I look back on Shanahan’s time with the Leafs and am extremely frustrated by it. Yep. But you might be surprised to think I think this is a really good idea for the Sabres. I am so with you. Tell us why. They have a culture issue. Yep. And they have an organizational professionalism issue. Shanahan came in on a team that had no real relationship with the fans, which is something that he would strain in later years, but like the Centennial stuff, he nailed it. Oversaw that, oversaw Legends Row, oversaw all the banners. I think the way it ended with him and Dubis was awful. I think his stubbornness was awful. But as long as he’s there to be the liaison between Kevin Adams and ownership and let Kevin do his job and he allowed Kyle Dubis to develop that whole analytics department, he can hire the Sabres as scouting. Shanny brought the Leafs out of the tarsh and made them a perennial 1st round bust but the Sabres fans would kill for that lol
But Terry Pegula hates giving his management full autonomy. He's allergic to it. That's why his wife held the title of president for over a decade, and he only replaced her because her health is failing. Incidentally, the person who replaced Pegulas wife as president? Pegula himself.
Shanny assembled a first place in the division team year after year but the culture and coaching in Toronto you just can't win with it. The entitlement and laziness will never work in the playoffs with that group
They are GMs that can build contenders and GMs who can pull a team out of the gutter. Sabres needs the latter and he could be that guy from them.
The longer it goes without shanni in Toronto the more I don't think he is the issue .. toronto still does the same shyt .. shanni could really help Sabres 100%
The Buffalo Sabres have spent more than a decade rearranging pieces that don't fit together. Shanahan could shake that up. And honestly, anyone willing to come to Buffalo of their own free will should be given a blank check to do whatever they want. Hire people, fire people, change the mascot, re-zone downtown Buffalo, go nuts.
