Kyler Murray’s Future With Cardinals “Very Much In Question?!” – Adam Schefter | Pat McAfee Show

Shifty, what’s the injury report looking for tonight? And also, we saw that Kyler Murray is not starting tonight, but he may have some sort of role with him not playing. Like, what does this mean for his future in Arizona potentially? Well, I think it’s a question right now because Jacobe Brassette has played well and even Rex Ryan this morning on Get Up said that he felt like the Cardinals offense operates better with Jacobe Brassette. He’s not the first person to say that. And so that leads you to wonder, okay, if Jacobe Brassette keeps playing well, are they gonna keep having him play quarterback or are they gonna go back to Kyler? Look, and here’s the other point to make here. Their general manager, Monty Austin, their head coach, general, their head coach, Jonathan, neither one of them drafted Kyler Murray. Um, he’s got $36.9 million of guaranteed money due next year. And I just think that this is a question where both sides are probably have to sit down at the end of the season and figure out what’s best in both sides best interest. Like th this this is something that we’re just, you know, you’re just waiting to see how it comes, right? It’s all it’s also interesting, but we’re not there yet right now. It’s not full-blown interesting, but it could be it could be interesting this offseason. Jacobe Brassette playing quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. There’s a chance that Kyler has a role for their team. What do you think about Arizona? And then on the other side, Dallas Cowboys, they could score a 100 or this could be a game that they lose. Like if you ask Dallas Cowboys fans, they will somehow figure out a way to lose this game. Start with the Cardinals and then roll into the Cowboys, Dan. Yeah, I I like the Cardinals tonight. One, this team, although two and five and five losses, five losses by 13 total points. So, this is a team that is just a better football team than their record, every game is incredibly close. And I would argue they’ve played offensively better this year with Jacobe Brassette than they did with Kyler Murray. It seems that he’s got just as good of a connection with Trey McBride, who’s one of the best tight ends in football. Seems like he’s got a better connection with Marvin Harrison Jr. Jacobe does than Kyler. And so I think this is a physical offensive line. They’re going to play with multiple tight ends. They’re going to run the football with success with three tight ends on the field against Dallas. Jacob’s a good player. Okay, this is a he’s he’s been a good quarterback for years in the NFL. He’s not as electric as a Kyler Murray, no question, but he’s going to operate this offense. And I think time of possession can be huge for Arizona tonight. And then I would say defensively, Dallas’s two receivers and tight end we know are fantastic. Defensively, this is a good unit. They don’t give up a ton. They don’t allow a ton of points a game. It’s a huge challenge, but Will Johnson, their corners quarterback, is playing good football. Um, I would expect Buddha Baker to get his hand on the ball tonight, if not two. He’s outstanding. Max Melton’s been playing good. So, I just think this is a better football team. I’m not selling everybody that Arizona is going to blow them out, but I think Arizona is more than capable of winning this game on the road. Jacobe, we talked to Shaft. Jacobe said or Chef said that a lot of people are saying this offense better with Jacobe at quarterback. Why is that? And what do you think about the handling of the entire situation? Shfter told us that this off season could be interesting as he did his windhorse impression for Kyler in Arizona. Your thoughts on that particular case? Yeah. So, Kyler last year, I thought at times was playing like a top five quarterback. He he really had some big-time performances and this year necessarily hasn’t hit that well. Why is Jacobe playing better? I think Jacobe trusts the system a little bit more. I think Jacobe just gets the play call, wants to operate the play call to the very best of the play call, and is willing to allow the defense to tell him where to throw the ball. He’s much obviously less reliant on doing some of this stuff like going and being a playmaker. he just wants to be a facilitator where Kyler’s such a dynamic athlete that if he doesn’t necessarily think the play call gets the line of scrimmage is going to be that ideal call or doesn’t necessarily trust some of the pass concepts he believes that athletically he can go make a play and he’s more often than not accurate but it’s not necessarily the best thing for the the offense right to get everybody involved and so I just think Jacobe because he’s not a ridiculous a athlete has much more of a facilitator mindset and this is an offense that talented. I like Mike Wilson, their second receiver. Marvin Harrison’s had a much better performance than I think that Thursday night game. He had that those big plays late. I think Herby was on the call if I remember that. Yeah. Had a drop earlier, hit rock bottom, then came back at the end. Yeah. Yeah. He’s been much more productive. And so I think as a whole, uh, Jacob’s just, this offense seems to be much more in rhythm this year with him at quarterback. And McBride’s an animal. I I should have Yeah, he is. He’ll be all over the place tonight. and his energy is spectacular. He is mustwatch. Let’s go to the Dallas Cowboys side of this entire thing. You’re obviously a mile down the road with First Take. Cowboys fans feel however they feel in the moment. Uh what are their expectations for tonight? And how do you think Jerry World looks tonight against the Cardinals? Yeah, I mean this place would be rocking tonight. Um I think the expectations are almost every game they have to go score 38 to 40 to win. I mean, Arizona’s going to control this game from an offensive perspective. And so, if you’re Dak and this offense, the challenge against Arizona’s defense with Jonathan Ganon kind of their head coach and defensive play caller is like you often don’t necessarily know what you’re going to get. This is one of the defenses in the NFL that has like you don’t necessarily have um a consistency from guys. Guys will often be where they’re not supposed to be. And you can’t as a quarterback get to line of scrimmage and be like, I know it’s cover three or I know it’s cover two. You’re kind of looking at it going, I don’t know if this is two or three or is it invert or there are they is there safety in the middle field or is he on the backside hash? And so there it’s a very unorthodox coverage unit. Uh Buddha Baker is a safety that um you know I call them liars. They just do things you’re not supposed to do and so there’ll be some good matchups on the perimeter. Um, but I think the middle of the field is going to be a huge story line tonight. Can Arizona confuse Dallas a little bit with some of their unique coverages? Okay, so it sounds like you like Arizona. You said that at the beginning. I’ll be excited to watch NFL Live when you add in some more uh film for your argument.

