New York Islanders Forward Kyle Palmieri Gives Back Through The Kyle Palmieri Foundation
the Kyle Palmer Foundation. Looking back on it, when I started it, it was really just an opportunity to try and better the lives of the people I see on a daily basis in my family. Kyle’s sister is married to an army ranger and he was deployed to Afghanistan at the time and they had just had their first child. She ended up moving back to New Jersey while he was gone. And so around that time, we started a squad 21. We reach out to organizations who who support our veterans and their families. And we just have them out to a hockey game where they can come together as a group and spend some time and I’m fortunate enough to to be able to spend a little time with them after the games and take pictures, sign autographs, and sometimes they’re huge hockey fans and there’s a lot of times where it’s their first time ever watching a hockey game. We would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Palary because they’re a big supporter of the military. Some of our guys we can’t afford tickets. So having come in with their family, you have a night awesome seats. This is amazing and we can’t thank them enough. In 2018, we expanded it from just the squad 21 program into the full Kyle Mary Foundation. We just did an October fest at Pro and Garden City. People were able to come support great causes. We partnered with the Viscardi Center and the entire team showed up and showed their support for the military community here. So, it was really special. There are so many that come home that struggle with so much mental health, physical health, economic stability, and so calling attention to that and honoring them is really important. I think as a family, we want to do everything we can to make the lives of our veterans and their families better. And this is just something that we have so much fun and have so much pride in what our foundation has been able to do.
The Kyle Palmieri Foundation was founded in recognition of Kyle’s sister Taylor, who serves in the Air National Guard, Kyleโs brother in law Stephen, an Army Ranger & those who served & continue to serve.
The Foundation supports veterans & active military with outings to UBS Arena & more.
