  1. My hot take/controversial opinion is Rui bought in too hard.

I’m guessing the staff really stressed to everyone not names Bron, Luka, and AR that this season was about knowing your role, staying ready and being ready to make the right decision once one of those three get you the ball. As a result, Rui’s in role player mindset when he’s really a bit more than a role player but a bit less than those other three.

It’s early. I’m sure given how close the four of them are, they’ll make him realize he needs to be more aggressive once in a while

  2. Rui 69 percent in the paint damn that means he was 70 percent before the two missed layups

  3. I love what Rui has done this year and I appreciate that JJ has allowed him to take those mid-range shots. In today’s game, not many players are “allowed” or encouraged to take mid-range shots. They are almost exclusively reserved for the best few players on your team.

Rui has always been very good at the mid-range with early comparisons to a Carmelo and Kawhi style game. It’s been pretty impressive how much he has been able to reinvent himself offensively by becoming a deadly 3PT shooter after he was traded to the Lakers.

This year, however, he’s finally fully merging the two parts of his career together. His drive left and bump off for the short jumper is elite with his size and is something I hope to see him continue doing with a decent frequency. While Lebron is still gone, I hope he can stay aggressive and I honestly think JJ should run some little plays to get Rui those little FT line extended flashes for jumpers every now and again.

  4. If Rui was on another team all the talking heads would be screaming that we have to trade a first for him. “you need shooters to knock down the shots the playmakers set up!’ Etc etc.

Instead, Rui is a ‘bad fit’ and we should trade him and a first for an older, more expensive, less consistent, worse shooting Andrew Wiggins….for the ‘fit’.

Rui is the perfect fit with Luka. Guards all 3 frontcourt positions, does dirty work without complaint and cooly knocks down catch and shoots at the best rate in the league.

People really gotta pull their heads outta their asses and stop listening to podscum.

  5. Rui has been so good with his shooting and efficency that unless were getting a amazing trade package back i think it’d be very foolish to trade him. Yes his defense aint the best but to be getting this type of efficency and consistent to from a 6’8 player who can play the small ball 5 effectively when needed as well is so valuable. Plus he fits very well next to Luka. Going back to that playoff series vs Memphis he’s been a very good 3 point shooter which is something you wouldn’t expect if you didnt know much about him.

  6. Washington nearly ruined a top 10 pick. 9th overall now on the Lakers 🙏🏽 for Nunn too

  7. Laravia and Hachimura are such efficient secondary scorers. This season is going to be fucking awesome.

  8. A lot of our guys are insanely efficient this year especially from two. JJ is doing a good job with the offense and Austin and Luka have been excellent at getting guys good looks

  9. Our Lakeshow is shooting 60+% inside the arc so far, which the pundits say is not sustainable.. but i dont agree man lookin at Rui and Ayton automatic in the middy and Bron Luka AR so good attacking the paint, idk man i think thats sustainable, above 55 is not that crazy for this team

  10. RUI IS OUR MID RANGE AARON GORDON, HE SUCKS AS A 3 DEFENDER BUT DOES FINE DEFENDING THE 4

    40%+ CATCH AND SHOOT 3s

    AUTOMATIC FROM MIDRANGE

  11. With that shooting efficiency and the areas where the shots are occurring, that’s the type of shots that really cause issues for other teams. That’s pretty damn good.
