Giants Nearly Fired Brian Daboll?! Major Shake-Up Coming in New York
is indeed Evan and Tiki on a Thursday. Tiki out today. He will be back tomorrow. It is a jam-packed show. The New York Yankees have a huge decision to make in the next three hours regarding Trent Gisham. We will get to that later. Alex Rodriguez has responded to Brian Cman. We will get to that later. And Matthew Schaefer is doing everything he can to become the new king of New York sports. You’ll hear about that later on in the program as well. Sean Morz was sitting in the big chair and he says to me right before the show, he says, “Evan, I got something big.” And I said, “Excuse me.” Okay. And he says, “Now seriously, throw the open of the show to me cuz I got something.” So I don’t know what it is. I am like the rest of the audience, but apparently Shawn Morash, who is I I give him a lot of credit. He’s got sources. He talks to a lot of people. Finally, it’s about to pay off because Shawn Morash has something big to tell us about New York sports. So, Sean, my mic is off. The floor is yours. So, a couple days ago, Evan, the great Paul Schwarz puts out a back page story, split ticket. Don’t assume Joe Shane and Brian Dable are tied together. Now, that could do a couple things. It could cause outrage or it could cause antennas to go up. My antennas were up cuz I’m frustrated obviously following this Giant team as we all are. So, I’ve done some poking around. I’ve done some digging around and I’ve now gotten this from multiple people I trust, which is why I’m gonna come here with it. The Giants were firing Brian Dable off the plane after the collapse in Denver. Really? He was fired. Fired. And ownership got together. Cooler heads prevailed and they decided not to fire Brian Dable off the plane in Denver. But in the immediiacy of that collapse, the decision to throw on third and five like Tiki had crushed after that game, enough apparently was enough from people of importance with the Giants that he was fired off the plane in Denver and cooler heads have prevailed, which has now led to stories about the split ticket. Brian Dable’s as good as gone and was basically gone two weeks ago. Wow. If not for somebody stepping up within ownership and and calming that down. Now, you don’t know the specific names because I can just summize myself. You can summize. I will tell you that the person making the decision to fire him was not Joe Shane in that moment, but you could summize from there. It’s ownership. Ownership. To to me, I’ve always said this, me and John Mar have a lot in common. We’re both fans. We’re both diehard fans. We both get angry when our team loses. So, I would summize that John Maro wanted him fired and then maybe he was, as you said, talked out of it. That shows you that he is dead man walking Brian Dable that it is very difficult to survive this season if he was already halfway fired. And you know what that reminds me of? If your reporting is true and I have no reason to believe it’s not. I’m going to choose to trust you because boy do you talk to a lot of annoying people. Would I be coming here today? Have I ever done that in the history of the show? No. No. No. No. You don’t you don’t just say stuff for attention or make stuff up. But it actually reminds me of Woody Johnson wanting to bench Aaron Rodgers after a loss to Denver and he having to be talked out of it. And then ultimately, and the reason I say that is because ultimately that showed you the handwriting that was on the wall and eventually Aaron Rogers was gone. Obviously, they didn’t bring him back and a lot of that’s connected to ownership. If you already have higherups in the Giant organization, I am summising it is ownership. I am summising it would be Mr. Mara already ready to fire the man in the middle of a season, then it’s over and there’s nothing that can change that. Uh, it is over. And as somebody here, and I’ve been vocal about being a Brian Dable supporter. I who am I to defend it anymore? I I mean, and you look back in hindsight, Denver was embarrassing. I might have tried to sweep under the rug. I know Tiki was aggravated about it, but it’s a long line of four years or I guess three really three years of embarrassments from this Giant team. And the Giants were a punchline and a laughingstock and that appeared to be at least temporarily a final stroll. So look, what does that mean? Does Brian Dable coach out the string these last few weeks? Is there going to be another moment where the team decides to find maybe? I don’t know. But if you had already made that decision, I’m with you, Evan. After the Denver game, there’s no point even conversing that what can Brian Dable do to save his job. He’s toast. He’s toast. I I don’t see how he could. Uh, and then it will just lead to further questions about, well, why the hell is Joe Shane here with him? I have some questions. Okay. Because you seem to know, did it ever get to Brian Dable? Was Brian Dable ever fired and unfired Steinbrer like? I tried to find that out. I truly do not know. It does lead me to questions about Brian Dable’s face and maybe Pat Leonard ask him if he was crying after last week’s game, but um I I truly I truly do not know and I don’t have concrete evidence it ever got to Brian Dable. Unfortunately, I’m assuming it’ll get to him now, but yes. So, you’re saying after the Denver game, and of course, for those that are forgetting, that was the epic fourth quarter collapse which featured, and there were many plays that we could go over, but certainly Tikki was crazily about that third down play in which Jackson Dart dropped back to pass. He ended up throwing an interception, but a lot of it wasn’t even about the interception. It was about the play call and the fact that they were throwing the ball and the fact that