….
There was never a scenario where the Cousins/Penix off-season would be defensible.
If Cousins was good for 2-3 years, you wasted your 1st-round pick on his backup.
If Penix was the guy, you tied up 15% of your salary cap in HIS backup.
Now we’re in a situation where neither of them are particularly good and we’re still gonna be paying Cousins until Penix is 28 years old. We guaranteed a guy $100M over 4 years only to bench him after 12 games and move on to the rookie we could have just built around in the first place.
