NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Oilers – November 8, 2025

We’ve got a cacophony of stars gathered here tonight. McDavid, McKinnon, Edmonton, Colorado, and underway on hockey night in Canada. I’m Jack Michaels alongside Louis De Brasar. Weren’t free. Taves will hold his own. Lacking him behind the net. Pride off his stick, but McKinnon there. Taves send it over. Mar steps up. Snap shot. Score. And Colorado’s taken a one- nothing lead. Kale McCar with his fifth. I mean, he picks this bar perfectly. Good work in the corner to dig this out. It’s the top line. McKinnon with a quick little shovel pass up to Taz who under pressure makes a quick little pass over to Mar. That’s what gives him a couple of seconds to walk. Once he picks his spot, it’s the zinger. Quick little flick. Bam. Off the post and in. One- nothing Avalanche. But it’s the work down low in the corner, the work on the line by but a man after my own heart. He likes the outdoors and he was going to say he beats to his own drum. We’ve talked a few times about Here’s Mar Snapchat score. That’s two for Kale Mar again. Set up by Tavs. Two nothing Colorado. I don’t know if you’re going to find a similar goal back to back that Macar just scored. It’s from the same spot. Maybe even a little closer. It’s the lower hand. Watch him torque into the shaft here as he shoots this puck. Quick face off and I mean he just zips it. Elite shooting defenseman. He’s thinking shot the entire time and Taz boy was that ever a quick pass on the face off. Aggressive win back to Taz and he fires this over to McCarron crowd there. This line of Savo Howard and Tamasic all featuring players in their first year playing in the NHL. Here’s a quick chance. Quick save shot. Score game. Landiskog. No question Drury’s in. But does he have control when he brings this puck across the line is my question and I think that’s what they’re going to look at. Or is the puck outside the blue line there? At 405 the play was deemed to be offside. Therefore, we got so it hadn’t completely crossed. Well, you had it early, Louie, because you saw the look on McKinnon’s face. Yeah. Tosses to McKinnon. Laid onto the ice is Rosel. McKinnon under pressure. Tried to center. Deflected. March. A tremendous stop on Lined by Steuart. Skinner. By Skinner. A necessary one. Strong start here. This puck does bounce just for a second, but then it’s a beautiful pass over Mar once again activating right down into the zone. He finds Lackin for a one-time. I mean, Kelly staggered. Phelp forces it back through center. Molinsky over to Ashan. And now a dart up to Parker Kelly with Koulak back. Thrown around the boards. Brinley sees it giving way. A shot. Save. Rebound. Score. And there’s Gam Brinley with his second of the year. Sets us in motion. It’s just get this puck riveted around. You have to win the wall battles right here. Bartikov gets this puck. Strong play to get it back to the blue line. It’s a quick wrist through traffic that isn’t handled. That puck’s left over. Valinsky head up the whole way again. Look at the waves of traffic that fill in between. Right there. You can just see it all come together. It drops down as it raked loose. And here comes Josh Manson up to Ros Colton. Manson shot was blocked by Koulac. Manson carved it loose. Little battles being won right now by the Avalanche and it leads to a tip end from Jack Drury. Set up by Brett Burns, but Manson Louie in my mind helps set up this goal. Four nothing Colorado. Spend some time in the zone. But it’s a transitional play once again. Here’s the chance by Manson, but he stays with this puck in the corner. Again, don’t give up in the battle. Come up with it. That’s exactly what happens in that quick release. We’ve talked about it already in this game. A 40-year-old Brent Burns head up. He knows exactly where he’s shooting this. Drury just kind of funnels in between the hash marks. That one there, the last one by Mapani is his best save. Battling maintaining the zone. Molinsky a shot that deflected off Adam Henry. Bartikov in front. Deflected pass. Backhander score. Parker Kelly extends the lead to 5 nothing. Scoring down their lineup. You have to respect the top line, but this is just going to work. Watch these puck battles that are won by the Avalanches. They’re just finding the pucks in the offensive zone. And once they get it, there’s an identity here. They want to get pucks to the net. They want to have people funneling into places where this puck’s going to be. And that’s exactly what happens here. This pass isn’t converted. It goes off of a skate, but Parker Kelly’s right there to backhand this one home. Call it a bounce. They do have big tanks, but that’s a lot of time on the ice. Take as much time as you can here. McDavid beaten off the draw by Drew. Dry subtle a terrific keep. Crosses to McDavid. Shooting story. [Applause] Dry subtle holds the zone. McDavid converts. So important. And then it’s the quick play. Dric to McDavid. Walks down, picks his spot short side behan tried to bash it home, but Pickard was strong on the goal line. Tricidle will come off and so will McDavid as Cam Lar hustles it through the neutral zone. Already with two goals tonight. Using a one-time roll and a sliding stop made by Baker. Power play for Everton here after a great penalty kill. They survived it. Some great saves, great sticks. Have one power play goal. Looking for another. Here’s a breakaway short-handed. Parker Kelly waits back to score. 61 Colorado. A short-handed goal from Parker Kelly. To slow down. He takes a little look. This is just really aggressive off the face off and he just gets there. He got shot out of a cannon to get to that puck and he knew he was alone. Look at this. Took a little look as soon as he got the puck. Said, “Yeah, I have some time to make a move here.” And does he ever quick little look right there. He says, “Yep, I can slow down. Slam on the brakes.” Little fake, but he knew it would be a challenge. He expected it to be an exciting game and it has been for one team so far. Good job, Jean. It looked like Jared Benner knew you would be in the building tonight with that pocket square. Strong statement early in the season. Controlled and a quick shot flipped wide by Nan Hopkins who starts on a line with Henrik and Manapani. But Colorado a breakout in a twoon-one. McKinnon shooting and scoring. 71 Colorado. Nate McKinnon, his 11th, and he’s got a three-point night. The Avalanche are plus 11 in third period this year. It’s their best period of the game. Develops here as this puck gets chipped around. It’s Walman that pitches down and he’s not getting supported quick enough. Bam. It’s a twoonone with the two fastest guys on the ice. And Nathan McKinnon decides he’s just going to shoot this one. Good job to take the twoonone away. Not allow McKinnon to put this across to Nas, but he just picks short side. Molinsky stumbled down to inside guided toward Howard. Picked off and cleared. A good play by Colton. And then fresh out of the box comes Nate McKinnon charging in shooting and scoring. Nate McKinnon blistering one upstairs on Calvin Pickard. It’s his second goal of the period. Fourth point of the game. 81 Avalanche. This is the perfect timing for Nathan McKinnon. This puck just Thank you very much. And then I don’t know if there’s another player in the NHL that can shoot the puck off the fly like Nathan McKinnon. It is incredible. He keeps the feet pumping while he lets this go and it doesn’t take him a lot to get high velocity. Still playing with dry subtle booard across to McDavid. He’ll challenge Mar stays in front avoids the pick but McDavid backer and a tremendous left pad stop made by Wedgewood. His best of the night. Yeah, listen. There’s games like this though that you just There’s some great games that go right down to the wire. You fight right to the bitter seconds in the end. Short-handed chance coming for Henrik. Denied by Wedgewood. Spllayed out the right pad. Here’s the chance short-handed by Adam Henrik. Good stick on the entry. He’s the one that lodges it. Loose. Little flip pass by Boo Sharp. finds him and he goes for the deep extension with the right hand. Avalanche power play the only negative 0 for seven the night and one for 28 in their road games. Here’s a steal and quick Jason scoring is Jack Drury and that’s his second of the night. 91 Colorado a terrific save and then this one here just not stopped around but it’s up for grabs and it’s the for checking and aggression of the Avalanche once again coming downhill nice pass but it’ll remain 9-1 for the Avalanche in this one that’s your final Colorado behind four separate twogoal games wins and wins big in Edmonton the final score 91 for the Avalanche on hockey night in Canada. [Music]