it was a coaching malpractice of a decision. That game in particular caused someone in ownership or in the front office to say, “I’m done with Brian Dable. I’m firing him.” And needed to be talked out of it. Yes, that’s exactly what happened. And here we are. Here we are. And the losses continue to mount since. And it is worth noting cuz did bring this up which also made me think of it. How ridiculous it is that this team is going to be featured in the NFC East Hard Knocks with the cameras in the building. Yeah. Yeah. How did the Giants become a walking punchline to the NFL on that show? Are they going to drag this out once those cameras come in? And we got to poo the caller when he said the other day. It’s making me wonder. I mean, we got two weeks until that really starts filming. Is Brian Dable going to survive these two weeks? I don’t know. Well, look, I I remember arguing with you guys about this last year. The idea of firing a coach in the middle of the season does nothing. It really serves very little purpose. And we saw the impact it had on the Jets a year ago. It made things worse. The one area where I’d pause where it may be different with the New York Giants is to give Mike Kafka a look. And also, if you’ve firmly decided, this guy’s gone. I’m not bringing him back. There’s nothing that can happen over the final weeks of the season that’s going to change my mind. Then why keep him around? Like only bad things can happen. Whether it’s running with Jackson Dart late in games down by 30 points where there could be a brutal injury or decisions that are made are not in the betterment of the team. So, what I would say to the Giants, and I’ve gotten to this place already, but I don’t run the New York Giants. I’m just the guy on the radio. If I’ve gotten to the place running the New York Football Giants where I know Brian Dable is not my guy and he’s not my head coach and I’m not bringing him back for 2026, then this would be one of those rare circumstances where it would make sense to fire him now, remove any possibility of him doing any kind of damage to this team over the final how many weeks of the season and then simultaneously give Mike Kovka a relatively fair opportunity to coach this team and see what it looks like. This is the first time where I can move into that area and say it could make sense given the circumstances. I could hear the argument for it making sense. But if I play devil’s advocate on a second, I would ask this. What is the reason that you get talked out of firing a guy after Denver? It probably has to do with Jackson Dart. The fact that you know what, under any circumstance, we don’t want to throw more problems in this kid’s way. And clearly at a bare minimum, Dable’s doing a good job with Jackson Dart, right? So if you’re going to do that, then have CFKA coach him. You’re also then asking a locker room that right now is just watching another season spiral out of control. Do you think they’re really going to be woken up by firing the head coach in there? Is that really giving Kfka a fair look if he starts coaching what becomes an even better locker room? I don’t know if you look back and Jason Garrett’s always the one that jumps out at me where we did see an interimm head coach survive and become the full-time head coach. Mhm. Sometimes there can be a level of success. If you go back to Dallas when Jerry Jones decided to fire Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett got the opportunity to coach the team the rest of the season, obviously he did a good enough job to keep the job. Antonio Pierce did a good enough job to keep the job. Like there are examples where guys get that interimm tag and the team doesn’t just collectively quit. My point to you is if they’ve already decided that Brian Dable isn’t the answer and based on what you’re telling me, somebody pretty far power powerful in giant ownership did because they ready to fire him two weeks ago, then keeping him around for the final seven, eight weeks of the year could probably do more harm than good. And again, I am not a proponent usually of firing a coach in the middle of the season because I don’t think it serves a purpose. But in this case, it might it may actually serve a purpose. And certainly the team has not responded in the two weeks that have followed that game regardless. Anyway, so I mean the idea that he hasn’t been in the couple weeks that have followed probably tells me that they want to try to make it through the full season, right? Otherwise, you made that decision. Nothing has changed in the two weeks since and yet he’s still the head coach. But I don’t know. I don’t know if giving Mike Kfka a look if that if that’s a fair representation of because what if it goes bad then you’re going to ultimately assume that he can’t be a head coach either? Not necessarily. It wouldn’t help. I mean, I’m not going to lie to you. I mean, it’s not spot. I’m probably not going to be in a rush to hire him. crushed Spagnola as a head coach as well for a second opportunity. Remember when he got to be an interim on a team that was basically dead in the water, he did nothing to help that team and then whoever viewed him as a true head coaching. But the one difference is if Mike Kafka takes over for a fired Brian Dable is he’s got this young stud of a quarterback that he gets to play with. And so I would say he has a better chance of succeeding than most other coaches. But are you hurting are you hurting the quarterback’s development if you fire the offensive-minded head coaches trying to mold him and his play caller has to now put more on his plate? Are you hurting the quarterback’s development to keep a head coach that you’ve already decided you’re firing? You’ve already decided clearly if it’s true. And you know what? The pro proof’s