Austin Corbett talks offensive line adjustments | Carolina Panthers

like it is part of it but like what this offensive line has been through again it’s the NFL and you expect things like that but just the challenges that you guys have faced the depth that you came in with how sort of prepared are you as a unit to weather this 100% um I think that’s exactly what the front office did with keeping us all here of it’s a brutal sport especially being in the trenches like things happen and so to be able to keep the same personnel keep the same people keep that communication alive just makes it easy and unfortunately fortunately we know we’re in this situation of having to move pieces around and so we’re able to step in and just go get it done like it’s another day’s work. Austin, in your experience, how unusual is it to move those pieces around and have so many familiar pieces? Uh not familiar at all. It’s a lot of the times when you start racking up injuries, like you’re signing guys off practice squads, right? Making trades, kind of doing that thing. And so for pieces just to be able to come in here who we’ve played with many games before, we had many reps together like it’s tremendous and truly just a credit to this front office of getting that done. Dave told us this week that or strongly suggested that he going to play Rico a little more, but he also talked about kind of the dynamics of a decision like that given Chuba standing in this locker room and his ability. Do you feel that to just, you know, at in in particular at that position since that’s what we’re talking about? Uh, I mean, it’s obviously like the money talks most of the time in this league, right? But when you start getting down to it, like whoever’s out there has to make plays and um when you go out there, whoever’s calling the same thing on the offensive line, it just kind of who’s who’s the five out there. Like it doesn’t matter who it is. It doesn’t matter what money is being made at that point. Like it’s for the betterment of the team. we’re doing everything we can and Chuba completely understands that too and like he wants this team to succeed as much as anyone if not more. Like he’s so passionate about this team and um it’s just part of this, you know, it’s just that’s where we are in this moment. That’s just what it is. That’s how this game works. Um same thing in life, like things don’t go your way all the time. It’s part of it. So you figure it out. You do what’s best for the team and you keep rolling. Back to the shuffling. Um Brady was such I think he played most position on the offensive line to have somebody that was that versatile in a time when you guys really needed it and obviously you lose him but just how how important was he to this offensive line? Incredible. I mean he’s played six positions, right? You can’t forget about big tight end. He he did it all. Um I mean it’s incredible the things that he was able to do. He’s a start at every position in the NFL um on the line and that’s rare. uh very few guys have done that in their career and so like he did that and was able just to step in there and just get it done and never complained about it and um so just just a bummer. Um this this game is not fair by any means and um he’s going to be missed. It’s tough and you know it’s just where we are and it’s the next man up. That idea that nobody’s complain like that’s a very offensive line thing to say just the idea of sort of you know just continuing to work and work and work. How is that ingrained in this offense? because it’s every offensive line you’re a part of and good ones at least, right? Like offensive line in a nutshell sucks. We do all the work, right? We do everything and we do our jobs, we get no praise. And that’s honestly how we like it. Like that’s fine. We want all those skinny guys to run around, get all their touchdowns, get all their yards, do all that. Like that’s how offensive line should be. So like that’s just that mentality that you carry as an offensive lineman just like it sucks. Like who cares? Like you got to go do your job. You got to do it at a high level. And at the end of the day, like it doesn’t matter. Couple more, please. Uh early early in my football career, you I was a running back my first year when I was seven and then uh didn’t ever touch the ball again after that. And so it’s just it’s been a part of me for a long time in football. [Music]

Corbett spoke on the new additions to the offensive line as the team prepares for Green Bay.
