Craig Berube | Post Game vs. Boston Bruins | November 08, 2025

Greg, how did you assess the performance tonight? Um, I thought three of the goals we ended up bringing the puck back in our zone. We didn’t need to. We could have just got it out, but they ended up scoring on three of them. Um, you know, I think we just I thought we didn’t execute well enough with the puck early on some of these plays. But, you know, I think we all got to be better, including the goalie. everybody. We didn’t didn’t execute well enough and uh made some you know for me it’s we we caused all them goals ourselves. Where’s your level of concern or frustration or whatever word you want to use for how inconsistent you guys can be? Like killers long night and Yeah. No, it’s frustrating. You know, it is. Um I’ve talked to you guys about it before. It’s frustrating. Hit on on Scott and also Bobby’s response to stuff. Yeah, I know. It’s a great response I thought by Bobby um sticking up for his teammate. I thought it was a head shot. I mean, I got to take a closer look at it, but um I will upper body right now. How serious is it? I don’t know yet. He won’t be playing tomorrow. What’s your sense of Starters right now? I mean, there’s a lot of good, but um I think inconsistent like our team. That’s what I see. Do you know who you’ll start tomorrow? Not yet. What why do you think the goalending has dipped compared to last year? Um combination I think I don’t feel we’re as tight defensively as we were last year. I do feel that. Um I think you know we there’s good stretches of it but not enough. Um some like you know the the last goal is just a turnover. I mean I don’t know what you want the goalie to do in that play. What stood out about Hillbe tonight coming in in a tough spot? He looked solid. I mean, he was pretty calm in there and made the saves, you know, um thought we defended better down the stretch like, you know, giving him the bad angle shots and things like that, but um he was fine for me. He looked good. You concerned all about Anony’s workload. Well, I think that’s part of it for sure, but it is what it is right now.

  1. The D is slow and can't break the puck out with any speed. The whole team is a turnover machine, the goaltending hasn't been as good as last year and has to be better. This is probably a middle of the pack team this year and could be sellers at the deadline.

  2. As usual, Boston out hit and out worked the leafs – and it wasn't even close in those departments. Nobody for the Leafs showed up to play a serious game, including Toronto's video review staff who somehow missed that Boston's 3rd goal was offside. Everyone in my household were screaming it was offside as they came in the zone. When they reviewed it we all assumed it was for the offside at first. Considering the officials reviewed the play to see if the puck crossed the line, Toronto's team had all that time to review it. How the hell did they miss that?! The sh!t should hit the fan on that one.

  3. This team is very consistent! They suck, and they suck the same way every game. Giveaways, poor passing, poor positions, 3 guys trying, different 3 guys every game. Is there no other way to enter the zone on a power play than the pass back time-wasting BS? Asking for a friend?

  4. A couple of goals that should of went in?😮❤❤We would have won.We'll get them next time.Had a funny feeling😮❤about Minten??Its just a matter😂of time with a trade😢Congrats on the goals❤🎉😊Mc The Man❤🎉😊Hope everybodys ok❤

  5. Auston Matthews, why do u play hockey? Cuz ur good at it? So play men’s league. NHL is WILL plus Skill…where is his fire, passion, whatever u want to call it. Am I the only one who thinks this guy isn’t Captain material. He is so nonchalant, so “nothing ever pisses me off”, it’s fucking enough. Grow a pair of Balls and give a shit. So tired of seeing our captain not even sweating 3/4 thru the game. Seriously losing soooo much respect for him. Scoring goals is super hard in NHL, I get it, but being Captain of NHL team, let alone the fuckin Maple Leafs. Give a shit Auston…WE DO!!!….we sacrifice our money which we earn working…NOT PLAYING A GAME….what does Auston Matthews sacrifice? Honestly….what?

  6. A winnable game pissed away through weak-assed turnovers in the D-zone, but frankly in all zones. Lorentz & Joshua with egregious pass whiffs leading directly to goals. The 3rd goal was clearly offside, so how did the Leaf 'eyes-in-the-sky' duo manage to miss it? They're normally dialed right in. Stolarz looked weak on all 4 goals, but in particular the jam plays from Eyssimont & Pastrnak. You're 6' 5" & 240 lbs. No one should beat you with pucks flat on the ice in that close. Just not good enough by just about everyone.

  7. Why all the negativity? They won 4 out of 5 prior to this game. Boston had been on a roll. Yeah need more consistency, but the main issue is because they need another star forward after Marner left.

  8. If Toronto wants a Cup just let Berube be Berube; Zadorov would have had hell to pay for that hit if Berube had complete control. I think Berube would get rid of his entire defensive core for a bag of pucks because collectively they are soft and no one fears playing against them.

  9. Benoit giving up pucks and not clearing the front of the net. The leafs need to trade for experience D the current guys are turning over pucks in the d-zone and is slow.

  10. Boston fan here. I feel bad for you guys. We’ve been trying to get rid of Carlo for 10 years softest defenseman every on the Bruins!! The Bruins management is laughing at you guys.

  11. Paneuf, Tavares and now Matthews Captains without passion. Sundin Golmour and Clark Captains with passion who lead their team into deep playoff runs. Dubas ruined this team for years.

  12. Yea sure Berube, you built a tough team. They can only score 5 on 4, while Boston scored 5 on 5, which the Leafs could not even defend.
I have seen 15 year old 'A' teams tougher then the Leafs.
Time to get a new coach, and GM.
Because what did the GM do, trade away Minten ( for Carlo ), who made the Boston team, played regular shifts, and scored on the Leafs ( his 3rd goal of the year ).
    Can you handle the pressure?

  13. I’m only here because I want to tell all the Leaf fans that watching this team lose makes me really happy. I’ve been watching the Leafs fall apart for more than 50 years and it is a beautiful thing each year. ❤

  14. It’s actually funny watching this team implode and search for answers. That being said, enough is enough. Start the rebuild. Treviling is lost. This team is worse than it has been in over a decade. The players are checked out. I think one more game like this and fans are going to start throwing jerseys.

    “but it’s only 15 games in” – don’t kid yourself… this team hasn’t been relevant since 1967
