MLBTR released their Top 50 FA list today, with contact/team predictions.

Unsurprisingly, the Pirates are not anywhere in the vicinity of the top third of the list….they did sneak in with a surprise mention, by one of the predictors, at #19, Kazuma Okamoto.

After that, they are, once again, mentioned by a single predictor (Tim Dierkes), as a suitor for Jorge Polanco, the 23rd ranked FA.

No other mentions/predictions for any other of the top 50.

  1. Can’t say I’m surprised. Why would anyone good willingly come here given our track record?the only FAs we will get will be aging veterans or struggling “bust” players that we will have to overpay to make them come here. Leftovers is all we have a hope to get.

I like the idea of adding Polanco. He would be immediately one of the best hitters haha. But I’m sure he would get better offers than the Bucs..

Kazuma Okamoto? Uh I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering who the hell that is. A 30 year old with career .274 average IN JAPAN ONLY. So this dude who was average in a Japanese league, is going to somehow help the worst hitting team in the MLB? Okay…

  2. One of the other writers thought that they’d sign OF Cedric Mullins who was a fringe top 50 guy that got bumped off at the last minute .

This was said in a chat earlier today

  3. Position players listed for 2 years: Kim, Realmuto, O’Hearn, Bader, Arraez, Carratini, Castro
