see this guy on IG reels all the time. would love to see more to see a pros POV
Damn, anyone need a SS?
Not sure how many players would love playing with a Go Pro slapped to their forehead.
How intrusive is the gear? I can’t imagine people whose multimillion dollar contracts that depend on their performance would want anything of any size, but man does it look neat.
Dude that DP got me hype
wow, this made me realize that I wasnt as good as I thought I was. I really didnt need that shit today op
JaredPlaysSports on IG btw. I see his reels all the time
I would beg for a quick mercy death if I had to play against this guy in softball lol
Yeah this would be super cool, but that would be 1 less opportunity to show the advertisements on the player’s jerseys per each replay
Would be fun in spring training
Buy a pair of Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses. Problem solved.
Have it in the all star game and in spring training.
Where does that end for you, though? Is there any point where you’re satisfied?
I would guess within 20 years we’ll see 4K cameras on players in all sports, if the networks decide that’s what they want to do.
Right now it’s probably too bulky to be comfortable for players.
Also, well akshually, a better title would be “Imagine cameras like this on MLB players”
I’ve had this thought for a while, action shots would make baseball more interesting for people to watch and it would improve viewership.
Maybe not necessarily attached to the players, but find a way to get better close up shots on the action.
What “style” of softball is this? Just slow pitch?
I ask because I was always terrified of the ball being whipped in there by kids with 0 control, but as an adult this pitching is definitely something I’d like + still get to field all the same.
Don’t give the national networks any ideas, next they’ll mic up the players throughout the whole game
Hard pass. For those of us who are prone to motion sickness, this is unwatchable. I have to look away when they show the video from the catcher cam or umpire cam.
No interest in this fisheyed angle
Probably next year. The meta oakleys with the center lens could be comfortable for a lot of players. I wonder if something with ai is allowed though
I feel like that day is coming.
Not GoPro necessarily, but the little Insta360 clip on cameras are certainly getting close.
This brings back memories of playing coed softball with friends. Loved those days. His outfield chase down had me immediately thinking “Gonna have to slide for that one.” and he didn’t disappoint.
I feel like this would be pretty inconvenient for the players at least at first glance.
I do think they should put cameras in the catcher’s helmet though, that would be so much fun and it wouldn’t add any new gear and probably wouldn’t add much weight to what they already wear.
No thanks I just got carsick and barfed on my laptop
cricket helmets allow for easier installation of Go Pro-style cams so there’s some examples over there, although it’s not so much in vogue anymore
The amount of ads they’d slather all over these shots would make it cease to be worth it.
Me when the go pro shows the scouting reports lol
Oh man I would watch the hell out of this. I really really would love to have this perspective available from any player and be able to watch the game from different positions.
For real I’d pay good money for this, if I had good money.
This guy’s videos always popup. He makes some crazy plays
We get it bro, you played JUCO.
Id probably be really dizzy
way cooler than those stupid (and dangerous) during-the-game interviews ESPN does
Curious, do other people’s leagues allow height on pitches like the first several plays? My league would probably call pitches half that high illegal.
Guys who gopro their rec league softball games take it way too seriously
Do we have to?
PCA vision
Eh why not just pitch the ball for real
OP, as third base, Matt Chapman, is that you?
Okay, but this actually goes hard 👏
Does this guy have a YouTube channel? These are pretty unique shots from the defense side.
Do you play in Los Angeles? These look like Balboa and Hjelte parks.
Dude needs to chillll
I broke my glasses doing this they were expensive
This guy’s crazy. Just barehanding shit left and right
Signal stealing camera, they’ll never allow it
This would be wicked
It will probably affect their game too much for regular season, maybe worth a try in spring training, for a few social media feeds
No.
I am also not a fan of the cameraman running on the field after a HR.
I never imagined the day something from my slow pitch softball league would make it to r/mlb
