  1. I’ve always said that he’s the best player in the league to study if you are a non-superhuman athlete trying to improve your game. The way he’s been creating space inside the arc this year at his size is mind-blowing.

The shooting splits on a tiny sample are making a lot of people miss the leap he’s taking this year (again). By midseason when his threes have evened out we’ll have a different narrative about him imo.

  2. It’s no coincidence at all that Payton had his *best shooting* game of the season, 58% (current average on the season is 41% FG).

He was able to be the microwave off the bench this game because he fouled twice in the first 40 seconds.

This is another sign that he is best suited to help our team win games in a 6th man role.

  3. It’s a great example of a fast player using a combination of the threat of his speed plus a tight handle to generate a great shot against length.

I coach, and so many fast players want to play like their foot is jammed on the accelerator.