going to be in the pudding, bro. I believe you. But if this man comes back for 2026, then I’ll probably sit back and say, “Yeah, was he really almost fired in Denver?” But if he loses his job, it Yeah, they delayed it. They didn’t want to do it in the middle of the season, it’s a bad look. The Giants have done it once before, the whole uh Ben Mcadoo situation. Um they don’t want to do it again. Yeah, but if you’ve already decided he’s not the guy, then just make him not the guy. Then make And here’s the other problem, and this is like the bigger issue, and I put this poll out a couple of days ago because I was genuinely curious how Giant fans feel about this, and that is who do you blame more for the current state of this team? Who’s done a worse job at their job? Brian Dable, who was almost fired two weeks ago, or Joe Shane? And when I put that poll out, it was like an even split. 51% said Brian Dable, 49% said Joe Shane. And you know what that tells me? You know what that tells me? What does it tell you? Scientifically and unscientifically, they have both failed. They have. They have both done a miserable job. And they have equal blame and equal sharing of blame for the state of the New York Football Giants. So, whoever decided Brian Debo needed to be fired two weeks ago, I would ask them very calmly and respectfully a follow-up question. What about Shane? I completely agree because he’s done a crappy job too. There it was absurd in the previous regime that Dave Gtlman got to hire a second head coach and it’ll be just as absurd that Joe Shane gets to and any good you want to point to with Joe Shane whether that is Malik Neighbors. Yes, he did trade up for Jackson Dart but as we’ve seen on camera that was Brian Dable loved Jackson Dart. We know that Joe Shane tried to trade for Matt Stafford. We know he tried to trade up for Cam Ward. How many victory laps can you really take about bringing the quarterback in here? Uh I I don’t know how you objectively look at the Giant problems. Here’s a better way to ask this. If I were to say to you, you got a clean slate three years from now. It’s Joe Shane with a different head coach or it’s another GM hired Brian Dable somewhere else to be a head coach. Who do you think is a better chance of success? Are you on my honest answer? Neither. Okay. I But I do think most people would tend to, if I had to pick one, there’s a better coach in Dable than there is a general manager in Shane. Well, I think both of them, if we’re being objectively fair about this, and I’m trying to as an IFO, there are things on their resume that are good. There are things on their resume that are impressive. Brian Dable was coach of the year and took that team to the postseason and showed a lot of guts and set the tone early in the season and in my opinion overachieved with what he had. Bravo. Yeah, that’s a check mark on his resume. Joe Shane has hit some home runs in the draft. He’s hit some home runs in trades. Obviously, acquiring Brian Burns looks pretty brilliant. Great trade. With that said, here’s what both of them are judged by, and this is something that no one can fight. Their record. Yeah. And it’s abysmal. And it’s abysmal. And it reminds me of Joe Douglas. I would sit here, even with you, Sean, and say, “Well, Joe Douglas, he drafted this guy, drafted that guy, he drafted this guy.” And the ultimate retort to any defense of Joe Douglas’s individual drafts would be his record. And right now, when I look at the record of Joe Shane and the record of Brian Dable, neither guy deserves to keep their job. So when I hear and I believe you, hey, they were about to fire Brian Dable two weeks ago, or I hear Paul Schwarz say, hey, could be a split ticket, right? My answer is, and I’m pretty confident I represent most Giant fans when I say this, is neither one of them deserves to remain here. Both of them share in responsibility for the state of the New York Giants, just like they share in responsibility for the good. We love Jackson Dart. Who do we give credit to? I’ll give credit to both guys. Right. You still have to execute the trade party job. I get that. And and so for that, good job, Joe Shane. For Brian Dable standing on the table saying, “Get me Jackson Dart.” I give him credit. But ultimately, their record is abysmal. So when I hear you say Brian Dable was almost fired two weeks ago before he got off the plane or before he got on the plane, my simple retort is what about Joe Shane? I’m with you because they’re both doing a terrible job. And I think that that poll I put out two days ago represents that it’s such a tough battle. It’s like a giant civil war. Who do you blame more? Who sucks more? Who’s worse at their job? It’s 50/50 because everybody wants an option C that says all of them. The there are not enough good football players on the New York Football Giants. There’s not enough good depth when you have injuries like we’ve seen at the quarterback position where the whole team becomes a house of cards. It’s Joe Shane’s job to put those players on the roster. Brian Dable can coach them and he hasn’t done a good enough job of doing that. I don’t know what anybody thinks is going to change by Joe Shane remaining here and Brian Dable being fired, which is absolutely inevitable since he was nearly fired after Denver. So, Giant fans, do you want the New York Giants to do what they almost did two weeks ago according to Shawn Morash, which is pull the trigger and fire Brian Dable? And who do you blame more for this current mess? We’ll get to your calls coming up. 88881019. And a part of the Giants mess involves the kicker because guess what, ladies and gentlemen, Graham Gun knows on the injury report again. More on that coming up. Plus, plenty of baseball later today with free agency beginning at 5:00.
