Please no. With those whiff and K rates and how much he’s likely going to cost, I think I’d rather just get Arraez back if those were our only two 1B options.
I mean…they’re not wrong. He’s a fit for us, and Preller is aggressive on pretty much everybody. They will almost certainly talk to him. Only the money issues make it not realistic.
Honestly my hope is that ownership realizes the window is almost closed, and that there are gonna be some down years to come with no decent prospects coming and a lot of dead weight on the payroll. So they go fuck it and go all in on some guys (Murukami or Alonso, Framber, King, etc)
Like whats the worst case scenario? We don’t win a chip and these guys are busts and dead weight? Were already way down that road already. Can’t hurt things any worse than they are now.
It’s not my money. I don’t care if they are stuck paying millions to X and Machado and Darvish and Murukami and Framber and so on versus just paying the guys we already have on albatross contracts. Worst they can do to me as a fan is jack up prices more to pay for these guys. But if they’re all old and the team is sucking I just won’t pay anyway.
So, we will see some pictures with Murakami in Padres gear, and end up in Dodgers again, Roki Sasaki season2 here we go
