He just got SMOKED

[Applause] You know, it it was the head. Those two looks Tyler Pitick just smoked Jaylen Chatfield for one of the biggest hits of the year so far. Chatfield goes down. He’s slow to get up. Jordan Stall, the old bum, jumps on Pitick and the two start to dance. That would be the last thing Pitlick would get to do as he headed to the showers early with a 5-minute major and a game misconduct. But let’s take a look at the hit because it was a big one. It all starts with Chatfield stopping a Minnesota break-in. He grabs a bobbling puck, sends the puck up to his buddy, and boom, Pitlick lines up the train tracks and runs him over. Then the ensuing scrum with old man stall happens. And man, this is a really gray area hit. I’ve gone back and forth on it. Like the contact with Chatfield does look to be in his head, and that’s not good. That’s why he’s probably getting tossed, but you know what they say, you got to keep your head on a swivel, especially when the game is in transition. I actually don’t think this was malicious from Pitlick. He’s known to be a bit of a dummy, which is I guess represented here by the angle he took, but he kind of just drives through his man. I don’t think he gave a chicken wing or anything super dirty like the Canes commentators were calling for. It’s just a violent little bit high hit where unfortunately Chatfield was injured. I mean, that sucks for the Canes. They keep taking hits to their decor. One of my favorite defenseman in the league, Slavven is out. The Ghost Bear is out. Chatfield’s now out. And they’ve got Keandre Miller back tonight from injury. Thank god. And even though he’s going to have a big goose egg tomorrow, at least Chatfield can be happy the boys rallied for the win. It was just over halfway through the first when this hit happened. Minnesota was up one- nothing, but Jason Blake Jr. scores a beauty to tie it up. Just no one to stop him. He goes coast to coast, ties it up. Then Faber would help get the lead back, snapping a quick one-time. But before the period is through, Fetch scores a beauty of his own, walking through the Minnesota defense. And Shawn Walker would put them up just a few minutes later, giving them the lead heading into the intermission. Baldi taps one in on the power play to start the second. But you want to talk about a tap in. Let’s talk about moose head legend Nick Eers as Jackson Blake feeds him the sauce and he butters it into the net. Only his second for the Canes. He’s on a slow burn, but you can see how much that meant for him. Tell Minnesota, “No, no, no.” Anderson shuts the door the rest of the way and the Canes win 4-3. They look as advertised heading into the season. Can’t say the same for Minnesota since signing Capri off to that big somewhat controversial deal. Five, seven and three, seventh in the central behind Nashville and Chicago. Thank god Flurry isn’t around to watch any of this. But what did you think of the hit?   2. Not dirty, questionable as to being late. Chatfield has his head down watching a bouncing puck so he's in a bad spot. If his head is 3-4" higher, that's a shoulder to the chest. He probably took just as much — or more — damage from being run over by Trenin as he's going down.

The Wild aren't elite in the league, so they get treated like all bottom teir teams by the league, and scapegoats for things that happen all the time but are overlooked if you're a star or a front runner. I can point out a half dozen instances where one of their star players was targeted with zero repercussions from the pathetic 'office of player safety'.

  11. I think it was just a unfortunate hit, as he didnt raise his shoulder or elbow. To me imo he looked to hit him in his chest and him dipping down to pass, penalty sure, but a toss is a lil much. i agree with you but its a tough call to make as a players health is invovled. hope he recovers and is all right.

  12. Keep yr head up Chatfield. Karma. Chatfield is known for being a Rat, a dirty chippy player himself. Its too bad bc hes actually a really GOOD player too. What goes around comes around

  15. Has no one realized a Wild player accidentally kneed the Canes player after he was down? These kinds of hits are sort of a gray area. Even if it was to the chest, his head snapped back violently.

  17. I think the thing that makes it a misconduct for me is you can see him raise his shoulder right as he’s going to hit Chatty. There’s clearly intent to go high and that’s what made him get the boot. I’m a Canes fan first and I love the Wild but you can’t let hits like that be the norm or there won’t be hockey players in the league without CTE.

  25. 100 percent clean hit. Too many people dont seem to realise that the game happens in real time from first person perspective. Everyone is trying to find an angle of the hit that is misleading to make it appear dirty so they can virtue signal for phony morality points. Its Hockey people, grow some balls.
