Bam Adebayo Has Sprained Left Big Toe | Miami Heat Needs Nikola Jović and Kel’el Ware To Step Up!
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you’re all doing well on this evening. I don’t know why I was in the mood for late night coffee. I don’t know why, but I just had the anchor in for some. So, a little cafe bustello. No ad, just love it. Um, and yeah, man. Today was a day where we got a lot of heat stuff happened. Uh awful, you know, awful, awful news with Eric Spolster this morning with his his house being set ablaze or, you know, whatever the hell happened there. But when Eric Spolstra was flying here uh back from Denver, apparently his home in Coral Gables just engulfed in flames. Super scary. Uh you know, it’s and it’s unfortunately it’s hard to look away from disaster like that sometimes and you just see the video of him. um taking this all in and his home is gone and uh you know I’m I’m it’s been said obviously great that nobody’s hurt but still a super traumatic thing and so you know prayers to to Spo and all of his loved ones and everybody in the Heat who’s worried about him. The Heat put out a statement uh within the hour uh they said we’re grateful to learn that nobody was harmed in the fire at Coach Spolster’s residence this morning. Our thoughts, prayers, and assistance are with Spo and his family during this time. That was the Heat’s official statement. So, he is coaching tomorrow. Um, and we’ll uh we’ll see what’s what, but man, all the best to to Spone everything that’s going on there with that situation. Super scary. Super super scary. The other news that we were waiting on today uh was the health of Bam Adabio. And we did get word that Bam Adabio is going to miss tomorrow’s game uh against the Charlotte Hornets. He’d have a home backtoback coming up against Charlotte who they uh who is in their division. Obviously, I believe that’s an NBA Cup game. And then uh Portland who’s playing I mean really really great basketball. So um you know a hell of a challenge up here ahead for the Miami Heat. Then they got a couple against the Cavs and they got a couple against the Knicks. And then I believe our old friend Jimmy Butler is rolling into town. So lot of home games, but still, as we knew coming into this year, a very challenging schedule. The Heat, you know, a one and three road trip. Nothing to be ashamed of, especially with Bam being banged up, with Norm Powell missing time on this trip. Um, you know, none of uh you all of that is still something that is uh you knew it was going to be challenging. You knew it was going to be a challenging trip, but I I really do want to see how the Heat if they can bounce back at home. But the big question here now is with Bam, who suffered a big toe sprain. They’re saying it’s daytoday, whatever the hell that means. I will say relief when you heard it because you’re thinking, “Oh, is there going to be a foot fracture? Is there going to be something bad? Toes are always tricky, but all things considered, I it seems like the Miami Heat dodged a bit of a bullet here when it comes to the BAM on a bio news. So, that’s really good because I honestly don’t know if Bam was to miss significant time and I thought about this and it’s impossible for your mind not to go here. I try and untangle myself. Um, it’s impossible not to go here is like if they didn’t if this was worse like what do the Heat do? Like I really think that’s probably like one of the things that would have sent Miami into Tankville if that would have been the case. Like I just don’t know how do you overcome something like that and that injury that Miamiy’s got to over overcome some way somehow. Vlad Golden has made his way back from Sou Falls to give the Heat a little bit of beef if you know their young bigs get into foul trouble. Um but I think out of anything, however long this is going to be, one game, two games, five games, whatever, um the opportunity here is now for Nicolola Yovic and for Kel Wear. This is their time. This is the opportunity they’re going they have been given right now at the start of this season. this is going to be their opportunity to try and keep this thing afloat until BAM comes back. And I and again, I don’t know. I don’t want to speculate that it’s going to be in a in a couple days. I don’t want to speculate that it may be a long time because I don’t know. But when they say dayto-day, very vague. And you got to be careful with lower body injuries and especially for Bam hasn’t really had a lot of that. I think maybe some like knee swelling, I recall recall, but his only long-term injury was the the thumb um that he had to get surgery on in the year that they were the one seed. And even then, I mean, he comes back and he wres havoc. Probably should have been defensive player of the year that year. Um, and I got to tell you, I was listening to Nicola Joic’s press conference from last night before I got on here today because I was curious if he was going to say anything about Yoic. You know, I made this comment yesterday about, you know, I hope after this game, after he’s done with this ass kicking that he gives to Miami, that I hope he pulls Nico aside and I hope that Joker has a conversation with him like, “Hey, bro, what the f’s going on with you?” Like, he just he just looks so in his head. And look, it’s Yoic, dude. You know, I love Yovic. I