Patrick Mahomes is “GOD Playing QB”! – Swagu on Chiefs DESTROY Commanders 28-7 to improve to 5-3
Back to the action on Monday Night Football. Commanders at Chiefs is where we go now. Getting this one going there in Kansas City for these two teams. And of course, no Jaden Daniels in this game. It was all about Marcus Mariota against Patrick Mahomes. Let’s see if we’re going to get to the highlight. There they are. All right. Momes making his entrance. It was lit in there, y’all. I got to tell you. 829 in the second quarter, scoreless. Chiefs first and 10 in their own 47. Mahomes finds Kelsey the 31yd gain. All day. All day to throw. credit this Chiefs offensive line and then we see again some of creativity with it comes to the motion pre- snap specifically down in that low red zone area from this offense. Manders were hanging around. The Chiefs did take the seven nothing lead there a minute about left in the second quarter. Marcus Mariota floating that one up in the end zone. Terry McLaren makes the catch. It’s initially ruled out of bounds, but what an a job by Terry McLaren to do that. You see Jaden Daniels fired up. It’s tied 7-7 at the half. 1250 in the third quarter. Game tied at seven. And this is when the Chiefs really started to break this thing open. Mahomes finding Travis Kelce for 38 yards. Yeah, it goes like he almost falls there when he’s going to move. And then Kelsey’s block, block, realizes no one’s left, releases, and there’s that connection down there again. And then in the red zone, the creativity, the plus, no one remotely close to rushing. Patrick Mahomes finds Kareem Hunt. Fourth and goal. Going for it there. And it pays off. They take the 14 to7 lead. Same score in the third quarter. Chiefs second and six. Mahomes finds Kelsey for the touchdown. Kelsey’s 83rd career tdown, tying Priest Holmes for the most in Chiefs franchise history. Eight minutes left in the fourth. And Mahomes finding Rashi Rice. He takes it in for the touchdown. And then he made this young fan giving him the football after. Here’s Andy Reid after another big win for the Chiefs. They’re rolling. How about those? All right. Hey, listen. Great job. Uh better second half than first half. Yep. Right. You put it together, put it down. It’s 53% of the time teams are losing this game. So, you’re playing against the odds. Did a nice job there. I mean, I know the record’s not as good, but it’s a lot more fun just when you when everybody’s kind of going out there and and making stuff happen, but uh I think we’re getting better and better. You know, we we lost some tough games early um that we had won in previous years, but it’s not like anyone hung their head. They just they just continue to get better and better, and that’s all we have to do. Um it’s been fun to get to be here at Arrowhead doing it, and now we’ll get to take it on the road and see if we can do it again. All right. So, it’s interesting because one of the things that Patrick Mahomes had said to us prior to the game is they have this mentality on the offense, everybody eats and and really they enjoy each other as a receiver room. So, they actually celebrate each other’s success. What has stood out to you most about Mahomes in this offense? Plus, plus plays, you know, it’s the the unscripted, the inexplainable, the Patrick Mahomes is doing things that really only he can do. Here’s my thing. We didn’t really see that last year, you know, and so then it went to this offense that was catch and throw, catch and throw, catch and throw, quick game. And now what we’ve watched, it started a little bit this year and it’s really started to come on the last three weeks since everyone’s been healthy. Just look at who he is and what their offense is when he holds the ball now. That’s kind of what he became famous for 5, six, seven years ago. Last year it was seven yards a play, 10 9 to7 touchdown interception ratio. QBR 29. Look where he is right now. almost 11 yards a play, hasn’t thrown a pick and a QBR almost triple what it was last year. If I was the AFC, if I was Buffalo, who they’re playing Sunday afternoon, if I was the AFC, that would be the most concerning thing that I watch out of this offense right now is like he looks back to what he has been for many years, if not better. This offense is better than last year’s offense. This this current offense, not even remotely close, right? 