INSTANT REACTION: C’s show ‘no killer instinct’ in ‘INEXCUSABLE’ loss at home to the Jazz

Welcome to Celtics postgame live. The C’s fall to the Utah Jazz 105 to 103 in the final moments, final seconds. Hey everybody, Caleb Burton, Chris Forsber, Eddie House with you. Guys, we did not foresee this happening whatsoever. A matter of fact, Chris, I mean, just talking about keys to the game. Eddie, you were talking about doing, you know, the simple winning things and then Chris, yours was, hey, let’s get the boot using the Uncle Phil, you know, reference and this was the last thing that happened. What are your Where do you even start here? Yeah, I just start with like inexcusable. That’s a team that lost by 20some points on the first night of a backtoback last night in Charlotte who should have been out of gas at the finish line. Instead, they just totally dominate the third quarter. You offered no resistance. The three-point shot starts lacking. Like, I don’t want to hear anything about the trip. Like, yeah, that happened, but the Celtics stumbled their way throughout that entire fourth quarter. It’s just inexcusable that you don’t have the energy. You don’t make the plays down the stretch. And even that last look, like I know they’re trying desperately after not getting JB the final shot against Philly to get him a look there, but I’m not even sure he would have had time to turn and catch and shoot and and and or at least would have had a good shot there. So, I don’t know, just lacking all around and it feels I keep going back to it. Inexcusable coming off the rest and not taking advantage of a team playing on the second night of a backtoback. Yeah, we had opportunity to really put our foot on their neck and and get them out of there. uh they were looking like a team that was ready to kind of give up. And I said this early in the pre pregame. I said they’re a young team. They’re gonna be hungry. So if you don’t take care of them early, you’re gonna be in for a dog fight late. And that’s exactly what they were in for. And the one thing that I look at, we just don’t have a killer instinct right now. We don’t we when we get team down, it’s somehow someway we always allow them back. And really what I think also, I said this at halftime, we needed more paint touches. That three-point shot ain’t going in. I don’t care if it’s a wide open shot or not, man. Crack them off the dribble. Get another paint touch. Spray that thing back out. Get another paint touch. Get them in rotation. I like when we play out of random more so than when we’re trying to run sets. I don’t feel like our spacing is great. Number one, I don’t feel like I I just feel all the way around. I just feel like we we we’re lacking in so many different ways. We’re deficient in so many different things right now offensively. And a lot of it is the mental of okay, three ain’t falling. Let’s change up what we got to do. But we continue to shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot until we shot oursel out to the game. Yeah. You mentioned the paint touches since the half 54 to 40. They lost that battle. Then the three-point shot selection here tonight and overall 11 of 51. But here is the standing for the Celtics right now at home. You know that they lost to the Rockets and that was a more realistic loss, right? But this one tonight, 105 to 103. They got one more at home before they hit the road on Friday in Orlando. So they got one more against the Wizards. Let’s welcome Drew and Scallard fellas to the conversation. Guys, what do you make of that ending? I know you could argue the Jaylen Brown miss call, no call on the trip there, but ultimately for the Celtics to even be in this situation is kind of jarring to say the least. Yeah, Kayla, there’s no argument that was a foul. But Forsber is right that that’s not what you point the finger at in this game. I mean, it’s it’s pretty shocking to me. The Jazz were in Charlotte last night. They were down 28 at halftime. The Hornets didn’t have LaMelo Ball or Brandon Miller. I mean, that’s what we’re talking about. It’s a different game, but you’re on a backtoback here in Boston. It’s just very surprising, Scott. Coming into this game, I thought if there’s one thing where the Jazz could exploit the Celtics, it’s the offensive glass. But no, Walker Kesler, you’re not as worried about that. That’s what ended up doing them in in this game. And that and the horrendous shooting when if you use the era, let’s use the 53 attempt era. The lowest we’ve ever made was 14. Tonight we made 11. So, you know, we got a lot of good threes. We just weren’t knocking them down. But the problem is like, okay, we all know make shots, miss shots, all that. But you can’t let it affect the other side of it. And I just thought we didn’t have a lot of energy. Not every player every possession, but one player on specific uh possessions that cost us the game. Yeah, the Jazz shot 65% from the floor in the second half. And you talk about that all the time, Scout. All it takes is one or all it takes is one guy giving 95 instead of 100%. And that’s how you lose. Margins are small. Yeah, really small. Um lot the Celtics do a lot of good basketball things, but it does come down to results in the NBA. It does come down to making shots. It does come down to getting defensive rebounds. It does come down to communicating on your pick and roll coverage. And those things today, I don’t think they they were happening at a high level. Do you agree with Eddie that they got two three happy even though a lot of them were good shots? Yeah. I mean, I I think there’s a balance to that. If you can do it and not let it affect your defense, it’s fine. But like it did affect them in the third quarter. our defense maybe the worst half of defense all year. So, we’ve had some really good teams and we battled, but today the second half defense was atrocious. Yeah. And we’ve seen that unfortunately, you know, several times throughout the last couple of seasons. The difference is, you know, the margin for error is just a lot smaller for this team where if you miss shots, it affects the defense and and a lot of the times the Celtics get away with that, Kayla. Tonight, they did not. And this is a this is a surprising one for sure. Yeah. Crazy to think that the Celtics had that 14-2 lead and then this is coming becoming a common trend where they have that lead and then they let it go lose grip as they did here tonight taking the loss 105 to 103. Three.

