[Pete Mundo] the Chiefs have an RFP out to multiple firms to build a new stadium in KCK at 435/70 that would be domed with 65,000 seats and have a retractable grass field. The team will whittle down from 10 firms to two by early next year. This does NOT guarantee they are going to Kansas.

I won’t cry for the location arrowheads in but will be sad to lose the building with all its characteristics you can’t rebuild anymore. Like a dangerous upper bowl built for sound and not to keep people from falling to their deaths.
Also fuck no to domes and retractable fields. That shit is trash.
Would honestly be stunned if they don’t go to the Legends.
I have huge doubts Clark really cares about Arrowhead enough to turn down a dome, fancy suites, more events, and a potential Super Bowl.

Most surprising part of this news is not that they continue to make progress with this option, it’s that they’re reducing seating capacity by 15%. Who made that fuckin decision?
65,000? They could fill 85,000 easy. This makes no sense.
I went to Arrowhead for MNF and was first time I’ve been in a decade after I routinely went a couple times a year. Reason being life with starting family etc, but that’s beside the point.
My point is that I have been to other stadiums for various things in that time span and returning to Arrowhead really cemented just how old and outdated it is. It is time.
That doesn’t mean you cannot love it, it’s history, and all the things that make Arrowhead what it is. It also doesn’t mean you have to stay with it forever. And now is the perfect time to transition. Get it built before Mahomes is done. Hopefully he gets to play some still prime Mahomes years there to solidify it as the new home of the world class franchise we have. Let him close out Arrowhead. Let him maybe even bring in the new spot with some crazy success and hopefully a Super Bowl.
KC metro and the Chiefs from the team to the fans to everyone else deserve something new and exciting. Just embrace it. They will do right by everyone on it.

How long would you guys say until they build it? I know probably a bit but I’ve been a fan of this team for awhile and live in Ontario and would love to watch a game in Arrowhead before they move. Just curious how much time I’d have to do that?

Teams profit share seats, not suite. Stadiums will continue to lower seating capacity and increase suits.
I’m pretty surprised to see people surprised about the reduced capacity. They don’t want a stadium for you and me. They want a stadium for those who can pay for premium experiences.
I don’t love the retractable grass field idea given the raiders and cardinals both have them and both are as bad or worse for injuries than turf

I’ve been going to Arrowhead for 31 years. If they move and build a damn done and jack up pricing I’m done.
This makes me glad Missouri didn’t dedicate public funding to this.
Enjoy your investment Kansas. Reid will be gone. Mahomes, if still playing, will be at the very tail end of a long career. The team at best will be in a decade rebuild and at worst 50 years of frustration like we endured in Jackson County.

I don’t know why anyone is acting like this is news. The Chiefs have been saying that they were going to put out a request for designs for both the new stadium and a renovated arrowhead.
Yay i love being rewarded for decades of support by moving the stadium to fucking Kansas. Don’t get me wrong it’s not like I’m gunna not be a chiefs fan over it but it is kind of annoying.
