NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Canucks | November 09, 2025

And he starts on the bench in this game with
young Elias Patterson on his left. Big test tonight. Nathan McKinnon in front. Kicked out
by Lankin. I think he was looking for a tip and the Conucks move the puck ahead. Here’s
Lucas Rel. Here’s a lead pass. Patterson in. Shoots off the arm of Blackwood. The puck out of
play as Quinn Hughes sprung Elias Patterson. Oh, nice pass up ice. finds Person deep up through
the middle of the ice and Person had a a little bit of the yips again last night early in the
second period. He dropped one. Here come the abs quickly. McKinnon has a step on Myers cut
with the shot glove. Save Lank but man he’s impossible to handle when he’s out in the open
ice. Shot by Taves. A stick save by Lank. Mars moved in deep now. Quinn Hughes up ice across
to Garland. Wrist shotered away by Blackwood. Zakar Vardikov tried to move the puck. Besser
winds up with it. Sends it across to Yonder. Now Elias Patterson deflected right past save.
I think Sherwood or Sans and Associates inside the numbers later as Lankin makes a left pass.
A Sman going to have to face another one here. Patterson went down to block it as Arturi Lechen
had an opportunity on the back end and shake it out a little bit. He’s going to limp his way
to the bench now. Hunched over after that hit in the neutral zone from Evander Kane. Marin on
the right wing. sends one in front. Nachuskin dishes off. They score. Nathan McKinn stretches
his point streak to nine games as he opens the scoring just shy of the sevenminute mark here in
Vancouver. Pass by Nachuskin, but the entry is too much room allowed for Kale Mar. Now that opens up
four Avalanche into the rush and Nuskin is going to freeze everybody in the middle of the ice.
Heronic thinks that there’s a shot coming. The dish goes to McKinnon and wide open net. The most
dangerous. Conor Bernard for the league lead in points after Bernard had another big game tonight.
There’s a shot stop rebound. Baines couldn’t get it to go after the initial save by Blackwood off
Lenus Carlson. Whiffed on that one. Shanked it into the corner. McKinnon for a car. Sherwood
blocked the pass, but the Abs regained control. Olson across. McKinnon shoots. He scores. Second
of the period for Nathan McKinnon. The ABS count on the power play to clearing the zone. And the
last thing the ABS need is a second opportunity. Right here is where Sherwood gets it. It hits his
feet, but Macar finds the puck first. Olivesson, who signed as a free agent from Vegas,
slides this. It goes right through the feet of Ratu. And McKinnon just does
not need much room, does he? I mean, it’s not much. It’s just one little push from
the outside of the circle into his Malinski. Pass picked off by Jake De Brush. Gi skates
the other way. Cuts left hooks one on goal. Blackwood got his right pad on that now. Loose
puck in front. De Brush shoots wide. Besser in front. Now he enters the right jam home. Garland
trying to settle a bouncy puck. Feeds into the corner. Rock Besser up to Connor Garland shoots
and a glove save by Blackwood but Patterson wins the face off. Garland takes a pass on the near
side down to Besser. Back up to Garland puts one in front and Patterson hit the post. Hughes
at the left point spins away from Kelly. Quinn Hughes fakes the shot goes the other way now one
and a blocker saved by Blackwood. 5 seconds to the power play. Hughes in front off a skate
and Blackwood stopped Carlson. Kane gets the puck. Pulls it in front and the Conucks can’t
get a stick on it. Penalty’s over. Manson’s out of the box. Hughes turning with a puck.
Nushkin trying to stay with him. Here’s Kane. Heronic towards the goal of Tain’s glove. Jammed
in. Lis Carlson for his first of the season. finally rewarded and it’s a one-goal game. So
much right with this for the Canucks. Hughes back after a brilliant third period yesterday.
He’s all over the ice here to create the chance. Watch the hands on Carlson. The puck goes below
the goal line through his own feet and jams it up into the top of an edge. Haven’t talked
about him yet. Been a while since he played a game here in Vancouver. Here’s Sone and to
the crease. Knocked away by Blackwood. And the net’s been dislodged. Marcus Patterson back
into his own zone. Here’s Molinsky on net. Oh, Langman looked behind him. He wasn’t sure.
Looking to tie on the power play. Garland down to Besser. Cuts in front of the shot. Stop.
Rebound. Patterson jamming away. Couldn’t get it past Blackwood who covers in the crease. Is in
the front of the net. You’ll see De Bruss come to the back door. And it’s going to be Person that
gets the rebound here. shoveling away. He’s just trying to chip that up over Blackwood as that puck
hits twice. And there’s Patterson. Got two whacks at it actually. ABS control the puck. Chaves
goes off the boards and out. Now they have a chance for a break. Drury’s it. Drury shoots.
Stopped by Lanken who came out to challenge. Basser picks his way to center. Back
hands one wide to the goal. Sherwood after the puck. He’s taken out by
Lechen as he tried to get in on the four check. Now he gets the puck right
in front. Backhander scores number 10. He was impeded, but it’s effort that prevents
or creates the goal because he kept his legs moving. He ends up getting knocked over and tied
up by Devon Taves. Taves goes back to the puck. Lechin’s borderline interfered with him. But
