Hello, welcome to Locked On Sharks, the premier hockey podcast covering your favorite team, the Bay Area. My name is JD Young, caretaker at the Reef, also the co-host of Locked On NHL. And if you want to be an everydayer, all you have to do is just follow along over You Give podcast. And of course, you can watch on YouTube as well. And we’re going to be spending the next 10 minutes or so discussing the Sharks verse Panthers game as the Sharks uh massive win last night against a a very good Winnipeg team. And then now no rest for the wicked as the Sharks play the two-time defending champion Florida Panthers. So we’ll get to know the Panthers here. Uh look at how they’ve been kind of struggling to score this season. uh look at potential lines uh for the teams and then what to watch for in this game. So uh let’s get started by seeing how these two teams match up. Um your San Jose Sharks 66 and three. The Florida Panthers 76 and one. The Panthers struggling to score this year at 2.71 goals four per game. Good for 25th. The Sharks are at 3.33 goals for per game 10th in the NHL. Uh the Panthers 13th best uh goals allowed per game played with three. The Sharks uh slowly climbing the the rankings here at 3.6 goals allowed per game, good for 30th. Uh both the power plays are pretty similar. The Panthers at 19.2% 18th and the Sharks at 19.6 good for 17th. The PK uh 75% for the Panthers, 22nd in the league. Uh the Sharks 72.9 24th in the league. Uh Marian leads the Panthers in goals with nine. Samuskevich with seven assists and Marshian with 15 points. Celebrate with nine goals, 14 assists, and 23 points. Your NHL points leader uh as of right now. Um this Panthers team, right, you’re you’re missing two of of your big guys and Barov and Kachchuck. Um and they have been struggling to finish this year and struggling to score. They’ve been generating solid expected goals for um they’ve been really good defensively as well um at 515, but the special teams are letting them down with the power play at 19th and the PK is so low and the uh the goalies, you know, Bobski hasn’t, you know, not up to the typical Bobski performances, but this is a team right now that is struggling to scratch together goals here uh for as they’re trying to, you know, three repeat here uh as the lineups list in Lendell Marshand uh Verhagi Rodriguez Reinhardt uh Boquest Bennett Samoskevich uh Greer Schwint and old friend Noah Gregor go uh Forsling Eblad uh and Forsling has turned into an amazing uh shutdown defenseman for them. uh Mikola Jones, uh Saberno and Petri, Bobski, Imterasov, uh defense or in net. So assuming Bob Rosski starts tonight, um for your Sharks, so uh the lineups that we had last night, it’s of course going to be a little bit different. We know Dickinson’s expected to get back in. Um I would assume Day Hard is probably where he slides in at, but we’ll see. Uh there’s no morning skate today. We’ll we’ll know right before game. So to fully celebr that line was was excellent yesterday. Skinner Dandria Cardwell Goodrodette and Reeves uh Orlovran Ferraro Clingberg Muk Madullan and as I expect I Dickinson is probably signing there with Ascrov starting uh tonight with Nidel coming off Nadulkovich’s great game uh against the Winnipeg Jets. So, um, what to watch for in this game, right? Um, and I I think for the Sharks, right, is kind of a tale of two different teams where the Sharks maybe not generating as much offensively. Uh, you know, when it comes to kind of like expected goals and shot attempts and stuff like that, like the Sharks are still near the bottom, but the Sharks are way outscoring what their expectations are for the Panthers, right? They just they can’t finish it so far this season. and they’re generating offense, but they’re not able to. So, my guess is is kind of how this game goes is the Panthers, which are a heavy forcheing, we want to control the puck type of team, they’re probably going to do that, right? And the Sharks are going to have to take advantage of their opportunities in this game, which is something that we’ve preached a lot with the Sharks, right? is you’re going to have to take your can take advantage of your opportunities and be able to capitalize when you do because this Panthers team, right, they’re not going to give you a lot defensively. So, when you get your opportunities, you need to take advantage of them. Um, I’m I’m curious to see how the matchups go. I assume the Wenberg line is going to be taking on um the Marian line because the Marshian line is is Marian’s basically the only guy who’s scoring right now for um the for the Panthers. So that means most likely the Celabbrini line is going to be taking on Bhagi Rodriguez and Reinhardt. And I really like the Celabbrini line against that combination there. So, um, if the Wberg line can again shut down this Lundell line with Marshand, um, and Lister Rinan and then Mlin Celbrini can continue to do Mlin Celabbrini things as we have seen him do so far this season. That’s going to be very favorable for the San Jose Sharks. I think special teams are going to be a huge part, especially with two even special teams units, right? The Sharks power play and the Panthers power play are both about even and the PK units are both also not super great. So whichever power play unit can take advantage I think is going to go a long way uh in this game. And I know the Sharks are on a second night of a backtoback, but um this is a very young team, right? we know with just all their youth and this Panthers team is a much older team who’s gone through the grind of of you know three straight Stanley Cup trips and yes they’ve had some rest here but um I I don’t think that the like backtoback is going to be super worrisome for the Sharks. So um I really like that I like the Sharks to keep things rolling in this game. Um just because the Panthers they they struggle to score. Um, and if Ascrov can continue to play the way that he’s played the last couple games, I think the Sharks really have an opportunity. And when I mean the Sh like the Panthers struggle to score, they have two players who have doubledigit points so far this season. Brad Marshian and Anton Lindell. Uh, the Sharks on the other hand, uh, they have six players who have at least 10 points this year. Celbrini, Smith, Ecklund, to Foley, Orlav, and Kership all have at least 10 points this year. Uh, with Wenberg knocking on the door as well. So, I think the Sharks just offer more variety with their scoring and I think Celibbrini is going to continue to do Celibbrini things um because I think he’s going to have a primo matchup, especially if he can get matched up against that second line. So, I think the Sharks keep it going. I think the Sharks win this game. Uh, even despite on a backto-back, I think the Sharks win this game. the vibes are too good right now for San Jose. Uh and like this is they’ve been playing too well over the past couple weeks. I know they’re probably due for a stinker at some time, but um coming off of of the last game thrilling game against the Jets uh against a team that’s right now I just I don’t believe can get the puck in the back of the net uh on a you know uh just I just don’t think they can score enough. I think the Sharks can score. Um so I think the Sharks win this game. I think it’s 4 to2. I think Cabbrini has another at least another point today. You know what? Uh, give me a Dickinson point. I think Dickinson was playing really well as well. So, give me a Dickinson point. Give me a Cabbrini point. And I think the Sharks win this game 4 to2. So, uh, we’ll break down this game tonight, of course, uh, wherever you get podcast and and you can watch on YouTube as well. Uh, so make sure you guys are following along. 1. I hope you’re right.

The only things I would say is FLA scored 5 in their last outing and is rested. SJ is playing back to back and they lost in OT the last time they did that. The good news is it’s a home game for SJ. Go Sharks!
