This is a lost season for CMC. He’s already older for an RB and 2026 & 2027 will truly be years where we make a push for a SB. But will this be CMC’s last season playing at this level? Kind of a bummer.
Not to mention Juice, Kittle and Trent as well.

We have 2026 left and then good bye SuperBowl shot for a while
CMC is a freak, he still has 2 more good seasons in him I’m sure. Maybe not at MVP level but still elite.
He should switch to receiver, his burst and acceleration is gone, and it’s painfully obvious when you watch the games and then compare that to his speed stats.
At receiver his route running is still elite and he has good hands, he’d be a perfect slot receiver and deebo style gadget player.
Get guys with burst and acceleration to play RB so we can actually utilize the stretch runs and outside zone
To be honest at no point in the season did I feel the same vibe as our 2023 season. That was special and we still fell short.
The SB window passed for this team already. They had their chance on the last SB and blew it
10-7 is a good year tho. And space to grow.
There are many deserving forever Niners that never got a ring. CMC’s only been here 3 years and only during the good times. He would be pretty low on the list of players I feel bad for.
Well maybe but if the offense gets healthy and the defense improves week by week with no injuries I think it could get interesting
Kyle will create a new position in the offseason where we get rid of juice and CMC will play the Deebo wide back role with B Rob getting the between the tackles carries
That’s how it goes. Plenty of talented players who missed their chance at a ring because of the team around them. If CMC was still in Carolina, he’d be worse off. If in LA, who knows?
Our SB chances hinge on Trent for me, way more than CMC. If Trent somehow has another good year or two in him, then yes I’d say we have until 2027. Or if somehow Lynch shores up the OL this offseason, then also yes.
He can always move to the Slot and eek out a few more years.
Push for a sb???? Team is in full rebuild and we’re not even sure who of these rookies are even good. We’re at least another year from figuring out the roster.
We are the best 6th Seed in the NFL History. lol
….and CMC is taking a beating this year… all for naught…
We don’t need CmC to be an mvp caliber player. We just need him to be a great running back, he can still do that for one or two more years. If he can produce mvp level games once n a while too great. Have faith, it’s all we can do at this point ladies and gentlemen
Push for SB? With what players? Thanks to Shanahan we can’t even field a high school defensive squad. We have, easily, the worst strength and conditioning program in sports. Players get IR’ed for tripping on shoe laces. They are severely unprepared physically for any sort of contact. That’s all on coaching and staff.
It’s really a bad place for the team to be. On paper (with everyone healthy) we are a top 4 team. In actuality we are out playing our injuries, but still can’t compete with top teams. Barring anything crazy, we will keep the window open another 1-2 years with our current players – but bosa, Warner, little, and CMC will show their age next year and the year after. And that’s not even talking about how Trent is way below his peak this year. Absent an amazing year next year or some kind of o line renaissance next year (and regress to the mean injury wise which means we don’t lose any major parts for the year) we will fall into ravens territory. Always good. Just never good enough.
If Kittle and CMC fall off big time and Trent and Juice continue their decline, are you sure we’ll be SB contenders in 26 and 27? The team is getting old and several of our star players will be coming back from major injuries. In Bosa’s case, he’s been injured a lot in his career. The offensive line is awful.
I don’t know, I just think this team’s window is gradually closing and the absolute last thing it needed was for this to be a wasted year.
Let’s be honest, y’all. The window closed with our last SB loss. Our core stars are on the back nine of their incredible careers. Anyone thinking otherwise is deluding themselves.
Dude this is a 1 and done playoff team if they even make it. Not to mention our 1st round draft pick will only be hurt by making the playoffs. It’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation.
And don’t worry even if we were the #1 pick in the draft we’d still draft a defensive end who be injury prone.
I don’t think he’s at the level he was a couple of seasons ago and is going to keep naturally declining with age and usage, so it’s probably safe to say he’s not playing at this level again naturally. His rushing stats are piling up more because of volume, not because he’s still at his peak. He’s already past his receiving targets for 2023. I would imagine a trajectory similar to LaDainian Tomlinson if he can stay healthy – which I’m doubting after the usage this season.
People have done studies, especially in fantasy football, on RB’s who do 300+ touches in a season and the higher the total gets the more likely they will get injured the next season or regress at best. He had 400+ in Carolina and only played 3 games season after. Then in 2023 regular season + playoffs he had over 400 again and you saw what happened. I think he’s around 250 after this game already. A long playoff run might actually be the end of him.
B Rob is nice too. CMC doesn’t need to have 2k yards as long as Aiyuk returns to a 900/90/9 level of prodicrion
Wouldn’t be a fringe playoff team if we’d won this game
if they drafted properly from 2023 to 2025, we would still be a legit contender. Plus if we didn’t let go of every single veteran this offseason.
Fans will downvote and complain but that is the reality. You can’t be reliant on a bunch of guys drafted in the 2010s when we are already in 2025. It’s why I’m not optimistic about next season because I don’t see any of these young guys as future All-Pros.
I mean, he could still be productive next year but the problem is his touches are too high so he’s gonna either be a huge injury risk or just play poorly next year. Curse of 400. Really wish he got capped at 20 touches a game because he still has some juice left in the tank, just not quite the CMC we’re used to. He won’t have any breakaway speed and house a 60 yarder anymore but he can move well in the open field and kick runs outside for some gains. Henry at 31 is still moving well and I know he’s an anomaly but so is CMC so I’m confident he can give us 1 more solid year as long as he can somehow stay healthy after the usage he’s getting this year. Then sail off into the sunset at 32 doing what he can and retire after 2027.
Something needs to change. Every single fucking year we’re in here talking about how injured the team is. They’re frequently the most injured team in the league. I get it. It’s a physical sport so dudes are gonna get hurt. But, to the degree our guys are? Nah, something stinks and Shanny and Lynch need to figure out where shit is going wrong because I’m fucking sick of it at this point.
You just gotta hope that the passing game next year with theoretically a healthy Purdy, Aiyuk, and Pearsall plus Kittle can raise the passing game enough to take pressure off of CMC having to carry the offense. That will extend his effectiveness.
The team is doomed. I’d be surprised if we even make it to the playoffs.
I might not see a SB in my life. I’m 30 sigh. 😔
Guys, the 49ers aren’t a playoff team. It’s not happening. And that’s okay!! It’s a huge dead cap clearing year and the team is crippled.
Let the delusions go.
3 seasons here with 2 all time great seasons and no rings to show for it, that’s the disappointing thing
Makes the trade from the panthers seem like nothing but going from a team that can’t win games to a team that can’t win the big one, HOF for sure
