He’s a Dodger.
We all know it will happen sadly.
seems like people are saying he’s not an mlb-caliber defensive 3rd baseman. but people have been wrong before. not sure if he’s worth winning the bidding war and additional posting fee for us tho
Pass. He’s destined for 1B and already strikes out close to 30% in NPB, per fangraphs top FA list.
Oh thank god, we’re talking about a third baseman other than [>!redacted!<].
No shot the Tigers sign him. We’re a mid-market team, that can’t even sign our own stars.
Yes, he’s a great 3B and only months older than Greene.
And get the Detroit-Japan connection going. For fuck’s sake, Toyota’s NA HQ is like 40 minutes from Comerica. Tigers are sleeping here. Get them discounted ad space
We need a right handed hitting third basemen
The Tigers don’t need another lefty, but this dude’s OPS is .951, 300 points over the NPB average, with a .270 BA. I don’t know that the Tigers have much presence in that market but man, you gotta try.
My favorite author is playing for the tigers?
How about ha seong kim ? He can play any position in the infield
Dodgers are going to love him. Sounds like he is a K machine?
Yeah, I’ve heard from a [couple reputable sources now that he’s destined to be a 1B/DH type, has a hole in his swing, and a 30+% K rate.](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rates-barrels-a-show-about-baseball/id1486883874?i=1000735537061&r=1909). And he’s a lefty?! That is not a good fit for this team.
He will be a dodger and we all know it
If he is truly any good…. Will be a Dodger unfortunately
Detroit has a daily direct flight to Tokyo 🗼
I wouldn’t hate it if the Tigers’ decided to sign 3 japanese players this off-season (him, Tatsuya Imai and Kazuma Okamoto) and make some trades to make room. It would a shocking change of direction, but it’d be interesting. I don’t think dipping your toe in the Japanese market is the right approach. Need to make a splash and go all in.
Why is this in this sub?
Japanese players don’t go to Detroit when posted. West coast most likely.
I love his books, never seen him bat though.
I’ve never heard of him before seeing this but now I’m convinced if we sign him we’re winning the series next year