Chris Forsberg and Eddie House join Kayla Burton to offer instant reaction and analysis following the Boston Celtics’ shocking 105-103 loss to the Utah Jazz at TD Garden. Then, Brian Scalabrine and Drew Carter join from courtside to offer their thoughts on the loss. Boston led by 10 points at halftime, but a disastrous third quarter meant the C’s had to battle back from 10 points down late in the game just to give themselves a chance, ultimately to no avail as the Celtics fall to 3-5 on the year.

  2. joe mazzulla exhibits all of the characteristics of a mob hand. Not only having grown up around it, but his convenient, self-serving and parasitic relationship with Jayson Tatum. Seeked out Tatum, attached himself to Tatum to open the door for himself, and capitalized on it, just like it goes down in college gambling. Jayson Tatum played college basketball at a top program and was one of the top 3 players in the country, what does Jayson Tatum need joe mazzula for… Then, down the line, manipulated a heyseed that doesnt know any better, Brad Stevens, to give him what he wants.

'Brad, Have you though about replacing joe'

    'No, we love joe".

"Brad, do you think joe is qualified to be head coach of an NBA team".

    "No,we love joe".

"Brad, did you have any reservation about giving joe this contract".

    "No, we love joe".

"Brad there are coaches and even players with actual NBA experience that you could have hired for this job, why didnt you even just consider any of them when this convenient opening became available."

    "No, we love joe."

"Brad, if you feel you cant answer honestly because you fear retaliation against you and those close to you if you do, blink during your response to this question….Brad, do you think joe mazzulla is a creepy, slimmy, know nothing, that has infiltrated this organization for the benefit of himself, his family, and his "family".

"No, We (Wink) love joe". (WINk)(WINK)(WINK)(WINK!)

Brad Stevens NEVER answers a joe mazzulla question directly. NEVER.

And in case you havent noticed, every other coach in town is "Vrable", or 'Belichick", or "Sturm", or "Cora". But Joe Mazzulla is "Joe".

Its a psychological trick by the organization and the media to humanize him to you. Nobody is better at it than the Celtics as an organization and 98.5 the sports hub. NOBODY.

Celtics needed a reason to get rid of Udoka to be able to move Mazzulla into the head coaches job. They chose affair because an affair is something that would not be investigated by an outside party, furthermore, they choose that it occurred with a Celtics employee to keep it even more inhouse and a situation they would handle themselves without the prying eyes of an outside investigation. You bet they handled it inhouse. Millons

of people are having affairs right now as I type this. None of them are going to be fired from thier jobs because of it. This was handled INHOUSE because it needed to be and it involved consultation with, if not orchestrated through, an attorney who would know what to call something so that it wouldnt be investigated by people they didnt want looking at it.

Michael Felger, the guy from Wisconsin, isnt an organized crime expert so his analysis of "I dont think thats whats going on" means exactly d*ck, or pen*s, if you prefer. Michael Felger, in his own words, "is running a business" from 2-6 weekdays and that business is manipulating the minds of listeners to his best interests and the benefit or 98.5 the sports hub, and to the courtesy of rhode islander, jim lauth.

Felger is the only guy that has EVER said joe mazzulla is a "numbers guy" or an "analyst". You know, 'numbers guy" has a strong connotation in the organized crime world. Felger is the only guy that has ever said it.

The Celtics, themselves, have never described joe mazzulla as a 'numbers guy" or an "analyst". Incidentally, they've never even described joe mazzulla as a "hot young coaching prospect", or "coach in waiting" as proven by his previous job in the 3rd row. None of the other, media, be it written, spoken, or through mental telepathy have ever described joe mazzulla as a "numbers guy" or an "analyst".

Even joe mazzulla, himself, has never described himself as a "numbers guy' or an "analyst" Nothing in joe mazzulla past, present, or future, indicate he's ever been a 'numbers guy' or "analytical". Neither his school transcrips, resume, or his hobbies include ANYTHING that indicate, in any way,

that joe mazzulla is a "numbers guy" or analytical. He did however, beat a female and piss in public as was appropriately handled by the West Virginia Police, But dont think this was isolated or prejudicial…. just because rhode island refuse to charge mazzulla for the things he's done there doesnt mean it shouldnt have been.

