Who is your Maple Leafs All-Time starting lineup? π
Now, we may need his help because I’m gonna put all three of you. How are you, buddy? Shot there, bud. Nice to see you. How you doing? You’re playing. Uh, you’re watching your first game tonight. Yeah. First NHL game tonight. Well, first game in Toronto. He’s seen a few back home in Calgary, but uh gets a little shy when the microphone’s there. You excited, bud? Yeah. You’re doing great. Uh, let me put you guys on the spot. a little segment we’re going to start up and that is uh if you had to name your all-time Leafs starting lineup. You can put yourself in it, but you got to tell me who you’d like to play with. I’m talking every position and a head coach. It can be all time or somebody you played with and for. I leave it open to you. Heels, you start things off. Give Jay a minute. I’m not going to name all the players, but you’re gonna name them all. starting lineup. I would say if Johnny Bower uh there’s no one better than the guy for for those that don’t know when our kids were this young Johnny Bower was Santa Claus for the Christmas party really and we’ve got pictures of Johnny with our kids on his lap and that’s just he was a great goalender. I would pick Johnny all time and I would think okay you could pick Jacqu Blunt, you could pick Bernie Pant, you could pick Bruce Gamble. I’m going to take Curtis Joseph and up front I’m going to take Matt Sundine. I’m going to take Dave Keon. I’m going to put those guys in my rarified air list up front and the back end I’m going to take Borea Saloming all day long. Arguably, uh he would not skate in the summer, not train in the summer. We would do it all summer. He would show up the first day before training camp and be the best player on the ice, but he was a pioneer for so many players. So, I’m going to pick those players as my go-to. I don’t even need wingers and I don’t need anyone else to go with Borea. Just put those guys out. Impressive. Jay, you’re on the spot. That’s hard to follow. Don’t pick me, Jay. I’ll have to go I’ll go with I’ll go with Felix Pot van Between the Pipes. My my favorite growing up. Um I’m also going to go Borio Salming on the back end and he’s going to be paired up with my buddy from Rolo, Saskatchewan, Keith Ali. And up front is up front is what uh excites me. Up front we’re going Wendell Clark, Darcy Tucker, and killer Doug Gilmore. And I’m in the press box getting to watch it from uh from a bird’s eye view. Your favorite Leaf? Um Matthew Ny. Matthew Ny. I thought dad might get a vote, but he’s got he’s got nice eyes. Mom’s favorite player, too. And it’s go figure.

Boy, could the Leafs have used Borje Salming in the Matthews era. I think they'd have already won a Cup. He was that great. The absolute stud D-man they haven't had.