With Tiki out, Evan Roberts and Shaun Morash drop a bombshell — Brian Daboll was reportedly minutes away from being fired after the Giants’ collapse in Denver. Cooler heads prevailed, but what does this mean for his future… and Joe Schoen’s? Are both on the hot seat? The guys debate whether the Giants should pull the trigger now or ride out the chaos.

2022- Brian Daboll hired to develop Top QB
2025- Brian Daboll develops Top QB
2025- Brain Daboll Fired
Not if it’s going to ruin dart
Bout time
“Almost fired”?? That’s like being kinda pregnant.
the giants wont win again untill they find the next bill parcells or tom coughlin
Nearly fired isn't enough! The whole coaching staff should be terminated starting with Dabol and Bowen RIGHT beside him! This is the worst coaching staff I've ever seen! The offense is putting up "at least" 24 points which is enough to win you games but defensively they'll give up 34! Head scratcher when you read off the names on that defense! Especially, our front 6, so it tells me that they don't want to play for Bowen! Bowen IS a horrible defensive coordinator! Doesn't excuse the player's performance and attitude but at least you know where the problem is to fix it! Bowen MUST go right beside Daboll!
look if a team cant stop the other team from scoring points than your team better score a whole lotta more points
I’d rather them get rid of schoen first but yeah if u get rid of Daboll schoen has to go too
Nuke Metlife with everyone in it.
Fire Schoen, daboll, kafka and Bowen !! Asap so we can move on from that clown show of a bunch of guys that are bad at their jobs.
Mara needs to step down from all football decisions like his dad Wellington did in 1979. Otherwise we have yet another failed GM and HC coming in.
You really can't really determine the talent of the current roster because of the terrible job the coaching staff has done bringing out potential in players.
Should’ve. Any one who has that talent on D and keep the D coordinator after giving up 30 every game……cmon. Fire Daboll
Fire everyone, get Gruden HC and Pierce for DC. Joe Schoen is actually braindead for letting Saquon walk and paying Slayton like a receiver who knows how to catch.
Daboll and Bowen need the boot for sure. I’d say a simple solution for the time-being is to make Kafka the interim head coach.
Sean is a diehard fan I enjoy his content never heard about him until this year
I have a question. Who is calling the plays for the Giants? Is it not Mike Kafka?
Daboll was the one who wanted Jaxson. Gm Should be fired before Daboll
Joe Shoen will absolutely be a better GM with a different coach than Brian Daboll will be with a different GM. Shoen's drafting has not been the problem. It's Daboll's inability to foster the talent and extract the best out of the players. He's a good offensive mind, but he doesn't know shit about the rest of the team
NEARLY DOESN'T COUNT
Guys don't do Ny Jets shit. If you guys keep switching offensive coordination head coaches. It's going to look like Kyler Murray. I feel like this very Jet like convo here guys.
The entire coaching staff needs to go….it's like Malik said it's not the quarterback….😊
I hate this team 😡
5:18 Someone put a big 4th quarter bet in.
Fire Schoen and Dabol. Get rid of both of those losers.
They both will be let go! Shoen was not allowed to fire Daboll nor ask for trade moves
They should definitely fire Joe! You draft zero kickers man that’s crazy
That’s huge news! Almost, would have, should have, could have, I can’t believe you got to report on a story that didn’t actually happen a few weeks after it didn’t happen, lol
I hate them both! I want them all fired and I blame ownership for this bs.
