I’d love him to stay for one more year and I bet he accepts his Q/O
I’d be shocked if he gets more than 22 million on the open market
I’m shocked his QO is $22.05 million

Me, and with that being his QO, I am 99% sure he will be returning lol
The best hitter on our team? Yeah, he can stay.
I hope he stays we have a ton of young 2B talents in our system so this short term deal is great

Please keep him.
would love a professional hitter in the lineup, especially because i think we may be a year away from be able to count on mcgonigle. he was dealing with a hernia for most of the second half, too. sign me up for gleyber
I actually like this deal. Offer a little more for a 1 year deal. Understand he might want some guarantees on a longer deal but 22M is a nice haul.
I hope he takes it. He was so good for most of the season and only dipped because he carried an injury. Would have loved to have seen what he could have done for us in the playoffs if he didn’t have that.
Gleyber will get more than 22 per year on a multi year deal somewhere like NY. Tigers are just positioning themselves for the compensation draft pick here. That’s how Harris got Max Andersen so kind of a big deal. Basically a late first round pick.
He will decline it, I bet. But, it wouldn’t be the worst thing if he accepted the deal. When he was healthy he was real solid.
he had a good season with the Tigers, faded in the 2nd half (like every other hitter…) likely due to the hernia he just had surgery for. If he accepts, the infield situation remains crowded, but would love to see him back in 2026

The $22.05 million is the average salary of the 125 highest paid players in MLB.
Despite the qualifying offer, Torres is likely headed to FA. The QO has been in effect since 2012. Over the years, only 14 players have accepted a QO.
If you’re good enough of a FA to have earned a QO, odds are you’re good enough to get a multi-year deal at a similar AAV.
He was great until he got injured and a faded down the stretch. Never a bad idea to have an extra bat, but i do wonder if he would squeeze McGonigle out of a spot. Especially with Kieth and Tork already cemented. Someone’s gotta be able to play 3B!
I’d love for him to take it, but I’d be surprised if he does. He had a very good year and I’d assume he wants to capitalize on that with a longer term contract. Wouldn’t blame him for that, either.
Not knowing much about our prospects, it looks like the Tigers have Hao-Yu Lee and Max Anderson ready to come up next season. Are either of them legitimate options for full time 2nd base?
Not saying I don’t want Torres back, just wondering what other pieces we have to consider.
Nah hes gonna block mcgonigle. Hes gotta get up this year
I would love him to stay and I think had he not had that injury for the last half of the season he probably gets a better contract on the open market but the steep decline in production makes that gamble a bit less safe so hopefully he takes the offer and sticks around for another year.
I like it. He was good hitter last year, and seems to be a good clubhouse presence.
Of course want him back, and honestly a 1 year QO for this amount seems like a pretty good deal for both sides.
I know most of the time this is usually just to get draft picks if they leave in free agency (like the Cubs extending this offer to Tucker), but seems like this might actually be one of the cases where it fits what both sides want.
I’d love for him to stay but I doubt he does. Glad we offered the QO so at least we get a compensatory pick for him.
$22milion for the 80th best batter in the league by OPS seems excessive, so I’m surprised he thinks he is worth more on the free market. I understand he was injured, but that doesn’t scream “So pay him a bunch!” to me.
I’d love Gleyber back for another year! He’s been a good part of the lineup.
Yep
Definitely want him back. His drop off was likely due to injury
100%. Easy answer.
No thanks, its time for McGonigle.
If he accepts, great. We can make a push while we still have Skubal
If he declines, I believe we get a third round compensatory pick. Which we would NOT have gotten had we not made the QO
Bye
I do.
I’m kinda expecting him to take it. He only got $15 mil last year without QO compensation attached, I’d be surprised if he does a ton better than 22 this year as probably a Tier 2 IF option in this market. Unless he wants a longterm deal. Good move for the Tigs either way I think.
He doesn’t hit 0-6 in elimination games so yeah please keep him
I don’t not like him but man that really makes me think theyre going to just run it back with this lineup next year and maybe have keith and kevin m at 3rd and Baez and Zmac at SS
Of course, he was one of our best players
Please come back! Great veteran presence & he & Javy’s chemistry: 🔥
Dude was useless in the postseason
Imagine being offered 22 million dollars to play baseball and being like “nah”.
Like, I get it if he thinks he can get more elsewhere, but damn.
Me. I do.
It’s not about the annual salary, it’s the total contract. Bergman turned down 2 years 84M.
Im okay with not getting locked into a long/expensive deal with him.
Colt Keith posted a 109 wRC+ this season. That’s pretty close to what Torres did. I’m happy to push that money somewhere else
1 year offer? Wtf, but i shouldn’t act surprised, Harris didnt even offer term to Skubal
