Is Demko hurt or are the Canucks just finding a creative way to ensure he gets the rest he needs?
I get the angst among the fan base. I I 100% get it that they’re saying the Conucks are so full of you know what they’re lying to us. Demco has to be hurt this that and the other. Demco hasn’t played since Monday. So the emergency recall comes today. He can’t play tomorrow. Which means that is he good enough or is he an option to back up on Sunday? If that’s the case then I think that they’re okay. They’re just actually giving him a day off and they are listening to him and saying you know what that you’re right. you know, we’re going to hold you to a pitch count and you’re going to play, you’re going to look through the schedule maybe a couple weeks in advance and say, “I need these couple days off. I want this couple days off because there’s a little gap in the schedule.” If he doesn’t back up Sunday, doesn’t practice on Monday, I think that begs a massive question as to what’s going on with that Demco. Like I I’ve got the CBA section pulled up here for an emergency recall. So, this is article 13, the CBA. Emergency conditions shall be established when the plank strength of the club by reason of incapacitating injury. Result of that you are below two healthy goalenders. He can’t just say load management and call up. There needs to be some semblance of okay he is under 100% full health. But like you said, it could be just as simple as he misses Saturday but then ends up playing Sunday. And that would technically qualify because well, you could argue that he’s not healthy for Saturday. Yep. And I think that that’s what’s going to happen. Whether he plays or backs up on Sunday, I think that remains to be the question. But as far as we know and as far as it’s laid out right there, he’s not going to be in the lineup tomorrow against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