Nathan MacKinnon had a four-point night, Devon Toews picked up three assists, while Cale Makar, Parker Kelly, and Jack Drury each scored twice as the Colorado Avalanche dominated the Edmonton Oilers, winning 9-1.

  1. What must Connor think now ?

Is this the team that he committed to win The Cup? Can they even get this year to play offs?

It looks catastrophic to Oil. They were slaugtered this night.

  2. Avs are going to the Finals from the West… Oilers are definitely not, unless they do something radical and get a trendy that can stop more pucks than these two sieves they have now lol.

  3. As an oilers fan there is no defending this game. We sucked. It would be 10-1 if Gabe didn’t have his goal called back. Offside goals are nothing but a lucky break for the team that gets the initial goal scored on them. Absolutely embarrassing effort by the team. Reminds me of the decade of darkness

  4. What's going on in Oil country?! This season is disappointing and this game is the cup on cake. Last season the team showed character, turned lost game in the last few period to a spectacular win. This season the team has no spirit, but for the all no quality in their lineup. Thinking Howard or philp or savoie or others are top level NHL is a huge fail. They are not good enough overall! There are no something good moments, but for all bad ones in defensive play. I miss Perry! It's also not the problem of the star players, drai shows a good season so far. Knobloch makes so many changes in the roster at every game that there will never become trust and chemistry between the players become true. He should send all these guys to Bakersfield and instead test a guy like samanski witg his size and skating. He should give others a rest so that they can think about what they are doing. Knobloch has to change the team, their attitude and bring it back on track to get a playoff spot!

  5. Три вещи на которые можно смотреть бесконечно: как горит огонь, как течёт вода, как громят Ойлерс…..

  6. "Bouchard is as well rounded a defenseman as Makar and Hughes" and "We have a good goaltending tandem" are the two biggest lies Oilers nation tell themselves. Bouchard has been particularly horrendous this year. I would be shocked if either he or Skinner make team Canada.
