“I Feel like Something Big” Trade(s) Brewing for Patriots? #NFL Deadline at 4PM ||The Greg Hill Show
is NFL trade deadline day and we will know by 400 pm this afternoon how far in on this season the New England Patriots are. And I for one, as I said yesterday during my lead, I am begging them, pleading with them to be allin. Please do something of significance today. Can I can I say something though because I was thinking about it after we talked with Varable yesterday and I do feel much different than I do after a Red Sox trade deadline where we say okay you know him bloom and Craig I mean Craig Brezlo uh like they’re not in it this year like they’re not in it because they didn’t make any moves like if the Patriots don’t make any moves for the trade deadline I don’t necessarily sit back and say yeah they’re not all in this year I I I take it as Mike Vrabel feels like he can do it with the team he’s got. I just I I wouldn’t give up the way I do at a Red Sox trade deadline. Why? They’re the same thing. I understand they’re the same thing, but the teams are so vastly different. Well, no, they’re the teams are because if you look at the Red Sox trades or non-trades over the past several years, I’m saying talent on the teams are so vastly different. Well, I’m saying first half of the season, they both were in really good positions. I mean, the Red Sox were Yeah. Yeah. One one season they weren’t in great one season they were 10 games above. I’m talking about last season. Last season, weren’t they pretty good at the Well, I think Courtney, I’m not going to speak for you, but I the the Red Sox last season were never the number one team in the American League. Right. Right now, the Patriots are the number one team tied with, you know, depending on the tiebreaker, with the Colts and the Broncos. So, that is different. If the Red Sox were leading the American League in wins at the trade deadline as opposed to being in third place in the American League East, it may have been slightly different. I als I also Curtis, you’re 100% right and thank you for explaining that better than I could have, but I just don’t have that same feeling of they have to do something to prove to me that they’re all in this season. I don’t know why. It’s just the way in which Mike Greyel speaks about it. I trust whatever decisions he he wants to make. Yeah, I guess you’d have to tell me why they wouldn’t be. And and Mike Rabel was on this show yesterday. By the way, couple dialogue setters, uh, global dialogue setters during that interview yesterday, which we will get to at some point, I’m sure. But you’d have to tell me why they aren’t in because Mike Vrabel was on this show yesterday saying he has zero concern about adding somebody even if that somebody is a potential uh troublemaker adding somebody to the locker room. He’s not concerned about that. They have all the all the room in the world when it comes to the cap. And so I I you’d have to tell me I understand what you’re saying, but you’d have to tell me why they would not be allin. Why if you can, right? And and again, I you know, Vable yesterday on the show, Mike Vel kind of couched it again with as long as he added in, you know, as long as they can help in the future. Like I mean, I I understand the future, but you’re not guaranteed a future. And you are guaranteed this year that you are a playoff team and you are guaranteed at some point to run in I mean maybe not guaranteed here comes the jinx but you may run into an injury issue. You are you’re wondering what the situation is going to be for this week with Booty. So and you don’t have a ton of depth on the roster. I just think you have an opportunity that is right smack dab in front of you and you you ought to invest and you ought to go. Well, the way I look at it, Courtney, is like this, right? And this is where the way I compare it to the Red Sox at the trade deadline. You’re competing for a playoff spot. You’re not out of it, right? Yeah. The Red Sox, I mean, the Patriots are in first place. The Red Sox weren’t, but both teams are competing for a playoff spot. and both teams first half of the season you’d go, “Oh, this team has a chance to compete for a playoff spot.” So, my comparison to the Red Sox is if you’re a playoff contender, why wouldn’t you add to a team that could potentially put you over the hump and get you to the next level? And that’s where I make the comparison. The Red Sox didn’t add and it kind of came back to bite them in the butt, the butt the, you know, past couple of seasons. And I’m not saying it’s going to happen with the Patriots. I’m just saying when I look at this team where they’re going to be during the trade deadline, they’re going to be a playoff contender. Yeah, they are. And if you look at the other playoff contenders, they’re adding I think the Eagles added I saw um did the Ravens add a D or did they trade a defensive lineman? I I I didn’t No, they I think they added one from Tennessee. Correct. They added um Jones, Dearest Jones. Right. And so granted, they might not be in the mix right now, but obviously their expectations are we’d like to be in the mix, but at the Red