I’ll be honest, I’ve been that guy before. Usually when I’m so lost in thought on something completely unrelated, and my brain completely derails when someone says ‘Go Birds’ because I’m wearing one of my Eagles shirts and I forgot that fact hours earlier.
I was in Minneapolis for the game this year. As we left the stadium a jeep full of eagles fans drove down the street with the windows down screaming “go birds”. They then accidentally drove into a wall. The Vikings fans around me were pretty impressed to say the least.
I can’t help but feel like it messes with the juju when a go birds is left hanging
This happens to me a lot living outside of Philly. Unless people have traveled to Philly or have been made aware of the greeting, they don’t respond. I always say Go Birds when I see someone wearing Eagles gear and I think the response rate is like 10-15 %…. But I got a go Birds recently when I was wearing my “no one likes us, we don’t care” toque the other week 💚
That’s NOT a fan.
And also with you, go birds, or fuck Dallas.
Go birds can be a greeting and a goodbye. Like aloha
Sometime during the off season I just forget and think theyre just talking about pigeons, and i am lukewarm about pigeons on a good day
A LOT of new fans out there. Some of you werent around for the Chip Kelly era and it shows.
People yell go birds at me and and im like caught off guard and forget im wearing an eagles hat, so I usually then reply with a go eagles/go birds and few seconds later. And I get it literally everywhere, I live in Washington but when on vacation in Japan I had at least 5 people yell go birds at me lmao
go birds!
I’ve done this a bunch of times in Texas where they don’t respond or just nod and it kind of upsets me ngl
Shout-out to the random guy wearing an Eagles hoodie an East TN food city that I screamed “Go Birds” at the top of my lungs at, who sheepishly said it back. I respect TF out of you. I’m crazy.
They are having a bad fucking day alright if that’s the case
I don’t remember the last time I’ve said “Go Eagles.” Even my 6- and 3-year-old say “Go Birds.”
Did this to a guy and his girl walking down the street here in Northern VA. They just smiled and kept walking. I threw a “D” battery at them. Frauds.
Let’s be clear: if they respond “Go Eagles,” that should be acceptable as well. Sometimes the brain ain’t brainin’ so you don’t instinctively react properly.
Not me, of course, but I’ve seen it happen.
I feel awkward when this happens..
Is this an AI upscaled version? Gross.
I get this all the time in Florida. I once dated a girl who asked to borrow my eagles jacket from my truck so I told her only if she agrees to yell go birds back anytime someone yells it at her. She looked at me dumbfounded like “yeah I’m sure that’s gonna happen weirdo?” She got 5 go birds in 5 minutes, and found it so exhilarating that she started asking to wear my eagles gear when we went to the store on game days for no reason other than wanting to yell go birds at people…… I should call her shouldn’t I?
Had an Apple Store employee drop a “Go Birds!” at me recently since I was wearing my LIX shirt, but I was so focused on getting my item returned I just stumbled out a “Haha, yeah!” as I walked away.
One of my greatest fumbles
Go Birds
Is this AI slop?
Go Birds
I went as Kelly Green Kelce for Holloween and not a single go birds went unreplyed to.
I had kids no taller than their candy bags giving me go birds shout backs and high-fives.
There is no place in society for a go birds to be left hanging.
Then you didn’t say go birds to a birds fan, just someone wearing eagles gear
I bring an Eagles hat on every trip I go on. I’ve gotten at least one “Go Birds” every time, and that’s at least a dozen different states outside of NJ/PA and multiple countries as far away as Japan over the past 10 or so years.
And yet it still catches me off guard like 95% of the time because I forgot I was wearing it and my brain malfunctions, and I just end up saying “yeah!” or something else random.
I live outside of DC so I get pumped when I see a fellow birds fan, and when they don’t say it back, it infuriates me
Bad mojo. You gotta get me some Wawa to heal the vibes.
I just assume they didn’t hear me lol
That just happened to me recently, dude just looked at me like i was nuts. Threw my whole day off. 🤨
One of the managers at my work is a season ticket holder so bonafide die-hard and a great dude. I say it to him a lot and each time you can see he holds back his enthusiasm and goes “uh, yeah, go um go birds…” like very under his breath to try and remain professional. Makes me laugh each time!
I have never gotten silence in return when I “Go Birds!” someone.
Yeah it just rolls off… “Goburrds!”
I’ve yet to get the cold shoulder, and I’m living in Austin, Texas. I guess it’s more amplified here.
I had a social anxiety moment a few years ago that I think about often.
I was out in LA on Hollywood Blvd and a homeless guy saw my birds hat and started screaming E A G L E S from a few feet away and I simply responded go birds to acknowledge him but also get away from him. He was so disappointed. Let out an audible “what the fuck”. In retrospect I agree with him.
The worst is a “Oh yea” “Whoa” back. Seems fraudulent
Big problem here in the UK. So many more folk wearing Eagles gear thanks to Primark/Taylor Swift, so few “GO BIRDS!” yelled in return 😢
I didn’t get a “harumph” outta that guy. You watch your ass!
Gobirdsfuckdallas!
To quote Office Space “I believe you’d get your ass kicked for that”.
I was like 4 edibles deep on a transfer flight between ATL and Huntsville Bama 2 weeks ago. I had one my birds hoodie and the guy checking boarding passes said “Oh hell yeah! GO BIRDS!”
I was so high I didnt know how to respond back and said “uhh, yeah…same to you!….I mean, a happy Go Birds to you as well”
The look on that guy’s face was like, *are you serious right now?!?!*
Last January I was at the south Florida state fair in an eagles shirt. Saw at least dozen people throughout the day in some form of eagles gear. 98% of them ignored my Go Birds. Like they were afraid to interact with me or didn’t have any idea what I was talking about.
I was in Iowa visiting my sister last year. I wasn’t wearing any gear but saw a guy with a newer eagles hat. Gave him the “go birds” but the dude just looked at me. No clue what I was talking about
I’m Canadian and I’ve been an Eagles fan ever since I saw McNabb scramble in the pocket when I was channel surfing one Sunday as a 14 year old. I didn’t even watch football before that, but when I saw him I was hooked. And I’m very loyal with my other sports teams, so of course I quickly became a life long Eagles fan.
That said, I didn’t know about Go Birds until some time after 2015. I think I first heard it from a fellow Eagles fan at a Bills game. I’ve been to the Linc a few times now and I get it. But honestly, for some reason it’s not really something I ever say unless it’s said to me first.
I live in northern vermont. If we see anyone in eagles/wawa/philly anything on we always stop and chat lol. Go birds