  1. is there any NFL player in history who should have stuck with baseball more than kyler murray? sure he made millions fleecing the cardinals but he could have made a lot in baseball without silly expectations like watching game film lol.

  2. Kyler was done when that story came out about him knowing more about video games than his own playbook. Imagine being able to skate by and make millions off of athletic talent alone. Doesnt know the first thing aboyt being a successful nfl qb but so damn athletically talented, he was able to fool
    everybody this long 😂

  3. Kyler should have gone into the MLB like he was originally drafted to play. Cardinals should looking into picking up Fernando Mendoza from Indiana. Guy would be an amazing fit there and he would sell a ton of merch. He throwing to Harrison Jr would be some good ball play.

  4. I was hoping ky would be good under a Sean Payton. But then that new Call of duty got announced and realized he could have any coach and still be trash.

  5. Question, genuinely answer without bias. Take Kyler out the equation, What good QBs around the league winning with a roster built like the cards. Dallas? No Washington? No. Bengals, no (and Joe burrow is in the hospital for the third time). Texans? No… Tampa had been struggling with their weapons out. There's literally no evidence that supports qbs winning and playing consistently well with bad teams. Kyler is a two time pro bowler and mvp candidate Whether yall like it or not.

  6. I wanted Kyler Murray gone for at least 4 to 5 years… It is time!! I also feel the coaching staff needs to go!! Maybe keep the defensive coordinator… But he needs to do better in fourth quarters… Other than that.. get rid of head coach and offensive coordinator!!

  7. Kyler Murray is done in Arizona, and he's not going to want to stay on the team. After being the QB1 and then being benched. For the rest of the season. He might even be willing take a 10 to 15 percent pay cut. Just to be traded to another team. I don't know but we'll see.

  8. TRADE KYLER. MAYBE HE WAS GOOD IN COLLEGE, BUT NOT IN THE NFL. SO THEY SAY HIS STATS WERE HIGH, HIS STATS ARE POOR IN THE WINS VS LOSSES. HE KEEPS THROWING TO THE TE THAT IS WAITING NEAR HIM BECAUSE HE CAN NOT SEE DOWNFIELD. SHORTY
