Well we’ll still kick ass on the pitching front at least. Now we need some slug.
This is great of course, but I’m not sure where people thought he was gonna go. There’s only 1 manager spot open (Rockies) and he’s under contract for 2 more seasons. He understandably could be pissed about being passed up twice, but it would’ve been far more surprising to see him elsewhere next year.
Now for a solid batting coach!
This is better news than the manager announcement. Regardless of whether you loved or hated that part of your morning.
Best news we could’ve asked for
Go poach David Popkins from Toronto for hitting coach. Born in SD and went to St. Augustine. Jays offense was 1st in AVG and OBP and 7th in SLG, and got career years out of Springer and Bo. Get it done, AJ.

Oh thank goodness.
I know he didn’t get the Manager’s job but he would be a loss we cannot afford at the moment I hope he stays longer and if craig doesn’t pan out he can take the job, mean while he can start coaching fritz that way we don’t have to look elsewhere, and follow the Niebla school of pitching.
The Padres ~~managerial~~ Niebla job status search is finally over.
I think we get one more year before him leaving is a real concern. I don’t think he wants to uproot his family during his son’s senior year as a standout pitcher.