because Sherwood’s effort keeps his legs moving, he’s rewarded as the puck comes right back to
him. This one slides right through Blackwood’s feet. That broke the stick of Heronic. But here
comes Kane two-on-one with Garland with Ander Kane going to go right to the net with the
backhander and he missed on the short side. Sherwood moves the puck ahead. Basser into the
middle. Hughes shoots. Stopped by Blackwood who came out to challenge as Hughes. So Garland trying
to defend here without his stick as the pass comes back to Brent Burns. Puts one in front. Tipped
in. Arturi Lechan as Burns put it on the tape and Lechan put it under the bar. 28 seconds
into the third period to put Colorado on top without a stick and now you can’t defend
the pass. He can’t get it into a shot lane as Burns snaps this right on the tape of
Lean and he’s inside of Hughes who can’t get his stick tied up as Burns heads up and
the deflection by Lechen and goes into the top corner pass Kevin Lankan and now the Conucks
after all that good work in the second periods have never trailed. There’s one. Oh, that one off
Nelson Skate. And that might be Blackwood’s best save of the game. And here comes Ross Colton in
on the left wing. Shoots. Knocked away by Kevin Lan. Puck centered and another save by Lan.
This one off Brock Nelson. Kept into the blue line by Heronic. Here’s Ratu shooting. Stopped.
Rebound to breast. Can’t beat Blackwood. Puck still loose and Nous intercepts and clears.
Mushkin sends one around. The Canucks are going to chase after that. And here comes Okconor
with Sherwood. Drew O’ Conor shoots. He scores. A short-handed goal for Drew O’ Conor and
he’s tied the game at three. Nooken rings this around the boards. Okconor’s got to deal
with a rolling puck the whole way down the ice. This thing never settles down. And it’s
an erratic release off the stick of O’ Conor because the puck’s on its edge. You see a
good look at it there. It’s wobbling and it’s a perfect shot. Okconor has found his game. This
is the player the Canucks are looking for. Big, fast, straight ahead. Get it as McKinnon feeds
back to Mar. Here’s Nate McKinnon. And a sharp angle shot. They score on the rebound. Linen
with his second of the period. A lunging save by Kevin Lankin. But then it was Lchinan who
beat him. And it’s Avalanche back on top by one. This puck movement is sharp and crisp. The
one-time by Nas is stopped by Lechinan in the or stopped by Lankin and the rebound pops
right out to Arturi. Lechan, as you mentioned, his second and the Canucks will have
to dig deep again. Third time in his career he’s done what you just called. Oh,
there’s a save by turning at the blue line on Brinley. Leaves for Patterson. Penderson
cuts left in on goal. Tried to shovel it in. That was stopped. Here’s Marcus Patterson
to Quinn Hughes. Goal. He’s lost his stick and he makes the save. Struggles the puck.
Garland across. Blackwood has his stick back. Kane conducts control off the draw looking to tie
this up with just over three minutes remaining in the third. Besser fake the pass to Hughes. Now he
puts side of the net. Tipped in by Jake de Bruss. The power play cashes in. De Bruss power play
goal of the year. Goals in backto back nights. 28 faceoffs for Patterson tonight. He wins the draw.
He’s played a monster game. He and Hughes will corral the puck and Besser’s looking for another
option. Garland will leave the bumper and go to the corner. When he leaves, that draws Burns.
As soon as he leaves, Burns leaves. That opens up this pass lane and Jake de Brusk sweetly tips
it up over the glove of McKenzie Blackwell. 15 seconds remaining in the third period. Here comes
Kale Mar with speed. Mar into the bank of his own makes a move. Backhander Lincoln made the save on
the short side. Here’s Taves. Mar shoots. Lank and fought it off. Two seconds left. ABS pressing
late. Mar shoots. Lank in the save and the horn sounds. This game will go to overtime. Thank
worry about those things. But that’s over now as the Bruss comes out to replace Garland. Brinley
rushes in with a wrist shot. Lanking in the save. Brinley on the rebound scores. Canucks couldn’t
move the puck out of harm’s way. And Gavin Brinley followed his own rebound to the net. Put it home
at 68 seconds of overtime. The second game back after he missed a week with a concussion. It was
a press tonight with Bridley. He drew a penalty on Valander that led to the second Lanin goal. He
gets his first overtime goal here as Lankinan has the shot hit him and it bounces out in front
of him. He’s trying to get to the rebound, but before he can get to it, Brinley’s
there first before Besser can knock it away.

  1. I know a lot of people are worried about the center depth. They seem to be fine. A lot of players figuring out how good they can be. An AHL line that can dominate at times. Scoring hasn't been as big of problem nor face offs. Consistency that will come!

  2. Well process is definitely there with the avs this season. 2 PP goals and OT win are something we were lacking this season. I am really looking forward how will team look during play off (of course if we make it nothing is sure). team chemistry is getting better only things we are really lacking are landy and nelson to get going. I know landy had a bit of a bad luck with 2 dissallowed goals this season and process and effort are there for him.