Sox trade deadline. Yeah. When they don’t do anything, the conversation we always have is this this front office does not trust the team in front of them. They don’t think that this team in front of them can make it all the way. So, they’re not making any moves. That’s been the conversation we’ve been having. If there is no movement for the Patriots today at the trade deadline, I do not think Elliot Wolf, Mike Vrabel, anybody else that has a say when it comes to trades that they could or couldn’t make don’t believe in this team that they have in front of them. No. Yeah. Okay. I I think Right. But I don’t think the Red Sox, not that they not that they didn’t believe, that’s revisionist history. Yeah. No, no, no. Because I always I was I’ve always said this. If you’re a playoff contender, whether it’s the Socks, the Celtics, the Bruins, the Patriots, at the trade deadline, your job as an organization is maybe you don’t think that you can win a championship, but your job should be like, if we add a piece, will this help us in the postseason? So, I don’t when I look at this team, does Vel and those guys believe that they can win? Yeah, absolutely. But you traded away a defensive end and I’m talking about that position. Uh Greg brought up Keshan Booty. We don’t know what the injury is is with his hamstring. So maybe that affects him. So maybe you need wide receiver help. I just wouldn’t understand why you wouldn’t make a move. Yeah. My thing though is the the biggest difference between the Red Sox and the Patriots is that people trust Vrabel as the front-facing guy and they don’t trust the Red Sox as much. Yeah. So, what the Patriots is are whatever they do, there’s such a feeling of genuine gratitude and support for the fact that Vrabel’s the head coach and they’re seven and two. I would also but I think Greg like looking at the Red Sox trade deadline, it wasn’t that they didn’t get Joe Ryan, which would have been great. It was that they failed to get depth on a team that they knew was going to be young and potentially not the same at the end of the year. And that’s what killed them. And the Patriots, you said it, they are thin and they’ve been incredibly healthy, which is great, knock on wood, but you cannot you cannot think that that is going to extend deep into the season, especially with young guys in key spots. So why wouldn’t you at least acquire guys? Again, the other thing though, like if they got Hendrickson, right, he’s a free agent at the end of the year. Yeah. So, if Hendrickson plays great and you trade a second round pick for him, then you can franchise him and get a pick back and trade him, like it’s win-win. Yeah. Well, we will find out in in in 10 hours or less what their intention is. And so, and speaking of the Red Sox, it would appear that Alex Bregman has officially opted out. Yeah. And we’ll see what free agency looks like for him. So he he must feel like he can make more than $40 million a year some some somewhere else. So yeah, we’ve all we saw that one coming, right? You know. Well, yeah, we saw Well, I I don’t know that I saw it coming. I mean, the man told me over and over again how much he loved it here. I So did Kyrie. I I But I take these people at their word. Never take them at their word, Greg. Call me a a naive fool. I I naive fool. But when they say I when they say I love I love the city. I love mentoring the young guys. I love we were right there this last season when when maybe his wife doesn’t like the Harvard program. Could be could be that maybe they don’t like the clam chowder. I don’t that’s been an issue in the past. I don’t I just I mean everybody loves the city until they want more money. I I’m I’m fine with if you as long as you’re going to spend that 40 million elsewhere like you know you you name the player whether it’s Pete Alonzo or whatever. As long as you’re spending the money then I’m okay with with Alex Bregman not being back but we can get to that this morning as well. Can we remove the Cohiba post on Instagram if since he opted out? Yes. Well, thankfully he only smoked half of the Cohiba. So, um, that’s half a Kohiba per year when it comes to the contract. You think he has a guy that gets rid of the cigar stench? Like, what? I think he has a room. It probably has a beautiful room where there’s a ventilation system and and such in there. Curtis, is the cigar worth the smell that stays on you for 12 hours? I don’t know. Are you are you suggest are you suggesting that Linda is in bed early watching Real Housewives of Los Angeles and John and John comes to bed with uh wreaking of cigars? I I high I don’t think so. I highly doubt that goes on in that takes a full shower. I highly doubt so. And you’re also saying something happens that I doubt but I don’t want to go down that road. Some guys love the stogies. Uh,
Happy NFL trade deadline day! Greg is begging for a move! Are the Patriots all in? Do the Patriots have enough to make a run as is? #nfl #trade #trending #viral #fyp
Wiggy: “I feel like something big” Patriots have the cash and picks to make a big move. Curtis: “Don’t mortgage this season because of the future” Something big brewing???