want Yovic to to flourish and it’s been a little bit of a rocky start. Um, and then funny enough, there was a there was a an account from a Denver Nuggets fan, Tatiana Lenares, and she posted a video of Joker coming over, giving Nico a big hug, a little bit of love. Other guys were trying to Tyler and Norman were coming. Get out of here. I’m trying to talk to my my little Brate here. And you know, there was a lot of joking, a lot of love it seemed like between these in this conversation. But I do hope that he, you know, is like, “Hey, you gota you got to get get things right.” Now, it was interesting. He was asked about this. I tried busting out the Google Translate because he was asked about this in Serbian. And uh here’s a secret about old Tobes. I don’t speak Serbian. And the Google Translate, this is what they gave. I think they they were joking about the uh I I think they were joking about the extension and he says I don’t think it’s up to him. I think it was up to Miami. Uh I don’t know how those things work. That’s above us and what they’re doing. But for this guy, I think he has a great future because he can play multiple positions. He could be good defensively, which we saw when we played in I’m guessing for the national team. And then offensively, you can use him in different ways. Shoot, dribble. I think he has a good future in the NBA. That’s what I got from the translation from Serbia. But then somebody did ask him in English, which I was fired up about. Shout out to that Denver Nuggets reporter, whoever asked that. And he was asked about Nico. And he had a lot of poignant things to say. He he really did. He had um you know he said asked if he gives any advice to Yovic. He says I don’t like to do that when he’s on another team especially I don’t know what the coaching staff is telling him because I think he needs to listen to the coaching staff and because that’s going to give you minutes trust opportunity to go out there and then you can kind of go and make your own way. But he’s young in this, you know, he’s making the point that he’s young in this league. he’s got to do what the coaches ask him to do. Um, but he says that he thinks he has potential. He thinks he’s a good defender. That was an interesting thing that he says he can defend multiple positions and then he said offensively, you know, he can shoot, he can handle, but he said he’s a really good poster player and he goes, “That’s my opinion. That’s how we used him in the national team. Um, and it was working for us because of his size.” So, uh, it was good to hear Joker give some, uh, some love to Yoic. Not that I expected anything different, but, you know, I know the fan base is, you know, how, you know, how this fan base can be. You can be down on guys. Uh, I had, you know, people all mad. You guys get mad at me on social media cuz I dare, how dare I be excited about a young Heat player, a 22-year-old Heat player. How dare I? you guys are ready to bury his career in uh in in two seconds here. Crazy. Um and then somebody was like somebody on Twitter today made no sense cuz they were like uh how come you uh you okayed this extension but not Tyler Heroes? And this is where people on social media are Peter Pans and they need to grow up because one Tyler Hero and his rookie extension got twice the amount of money that Nicola Yoich is a rookie extension. Um, not that making $15 million a year isn’t a nice living for anybody. Of course, awesome. But it’s not like this insane amount of money they spent on the guy. They basically paid him as an NBA rotational player. I understand that he has not lived up to stuff in these very many eight games that we’ve played, but okay. I don’t really understand what that has to do with the Tyler Hero extension. It’s neither here nor there. Like I think they could have not paid Nicole Yoic and they wouldn’t have paid Tyler Herro. I don’t think Nicola Yoic being paid has anything to do with Tyler Herro not getting paid. Um you know so I I don’t know what one thing has to do with the I think of that as anybody you know we talked about this a little on the radio show. If anybody has uh a domino effect on Tyler, it’s honestly it’s most likely Norman and then maybe in a long-term future Yakonis if he ends up being anything, which we really don’t know cuz uh he hasn’t played an NBA game yet. But I didn’t really understand the logic to that. But people are lashing out because I like Yovic, dude. So I don’t know what to tell you. And then the other thing that I liked with uh with with yesterday’s postgame was in regard to KL Wear because I loved what uh Norman Powell had to say about him because you know this is another one where it’s like I don’t I I think right now they’re in two different boats, right? Like with Nico this is a confidence thing. This is we need this kid to play with a belief. We need to play him with a confidence. We need the Heat to have this guy, you know, play with a swagger that when he before he got hurt last year, I thought played with in the national team. I talked about this with him in media day about like bringing that international Nico and swagger to this team and that guy was not on the floor last night against the Denver Nuggets. Um, but Kell is is a different beast. It’s almost like his tattoo, the humble beast. Like that’s kind of what it is. It’s like