So, why then is Michael Felger, from Wisconsin, the only guy that says joe mazzulla is a "numbers guy' or "analytical" and shoots down, cuts off, and changes the subject of anybody with any other possibility…..Just like Brad Stevens, the guy from Indiana, refuses to admit what joe mazzulla really is and how he got to where he is.

I already answered it for you.

Incidentally, while we're on the subject, Felger, you like to gamble a bit, dont ya. Maybe more than a bit. And Im just about to call bullsh*t on your whole "fell off a bicycle and wacked my neck on the handle bar in Nantucket" story. Im starting to think that you may have been visited, say by some of joe mazzulla's "associates', and not associate head coaches, to make sure you ' straighten out' and dont stir the pot, keep mazzulla's names clean out of your mouth.mazzullas only other mouthpiece in town is former Patriots quaterback, and media member at 985 the sports hubs, Scott Zolac, who never fails to play grabass with mazzulla, go out to dinner with him, and text him on a frequent basis……and wouldnt you know it….scott zolac isnt from New England either, he's from Pennsylvania. I see a pattern here.

Want more…when Bill Chisholm and his wife were interviewed courtside after the purchase of the team, the first thing his wife gleefully exclaimed was "we love joe mazzulla". You just paid Billions of dollars to buy a team, and the first think you're going to talk about is the coach…..Know why….BECAUSE KEEPING JOE MAZZULLA AS HEAD COACH WAS A PRE-REQUISIT TO BEING ALLOWED TO BUY THE TEAM AND NO OTHER BUYER WOULD AGREE TO IT…..except chisholm. So they thought they got a deal by agreeing to it and getting the team because of it.

Why is joe mazzulla being kept as head coach a pre-requisite to a billions of dollars basketball team purchase……

Because wyc grousbeck is involved in this brad stevens/joe mazzulla situation and doesnt care how the team wins….but his father Irv Grousbeck is a well-respected businessman and more importantly, a well-respected professor at one of the worlds most prestigious universities and does care how the team wins and doesnt want joe mazzula or whats going on to reflect on him. So, he put the team up for sale.

Even the team that owns the building the Celtics play in refuses to deal with mazzulla while he's still greeted with open arms for some reason by the other two professional franchises that matter in town. That should tell you all you need to know.

and remember what I said. THE TEAM THAT OWNS THE BUILDING.

Now this is going to instigate people wearing green because they are going to say "OH YEAH, SO WHAT, WE ARE GOING TO BUILD OUR OWN ARENA!!!"

Oh yeah? Really? You Are? OK. Let look at that, in fact, I'll use something called "analysis" to do so. You may have learned about it up top:

Your team plays around 80 games a season. With playoffs, you probably play about 90 or so. Total. Only half of those are at home. So its about 45ish games.

You think your owner is going to spend BILLIONS of dollars to finance a new arena for your corrupt basketball team to play 45 games a year in it….what about the other 320 days a year…who's paying those bills…

So you're not really building a "Basketball Only" arena. Youre building an "ANYTHING BUT BASKETBALL WITH BASKETBALL MIXED IN ARENA" because you have to fill most of those other 320 days a year with events to pay the bills or

you're going bankrupt. YOU'RE ALREADY DOING THAT AT A CHEAPER PRICE FOR RESIDENCY And if you dont think so, you're new owner is still scrapping pennies together to just pay for the team….who's paying the BILLIONS for the arena…

Good luck with that. You're not building anything. And you have a better chance of the team relocating to a new city in a another state than building a new basketball-only arena in Boston.

Seeing things in green doesnt solve problems. Reality does.

  3. Celtics Mazzula JB suck! Mazzula doesn't know how to manage games, JB is glorified diva busy with building Oakland California and everything else except basketball! For 300 million Max contract!

  4. 3 has been Joe mazulla's downfall from day one! Lets be honest…..we lost to the knicks last year twice (in the playoffs) because we kept shooting, Joe didnt change anything!!

  5. The Celtics need to make some changes to the Lineup by adding 1 Center and 1 Power Forward. Boston is very deficient in Rebounding..I mean it’s FREAKING RIDICULOUS HOW BAD THEY ARE! I have some players in mind that are bangers and rebounders…MO MAMBA, CHRISTIAN WOOD & MOSES BROWN all 3 are CENTERS…and good serviceable CENTERS that gives you size and can seize that ball off the rim. The Celtics are playing a style of ball they think they can win with without strong rebounding 🤦🏾‍♂️Brad S. and Joe Mazula are FREAKING CRAZY. CUT SOME DEAD WEIGHT OFF THE BENCH AND ADD SOME SEIZE MAN.

  6. It's a bit of a shame that we're ignoring blatant poor officiating simply because the Celtics struggled against a young but not so good team. That being said, tanking for a lottery pick