Every NY reporter need to ask Daboll to leave the conference area since he’s lame duck anyways!! My fellow Giants fans: make Brian Ozemball’s remaining weeks in NY “close the garage, leave the car running”-esque, please!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻😘
No offense to Daboll as a person, but he sucks as a head coach. No additional data points needed.
I think of kaf takes over idk might be good for the locker room. It’s Brian not Kaf. The team doesn’t want daboll anymore cause of the play calling. He is making it harder on the defense than the team vibe. They are done with him. The team was done with home last year
Kaf and Mike can do well I think
I don't want to hear about keeping Joe over Daboll. They both have enough to blame fire both absolutely all day!!
There is no way that Daboll survives. As a HC your Win/Loss record is what you are judged on, and his record is abysmal.
It is just a matter of when.
This team needs to hire Brian Flores to replace Daboll, and Flores is the guy that they should have hired in the first place.
Schoen and Daboll, have FAILED!! With the exception of Getting Jaxson Dart. Other than that, FAILED!!
Both must go
I'm so tired of hearing about this coach what is it what is what is development it's such nonsense you are a great quarterback or you're not that's it
Evan I talked to tiki right after the Denver game we both agreed that that this was a fireball offense it was ridiculous it was the stupidest decision I've ever seen I mean doesn't he ever f**** think about Pete Carroll in the super bowl how stupid you don't put the ball in the air unless you have to ask and I decided and then I have friends of mine and then I have to hear mcmonagle tell me that we're playing to win the game no not with the f**** 10-point lead you run the it was the worst game I've seen in terms of losing and the stupidest game that just giving away since Herman Edwards in 1978
Fire both
If it's all on Brian Dabol then FIRE 🔥 THE HOLE COACHING STAFF especially with the Defensive Coridinator and the coaches that were at the combine making suggestions on players that were a bust meaning some players were. Let's look at the whole picture not just one guy is to blame there is no I IN TEAM. THE DEFENSE GIVES UP TO MANY POINTS. Look we finally have a QB let's not screw the kid up let's put the pieces that we need of importance up front do your research and get the payers we need.
Its a 52 man roster so u want to put the blame on EVERYONE NOT JUST ONE GUY
Just my opinion
I want them to fire Schoen and release daboll at the end of the season. Start the GM search now and let them start looking for their HC
First time I heard the name Jaxson Dart was from Eli Manning. He said take a look at this kid. I give him the credit for telling mgmt and ownership. Fire both these clowns.
The 1st two draft seasons under Schoen and Daboll have proven to be by and large failures, with the past two season a little better. However, where is the high end talent on this team. It appears the Giants may have found their QB, let's keep our fingers crossed there. Nabers is a decent but not great receiver yet, lacking elite speed. However, Banks, Evan Neal, Tibo have all been massive disappointments. When you spend a top draft pick on a talent you expect and the Giants desperately NEEDed those picks to turn into a perennial stars, a Probowl caliber player, hopefully a future HOF player, and that has not happened with any of these pics to date. Tibo is serviceable at best, consistently gets burned around his outside corner by running backs and QB's for massive gains, when he takes his inside route or gets trapped inside by bigger, more powerful offensive linemen, at least a half dozen times per game. Neal and Banks do not belong in the NFL. Their corners can not cover well, and none of the corners or safeties want to tackle anyone. With the devastating injury to Skat, it is difficult to determine how productive he will be if he can return to play. His lateral movement will certainly be affected in the negative, with a predisposition to re-injury of the torn ankle Deltoid ligaments and joint proprioception will also be diminished following that injury. The Defensive Coordinator Bowen's scheme simply do not fit the talent on the team. When you don't have heat coverage guys, and your corners are on the slavish side, you need consistent pressure on the opposing QB, to make him get ride of the ball within 3 seconds. However, under Bowen, who does not like to blitz, the QB often has 5-6 seconds to find the open receiver, and not to worry there, because Giant corners, linebackers, and safeties aren't going to cover molasses for more than 2 – 3 seconds, and they play a very soft coverage, 10-12 yards off of receivers, so they are incapable of defending an short out routes or short slants over the middle.
John Mara and Steve Tisch are the problem. They need to clean house, stay out of the way and hire consultants to construct the front office and staff respectively.
daboll and bowen would not have survived post denver game if i were in charge. some things are just unconscionable
It's not a bad look. If they've hit was during daboll they should of followed thru.
We are 2-7 three years in a row
Bowen is terrible they should of atleast fired him . Anybody else can do better with this roster . I could do better.
A high school coach could
do better.