somebody was asking me about this today at the station. They’re like, “What’s his deal?” Like what, you know, people who are not like into the heat every day like I am. They’re talking dolphins or all that and they’re like, “Hey man, what’s what is Kel Wear’s deal? Like is is is he is he a mope?” Like what is this? And I’m like, I don’t really know how to pinpoint Kel Wear, you know? Like everybody wants to make the white side comparison. I don’t think that’s it. Honestly, you know, look, Hassan Whiteside did not have a good ending with the Miami Heat, but Hassan Whiteside legitimately could roll out of bed and get you 15 rebounds. He was a blocking monster. Um, no one’s doing it with blocks, but he also was an older prospect when he came to the Miami Heat. You know, he had gotten injured with the Kings. They had chosen Boogie Cousins. He had ended up having to play international ball. like he had a little bit of FU to the league when he comes to the Miami Heat. You know, it wasn’t like, oh, this smooth, you know, red carpet right to prosperity for Hassan Whitide. He did get it. He he he felt a little bit about where the league had put him and then having to earn his way all the way back. High opinion of himself. Um, but I would say, you know, and and and then I think Aan, you know, really considered himself a little bit like Tyler, like with the whites, with the uh Rudy Go Bears, with the Joel Embiids, would get into Twitter abuse with these guys. And, you know, I think he saw especially like Joel, a guy that was like able to flourish and freelance a little bit and do whatever he wanted to do in Philadelphia because there were no consequences and he wasn’t allowed to do that in in Miami. I don’t think Khal Wear and Hassan Whiteside are very similar. Though we have seen in the past some sevenfooters, it’s a different type of chemistry you got to get out of these guys when it comes to their mindsets. You think Andrew Bayham, what a talent, but like it, you know, just why he didn’t go balls to the wall all the time. I don’t know. DeAndre Aton, look at DeAndre Aton. max deal to playing for pennies on the Lakers and like you see that potential. You’re like, why can’t you tap into that all the time? I don’t know. And I don’t really have it cuz I don’t think I don’t think KL Wear is a a I don’t think that he’s an I think he’s very young. And I just kind of think he kind of he he rides at this like even keel that just doesn’t, you know, it doesn’t go high, doesn’t really go low, but you kind of need to bring it and you see the physical tools. And I think there’s a lot of people that see this in him and see him as a good-hearted guy. And that’s why Norman Pal last night said, I told him when I first got here, I’m going to be on him all year. I’m trying to unlock greatness in him. Everybody has great belief in him. and I’m going to stay on him. I’m going to continue to push him to reach his level of greatness. And I think a lot of guys feel this way. I think Alonzo Mourning, speaking to him about him, he feels this way. I think Eric Spolstra feels this way. But Eric Spolstra has the ramifications of wins or losses for his team. And so someone’s got to be the bad cop in this in this movie for for wear. But this is his chance because there’s gonna be this need for him if Bam is hurt that you hope that he can unlock a little bit. I do want him to, you know, we got to find a way to set him up in places that uh you know, the coaching staff has to set him up in a way that that is closer to the rim and take advantage of that just pterodactyl size that he has flying around. very clearly is comfortable shooting the three and has done a better job of it this year. Smooth, dude. He’s got some smooth polish to his game, right? Um, but this is going to I don’t think this conundrum’s going anywhere. I think this is going to be there and and we’re going to have to we’re going to all have to ride this out together with him. And and look, there’s a little bit of pressure on them. There’s already people who are like, we didn’t trade for Kevin Durant for this guy, Mr. Up and Down Motor. And and so they got to unlock something there. And it’s not even that I don’t think that he works hard either. Like I from the word is that uh you know Lonzo was telling me this guy was in the gym all the time, put on a lot of weight, was there I don’t think this is a work ethic thing. I don’t think it is. I think this is just a I think it’s a motor thing. I remember, you know, asking about the summer. Yeah, I guess I was slacking a little bit. Maybe he just can’t even help himself. try and like look there there are people you you see all the potential in the world of them smart you just try and think like why can’t you you know why can’t you have that drive all the time that you need and you just I don’t know I don’t know if there’s a great you never get a real great answer for it but I am hopeful that he can recognize the moment right here that his teammates are counting on him and that it can bring him into the fold for a a big run here is especially while Bam is out. I think this is a big moment for Nico and for wear to to make their mark on the season and you know really keep the heat as afloat as possible with as thin a depth as they already have in the front court and you know let’s let’s see if they’re up to the task Here.

