Jaire Alexander: I have no doubt I can still play at a high level

  1. I have my doubts but we’ll see. I mean the guy isn’t going to say, “I’m actually completely cooked guys.”

  2. Reminds of the Billy Beane/David Justice interaction from Moneyball :

“David, you’re 37. How about you and I be honest about what each of us want out of this? I wanna milk the last ounce of baseball you got in you. And you wanna stay in the show. Let’s do that. I’m not paying you for the player you used to be. I’m paying you for the player you are right now. You’re smart. You get what we’re trying to do here. Make an example for the younger guys. Be a leader. Can you do that?”

The part about the Yankees paying him to play somewhere else fits too, specifically this week. $17m dead cap hit on Green Bays 2025 books lol.

  3. Not saying he won’t be washed here, but as someone who lived in NY and was stuck watching more local Giants games than I ever wanted to, the discourse around Bradberry before we got him was that he couldn’t cover a middle school WR and didn’t deserve field time. Then his first year he was with us, he was playing at an All Pro level before regressing.

If Jaire can be even slightly above NFL average at CB2 for the remainder of this season and helps us make a SB run, he was worth the draft capital

  4. I have zero expectations for him.

The way we play defense, if he can be mediocre in coverage and good in tackling, it’ll be enough

  5. The dude is 28. I’m going to guarantee he’s going to make an impact on this team. Philadelphia is a way better sports town than Baltimore. Especially when it comes to football. He’s going to get his second wind here.

  6. Problem is, Jaire, that the rest of us do have doubts that you can still play at a high level.

So, how about we call it a wash and just play at a level above dogshit. This is a step up from what we’ve gotten from Adoree and Kelee.

  7. I said it in another thread. He was still good in a heavy zone scheme in Green Bay. Heavy man scheme of Baltimore? Terrible.

A change in scheme might just make him “not bad”. I do not expect him to light the world on fire, but I think a reasonable expectation of “not bad” is fair.