We would have zero draft picks if wiggy was running the team
Stick to eating sandwiches dude
8:13 "So did Kyrie" 🤣lmao WIgg
40 million isn't enough ? This is a mental condition the wealthy have , sick ….
We need to go after miles garrett
We do this every year and nothing happens let’s all get ready for another episode of “what if “
can wiggy stfu. bro gets dumber every day
This will be one of the great What if years when we see they make no moves and saying they want to “build it the right way”.
If the Pats could make one move, it would be edge. I don't see them going all in on Myles Garrett, but they might be able to put something together to get her for Trey Hendrickson. I'm not sure they'll make any move, unfortunately.
Baseball and Football are too different. The Draft picks in Football are much more valuable. Vrable has a plan and they will stick to it
Look i say built-up slowly for a lifetime not short term relationship keep it responsible just get guys who want to play hard and be apart of something great coming very soon idc if we dont move but get a guy here are too but move responsible not what we think our team need i trust the process plan going forward we will be great i see it our superstars are coming ppl we definitely have something special what we have now but i do believe a edge guy are a WR / RB could help not hurt depending who we require going inn on…the person is definitely gone make a difference to…my opinion as a fan
We need a WR and a Edge ,we should go all in for Garrett or at least risk some Draft picks for Hendrickson, even though hes 30 ,he could give us good 3 years and probably we could get a high draft pick on his last year of contract if …if its a 4years contract
If they do NOTHING they aren't in. You Don't need a big trade. But there needs to be some smart strategic upgrades. BADLY need Edge depth. Trade a 6 (we have like a million) for Arnold Ebiketie and a 7. He's been on the market forever. Trade a 6 for Zamir White, the 4th RB on Vegas. Sign Asante Samuel Jr for just plain money. That gives you needed depth and doesnt sacrifice a damn thing in the future
Philly has been busy what a G.M. Howard Roseman is.
Let’s be honest NE has played a very easy schedule. NE has beaten one good team. No hate but they are not a SB team. Let’s build depth.
I Agree Greg Do Something Significant RB Edge And Maybe Safety. You Can't Predict Next Year.
They can beat any team at this time so one piece could make all the difference!!!
It’s also who will trade with us, and what they want for picks and $…
Either trade for an immediate impact player Myles Garrett or AJ Brown.
If not save your picks for young players
The only other depth player I would be in onis Jacobi Meyers. Hear me out he has been fantastic in Josh's system both when I NE and when in Vegas. If they could give almost nothing for him steal him away and let Josh have one more toy.
Trey Hendrickson has a hip injury which edge rushers need badly. He has already reinjured it right after making it back on the field. And is now missing more games.
Trey himself said "this is new territory for him". Which tells me it aiy a small injury like the bumps and bruises linemen normally get.
So please don't give draft picks for an injured player
I don’t want a trade that disrupts the locker room the Pats have. AJ Brown isn’t someone I want given his attitude problems on a team that won the Super Bowl and is looking to go back to another. Nothing will make that man happy.
Myles Garrett costs too much and the Browns pride is mixed into his signing, so he’d cost more than Parson. Only player out there I see who is a big name and could be worth it is Trey Hendrickson if he’s willing to sign an extension. Great locker room guy at a position of need who will be a FA next season as it stands, so his cost should be slightly depressed.
We’ll see though. I think it’s a lot more likely they trade 6th and 7th round picks for depth help.
The guy who kept going on about the Red Sox literally could not just drop it and accept it for what it was God damn lmfao
You have four years to make a serious loaded roster around your rookie deal QB. See seahawks w russell wilson or bengals with burrow. Dont be the Giants with Daniel Jones !!!
No. talent on the sox and the pats aren't so different the pats record is disguising the record 1 and 2 imagine real offensive weapons added 😮
I still expect disappointment.
Elliot Wolfe is as all in as the cowboys during the off-season