Jovic is very akward with his ball control.
Bam's Tobin hurtin
Thats not nearly as bad as i thought it was gonna be
So 2 of our stars are out🤦🏿😞
Ware is lazy he only they need to trade him his effort on defense is bad
Brickola Jovic looks like he's been playing with sprained brain 🧠 .
Can't even see the rim.
Prays for Bam and Spo. I hope there's no foul play. Spo can't catch a break the divorce, locker room drama, and now this. I hope this is a galvanizing moment for the team regardless of if it translates to wins and losses. Hopefully the organization as a whole will only get stronger.
Love u Tobe
Google translate is trash!!! Come on Tobin you should be using ai for more accurate translation.
Yeah right dude. They're f**** millennials dude. They're just happy to be there and catch that little ass paycheck
Ware has played very limited minutes until Bam got hurt. In the last 3 games he has taken 17 shots and made 13, of which he made 5 of 7 threes. He went 13 and 13 last night with a career high 4 steals. Time to make Ware a much bigger part of the offense.
Nico has been disappointing
Niko looks like he's genuinely forgotten how to play basketball. Because he was not this player last year. At all. There was a stretch from December to when he broke his hand where he was phenomenal coming off the bench. Which makes me think this is all mental. And the conclusion I keep coming to is, he got that extension and he's put SOOO much pressure on himself to perform because the Heat have paid him that he's psyching himself out because he wants to do well.
He looked pretty good when he got back from the hand injury against the Cavs, he looked really good in Eurobasket and now all of a sudden he's ass? Its mental. It's the only thing that makes sense. And idk if there's a veteran mentor on the team like Jimmy was that can reach him and get him to relax and just play his game.
Hassan Whiteside “He’s just trying to get NBA2K rating up “
Better call a Toe Truck.😂
Jovic tries too hard & Ware forgets what to do. Neither are attitude or effort things. They are just young guy things. No idea how people get that confused
Yeah Heat fans can be impatient.
Sounded to me like Jokic didn't want to publicly criticize Spo's usage of Jovic. But his comments at the end sure sounded like he was implying it. Him mentioning Jovic handling the ball, posting up, etc. It makes you wonder if Jovic wouldn't be better off on another team. He may never find the right role playing under Spo.
Jovic is being paid to be a role player. That's what Spo and the front office is treating him as. Don't understand why you think he has to carry all this weight when it's not his responsibility. Ware is another one that there's some slight chance he can be a starter in this league but he's more of a space cadet if anything. It's okay that they're not special players but solid rotation players. That's the most you can ask for, from where they were picked in the draft.
If his first college coach had never mentioned the motor thing no one would be talking about it. People would be more willing to wait for him to develop, but since it was mentioned, everyone keeps talking about it, not realizing that it could be worse. He’s not a bad player. As fans we’re just so impatient we never give our young guys a chance to develop at all. And I’m talking about Miami Heat fan specifically.
Heat need to give vladislav goldin a shot
Or trade herro an jovic 4 markenen
We need another big even if bam wasn't hurt
Bring in Dwight Howard
Screw the haters Tobin, it's Jooooovvvvviiiccc dude!
He still has 9 more toes! Get his a.. back out there
Vlad Goldin was a better pickup than Tua.
Time to bring up Vlad/Dainja
The heat need to scout the g.League for a center, work their magic the way they did in the past.
If Jovic decides to play with his strength and that is to drive to the basket instead of shooting 3's – he should be ok. He should also develop a post up game.
When Bam came out…..our % in winning became so bleak. We should get Lauri Markkanen ASAP!
kel'el needs one more season to improve. We cannot depend on him this season. His game against the Spurs is a sign on how he is going to play this season. He looks lost.
Kel'el frame of mind and focus on the game is very weak. Bam should even remind him that he is a 7 footer player.
Bro,you are dreaming about the quality of Jovic, and also ware.every once in a while they will have a good games.but not consistently!
With this training staff, a day-to-day diagnosis could mean a season-ending injury
