  1. The NY Giant Organization isn’t a winning organization, that is the issue.

I am blessed to have witnessed 2 Super Bowl wins. Outside of those 2 years, getting blown out in 2000 Super Bowl, the team is typically bad. The best team in my lifetime unraveled when their star WR shot himself. Maybe the most NY Giants thing possible.

  2. Crazy, who would have thought Daboll isn’t a winner. One of the worst records of all time. Color me shocked.

  3. Daboll is never playing to win, he’s only ever playing to not lose, and he wonders why the Giants frequently only lose by one score

  4. I’ve seen the Giants win 3 super bowls in my lifetime so I’m happy about that but it feels like the Giants are in a losing spiral that will never end.

  5. It’s definitely plausible. My argument against this would be… for the ‘most part’ we’ve never really seen an OC turned HC have success without an elite DC. And we really don’t often see it the other way either. Josh McDaniels is clearly an elite QB developer, Brady had already been a winner sure when he arrived. But prior to 2006 when McDaniels got there, Brady had 16 game averages of 3600/25/13. In the 5 years following 4113/34/9 and in that span won his first 2 MVPs, 2 OPOY, 4 PBs and a CPOY.

People say he’s a bad HC, but he really never had much of a chance. His only solid DC he ever had was MIke Nolan his first year in Denver and the team went 8-8. Then Nolan got fired, Wink got hired, they sucked ass and everyone got dropped.

Hell, even Belichick in Cleveland had pretty shit offensive guys. It wasn’t until coming to New England and getting lucky to land Charlie Weis. The Jets had the 4th most yards and 5th most points under Weis in 1998, in 99 they slid to 19th in points, but it was after Testeverde got injured in Week 1 and they had to roll out a bunch of random no names at QB. Otherwise, he was a pretty elite OC in his time. And then he went to McDaniels in 2006. After taking a big step back in 2005 when Belichick took on playcalling duties himself and didn’t hire an OC. Look at just about any successful OC and they had a very good DC.

So I just disagree with the notion that you can see the offense is humming but he’s a bad coach because the defense isn’t… he needs to be able to rely on his DC to pull his own weight. But it seems like Bowen just gets all down in the dumps like fucking Eeyore and calls the same garbage defenses every week.

Daboll said there might be scheme changes moving forward, so I do wonder if Daboll finally is stepping in and realizing he clearly can’t rely on Bowen. Too little to late probably? But who knows, if they somehow come out this week and the defense is flying all over the place and Caleb looks lost? Maybe his issue is that he’s just too loyal to guys more so than he’s a bad coach. He does seem to have a pretty long track record in his 4 years here of giving guys a very long leash before giving up on them. At least when he can see they clearly want it.

  6. I have been saying this for two years now. Daboll plays to “not lose” regardless of the score. Red zone offense is horrible in terms of play calling. (DJ was also a victim of these bad calls.) He is a hothead, which is never a good sign, he has trouble multitasking, and his clock management skills are abysmal. He appears to be mentally overwhelmed at times.

In short, Tiki is right, Daboll does not know how to win.

  7. If you watched that broncos game last night and saw their offense against one of the worst defenses in the league with the raiders(literally one of the lowest turnover plays in the league outside of Giants) and it hasn’t clicked yet that coaching is the biggest problem here rn then idk what to tell you anymore or what you have been watching. A lot of losses has been straight up bad coaching, this year at least.

  8. Remember the titans game. He somehow peaked in game 1. Even then we got lucky they missed a FG

  9. Daboll has no composure. The team takes their cues from him. He’s constantly losing his mind over anything

  10. Tiki calling someone ‘not a winner’, is one of the most ironic things I’ve ever seen

  11. Looking for optimism anywhere I can. Remember when Tiki called out the team in 07 after his retirement? Things went pretty well after that

  12. Takes a loser to know a loser lol… Dabs will probably do enough to screw up our draft pick placement in the next draft

  13. I could have been a great coach with Josh Allen. He has done nothing to project he is good at anything but eating.

  14. Except the offense was awful for 2+ years until Jaxon Dart started playing. It’s not Daboll, it’s Dart.

  15. “Winner” status is one of the dumber lines of commentary that you see throughout sports media. Being a “winner” (or not) isn’t a cause, it’s an effect. Postulating that some coaches, players, or beer vendors have inherent “winner” or “non-winner” status is just lazy non-falsifiable blather that fills airtime without offering any actual insight into why the winning is or isn’t happening.

That said, I do think that there is something to what Tiki is saying, in spite of this unfortunate phrasing. I agree that Daboll is a smart football mind. He has definitely proven adept at scheming offenses to be more successful than one should expect, given some glaring talent holes. But he appears to be a shitty boss. He alienates staff, blames underlings when things go poorly, and does not appear to be particularly coolheaded in the face of adversity.

  16. I’m not sure he’s a good coach besides some elements of a QB coach maybe. He doesn’t have the creds as an OC either besides a few years with Josh Allen, who can make anyone look good, he took the offense entirely over for a large part with the Giants and it got worse and without Dart this was still an inept offense no matter which QB they had under center, all looked the same, with the exceptional game here and there.

Then Dart comes in with his elite improv ability because he’s the most athletic QB they have had, of course they are going to extend drives and make plays including in the RZ. You’re not going to tell me Dart comes in and all of a sudden Daboll is a good offensive coach, sell that shcitt to someone else.

Tiki trying to spin this, I suppose he has to but come on. He’s a good coach but just not a good HC, oh ok, no crap he’s not a good HC and maybe he’s good at something and that’s supposed to be some kind of saving grace or consolation prize, that’s exactly the problem, always has been and it’s not a small one either. All of these former players been sugar coating this for too long.

  17. Brian Daboll is the David Fizdale of the NFL

Their whole act is they’re the ultimate Player’s Coach… like they’re king of the Frat House and they want to party with the bros… Fizdale thinking he’s their BFF, Daboll thinking he’s their actual Cool Dad

Both coaches are complete ass when it comes to game planning, play calling, and in-game management of the clock, timeouts and other logical things that add up to winning ballgames