100%. Yeah. In part because they threat they he uses the entire field. The only reason why Travis Kelce gets to rumble down the sideline is because they’re worried about Xavier Worthy running downfield there. Um, but to Dan’s point, it was the extended plays that really jumped out to me in this game, eight for nine for 149 yards on throws over four seconds and three touchdowns. Some of that was good pass protection, but a lot of it was Mahomes creating outside of structure. Now, another thing that caught my eye in this particular game about those extended plays, yes, most of them went to Kelsey. They’re always going to go to Kelsey. connection that those two have when the play breaks down is the stuff of miss. But she writes the second and 17 that you saw there where he like runs the comeback. He senses that Patrick is extending so he finds that void in zone coverage. That’s a big deal. That was almost reminiscent of Tyreek Hill and that has been missing in this offense on those extended dropbacks. Really fast Marcus before you jump in. One of the things that Andy Reid had told us prior to this game is that Mahomes has fighter pilot vision of the field. He he was like basically whatever the play call is, Mahomes sees the field so well that he can he knows if it’s going to work or not and I’ll go create and it’s crazy like when you watch him even last night just surveying the field. I mean I think that’s probably something that I I don’t know if we’ve seen him do it at this level in a while. Certainly not last year. Oh, totally totally this year you’ve been like uhoh it’s back. Yeah, it’s interesting. All right, go ahead, Marcus. I mean, you y’all hit the points, the ball distribution and no matter what the play is calling for his ability to improv, but I also want to give, you know, obviously we’ve seen this with Travis Kelce for a number of years, the understanding of where to improv, too. That that Kareem Hunt touchdown, Kareem felt that and found space uh for Patrick Mahomes and while he’s extending plays, the timing and the rhythm that he’s playing with, when the plays are there, and how they’re structured. I think a lot of this though boils down to the fact that he is who we think he is. Like, and for as many times that we have conversations about, uh-oh, what’s going on with the Chiefs? And do they need to do this differently? Do they need to do that differently? It was all a matter of them getting healthy. And now Patrick Mahomes to me is always been one of those guys that when you get in game like heavy game time situations. You come out of the half, you don’t expect to be there with the Washington Commanders. You don’t expect the score to be there. It was like, “All right, let me open up everything that I have at my disposal to go down and make plays for my team, but also get other guys involved.” I think the rapport that he has with his pass catchers when he’s improving is something that has taken them not only to win Super Bowls, but it’s why we always see him in the AFC Championship. And the freedom and the ability that it gives these guys to know that he’s going to find them if they’re open. Speaking of that fighter pilot uh vision you’re talking about, yeah, I mean, and listen, we’re not even talking about the defense yet, which we’ll talk about this week on NFL Live. That Chief’s defense looks pretty darn good, too. Good news for the Commanders, by the way. Dan Quinn said quarterback Jaden Daniels had a good rehab session. Expects him to practice tomorrow. He was itching to get out there even yesterday. And credit to Marcus Mariota for doing the best job he could on the road in a new on NFL Live. This is where we begin today. Lamar Jackson expected to play on Thursday after being sidelined four weeks with a hamstring injury. You see him out there at practice today. He was full go and spoke to the media just moments ago. It was very challenging, man. uh when I found out I had a uh hammock injury and uh when um I was told by the training staff how long I was going to be out and stuff like that, I was we got to do whatever we can, you know, fast as we could to get back out there and it’s here. Took a little time, but we here. Coach pretty much touched on that talking about that uh with us in the uh team meeting. You know, each and every game going to be like a win or go home game. You know, um we started off first season ever starting off like this slow. So, we’re going to have to just do or die right now each and every week. All right, we welcome you to the show. We got Mina Kloski here. Marcus Spear is joining us as well. Mina, let’s start with this week. They play on Thursday. What do you want to see from Lamar Jackson in his return? Well, I’d like to see dominance because they’re going against Miami. I feel like they can attack that defense in a number of ways, but compared to what we saw earlier in the season before he got hurt, I think the number one you want to see is him taking fewer sacks. That was the biggest issue with the