These are signs of GREAT coaching. I only became a Ducks fan in 2022, and this is such an insane turnaround from when all I knew was (respectfully) poor hockey from this team. Here are a few examples of some articles I’ve seen for both groups:

Young players:

Carlsson

Gauthier

Sennecke

Veterans:

Trouba

Kreider

Kreider (from Rangers' perspective)

Granlund

Johnston

Not every duck is getting a news article—some, like McTavish, Killorn, & Vatrano, have been quiet to start the season. Others like Troy Terry are playing excellent, but there are just too many emerging storylines to keep up with for a team without much national attention. We’ll see that change if they keep this up.

  1. I kinda like not having all the attention tho even though it’s deserved but it keeps us in the shadows where killers make moves 🤫

  2. McTavish has actually been pretty good, but just hasn’t been getting the points. Killorn isn’t really going to be a big scorer at this point, but he’s been solid. Vatrano is the problematic one. Not scoring, and that’s really the only way he contributes at this point. I’d rather move him and play Colangelo (or Nesterenko if he sits when everyone’s healthy).

  3. I mean I don’t know if I’d necessarily consider McTavish’s 10 in 13 *quiet* per se, but it’s definitely not the kabooms that have been the others listed here.

  4. Killorn is playing good defense and a stole lots of pucks against Dallas. Vatrano is the only not contributing yet

  5. You need depth to make a run. Frankie is beloved in the locker room and the kinda player you want who can catch 🔥and become your streaky star when you need it late in the yr or post season. Let Frank be Frank

  6. All credit to Johnston too. With Gudas out he’s helped match and push back on team’s physicality (looking at you, Dallas and Florida!)

  7. I think the Dark Horse of the group is Kreider. Not just from his goal streak, he’s playing excellent hockey but him and Trouba are doing what they did in NY: lead.

Kreider is playing qb on some plays and coaching the younger guys on how to improve. It’s apparent in the Dallas game, and when he was out the Ducks struggled a bit.

Willing to bet 100% Kreider and Trouba are encouraging the group to come back and excel and they are buying into it. It shows. They may cost an arm and a leg currently but to unlock all their potential? It’s priceless
