Looks Like Tampa Bay Was Right.. #nhl #hockey #nashvillepredators
This has to be one of the most polarizing decisions turned perfect for a franchise that I have ever seen in the NHL. And let me explain. 2024 was the year for free agency in Nashville. They swung big acquiring players like Brady Sheay, Jonathan Marcho, and of course the biggest headliner, Steven Stamco. The PR signed Stammer to a 4-year $32 million contract to help add some additional scoring to their otherwise overachieving roster from the 2023 24 season. Unfortunately though, since he signed that deal with Nashville, the regression that Tampa Bay had predicted has basically come true. Last season, he had half the points he had in his final year with Tampa. And this year, he’s only on pace to have less than 30 points. That is huge from the point per game player he was just two years ago. While it may not have been the most loyal move not signing a franchise legend and your team’s captain, I think we all can agree that if you take emotion out of it, the Tampa Bay Lightning, they were right.

Still weird seeing him in that jersey 😅😅
He already got his cups in TB. He just wants to get paid 💲💰 ya. Dont blame Hammertime.
As a wings fan thinking we would get s
Stammer, glad we didn't
The more I look at it the $3*8yr deal was kind of bang on. Man would have kept playing on a line with Kucherov. All he had to do was shoot the puck and he’d have 40 goals a season.
Him and plata are crap juat shows they are older and probably out of the league in a few year's
Boy has that deal backfired for Nashville. I didn't think Tampa was wrong at the time but I didn't think Stamkos would regress so fast.
He didn't have "half the points" he had his final year in Tampa. 81 to 53 isnt half. He was also plsying with less skilled line mates. He's absolutely regressing cuz father time is undefeated, but it wasn't THAT bad last season.
If you put anyone on a new team, the chemistry will still need to be improved. Obviously Stamkos stats reflect that.
Jerome ignla 2.0
Nashville sucks , it will.make any player look bad being there.
What he needs isn’t anti-aging, but Kucherov
Isn't it they wanted to sign him but for lower money, and he refused it?
But…. Steven was "disrespected" by Tampa. Father time always wins. Just because we don't think it's "fair" doesn't mean it's not reality. Hope this is a lesson for other guys. Tavares made the best decision for himself and didn't yell and scream and pout and whine.
Oilers are on pace for less than 30 points this season too😂
I don''t think his numbers would have dropped that much if he stayed in Tampa.
It’s also the preds who suck
Always been overrated. Many other players would've had his numbers with the stars he's always played with.
Injuries and Father Time caught up with him. Not everyone is Jagr.
Nice eyebrows,do you pluck them yourself💅😂
Who didn’t see this coming? PP/Kuch merchant.
I honestly believe so much of his problems stem from them having so many other key right shots. They all want the ice he’s made a career at having.
Stamkos wishes he was on that Tampa PP
I just subscribed! 🔥
The best thing for him now would be to get out of Nashville and get traded to a contending team. The rumors have been flying for days. A change of scenery would do wonders for him.
I just think nashville is purely wrong team for stammer. Yeah he might have fallen bit but i bet he would be still decent 55-65point guy in any other team
I think hes just lost the interest after hes team did what they did, I promise he would still be almost point per game player
Has Vincent Lecavalier vibes
Advanced stats do prove that Tampa had a good reason to foresee this. On his last Tampa year Stamkos had almost half of his points come from PP while being going -21 on the year, and that's with a deeper Top 6.
I feel like if he's stayed in tampa it wouldn't have ended like this.
The hardest thing about reality is accepting it. Tampa did.
Nashville's playstyle doesn't favor him at all
Leave it to the predators to be in the wrong end of a bad move
One can only hope we trade him to Vancouver. Hell, retain 50% salary. Just get him off the team and get younger guys like Kemell, L’Heureux, etc. a chance to actually settle in the NHL. What the preds are doing is essentially vastly multiplying the odds of their biggest prospects becoming journeymen. When a player bounces between leagues, he can’t develop.
I think Stamer is dying inside. To be the captain of a Stanley cup winning team and then have them not resign you has to penetrate your armor of confidence. Look what JT did to the islanders. That is as low as you can get when a player lies to his fans, ownership and teammates. The Islanders couldn’t get over the hump all because of this one mistake. At the time, the islanders could have gotten a haul for an 84 point young JT and I have no doubt the islanders would have won back to back Stanley Cups. I feel like stammer got the reverse treatment when a team does it to a player. Does anyone think he’s happy in Nashville? To move everything including your confidence has to be very hard. In JT’s case he could have moved to another team for 17 games and then signed his $11 million contract after the season. this would’ve allowed the Islanders to capitalize on the trade and would have won at least one Stanley Cup.
Those eyebrows are wild! 👀😅
I don't know if the issue is Marchessault or Stamkos or O'Reilly individually but I remember a commentator saying before last season began that he thought those three could not really work together because they basically did the same job in their respective team. Boy was he right!
you dont need to say let me explain. i was expecting an explanation anyway
this is why teams have analytics departments. Every model i looked at had stamkos regressing heavily even before he was traded. His 5 on 5 play especially was trending downwards
Stamkos has been my favourite player throughout his career. He was the only reason I didn't cheer against Tampa, and then he goes to fricken Nashville! I gotta say i'm happy it wasn't the Bruins, Kings, Panthers or Alberta, but now that the Panthers suck I haven't seen him play in over a season, sadly.
NSH fucked themselves with those contracts.