passing attack early on. His pressure to sack ratio 33%, second highest in football, and that’s not normal for Lamar Jackson. As of course, you know, he doesn’t take a lot of sacks. Last year, he had the fourth lowest pressure sack ratio in football. Some of that had to do with pass protection, but I would argue, Dan, much more of it had to do with the lack of pass catchers at his disposal or the sort of inconsistency that they had um that sort of kept it from looking like the passing offense last year. But Jackson himself also has to pull the trigger faster because that was an issue early in the season. Yeah, I totally agree. This football team and really this offense is probably the biggest unknown in the NFL right now. We haven’t seen this version of the Ravens that we’re going to watch on Thursday night. We we haven’t seen Lamar have the lineup of Ronnie Stanley and Mark Andrews and Patrick Ricard and DeAndre Hopkins all on the field together. So, while they had this terribly low or slow start, we just haven’t watched this group get on the field this year. and all of us had this expectation that this was a Super Bowl winning team and the addition of a player like Katon Mitchell and more touches for him. I know that the chips are stacked against them, but this is a great unknown. This is like the the team that is lurking out there because with Lamar back and everybody healthy, certainly on the offensive side, this team should look like the Super Bowl one we thought. The first three quarters against Buffalo. Exactly. That looked like the best offense in ever. Yeah. Yeah. So, it’s just a great unknown right now. And I think it’s I agree with Mina. Impressed by Mime’s defense last week, but this unit should dominate. I thought you were going to say something else. I I agree with Dan. Yeah, I agree with him. Agreeing with me. I know. I know. Patrick Ricard coming back, too. I mean, that that’s so huge. A huge part of their offense. Big piece of what they want to do. All right. Now, just speaking to their chances going forward after a win over Chicago, the Ravens now sit at two and five on the season, but just two games back of the Steelers for the division lead. With that victory, Baltimore’s chances to win the AFC North jumped from 23% to 43%. How important that game was. That’s just behind the Steelers who dropped from 64 to 47% to win the AFC North after their loss to the Packers. So, Marcus, looking big picture here, does this Ravens team have enough to make a run and really dig themselves out of this hole? I do, Boogie. And it’s based on what Mina and Dan just talked about as well, getting healthier and having your full boat on the football field. Obviously, the defense has been very disappointing, but also you got a couple guys back on that side. You saw Kyle Hamilton play in some different spots. Rocoin Smith being back in the lineup as well. I think this team is going to be poised. And look, I don’t know how healthy Lamar Jackson Hamstring is cuz that to me is going to be a big deal as he goes. Hopefully, he can fully heal while he plays football, but his ability to break the pocket, his ability to play extend, all of those things are going to come into play. But when you look at this schedule, right, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals, all of those are winnable. You look all the way until probably the Patriots as a team that’s been pretty consistent. Um, that that you would think would be a a real challenge and then the Packers after that. But Baltimore, as crazy as it sounds, has a chance not only to reinsert themselves in this division, but I believe they have a chance to run the table. And that is boring health obviously with this football team and this defense improving week in and week out. But it is not far-fetched. Y’all know my belief in Lamar Jackson. When he’s playing in any game, I think it’s winnable. Yeah, Marcus, how about this? The Ravens have averaged 33 points per game in Lamar Jackson’s four starts this season compared to 14 points in the three that he’s missed. So that’s a big point differential. You’re probably going to win those games back. Yeah, it does. of the cell.

What is with the crooked camera coverage.??? You can't see all the players etc… ???
Glad to see Lamar coming back! Love watching this dude play & Iβm guessing heβs gonna ball out trying to keep them in the division race.
The Ravens aren't running the table. I do think 10-7 is possible and would probably get them in. Beat everyone but the Pats and Packers. Or split those tough games and split the Steeler games, something like that.
Chiefs looking scarier and scarier. Next three games will tell the tale.
Only time will tell!
