Canucks get snowed under by the ABS in overtime. We’re breaking down a fun night of hockey right here on Rinkwide Vancouver. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] And we welcome you inside the Pacific Toyota dealer studios. Visit shop toyota.ca or your local Pacific Toyota dealer today. Ring Vancouver brought to you in part by bet365. I’m Jeff. He is earthf. He’s back after a night off last night that saw the Conucks beat Columbus 4 to3. So a one-goal win for the Canucks on Saturday. A one-goal loss to the Colorado Avalanche. And what a weekend for the Aavs and for Nathan McKinnon, Nate the Great indeed. But lots of credit to the Vancouver Conucks as well. Backto-back for both of these teams. There was no letup. The Canucks traded punches with the top team in the National Hockey League, went for goal. Uh never led in this hockey game. And with all the star power that was on the ice and available on both sides, it was Gavin Brinley that ends up scoring the winner. And moments before he scored, I looked at you and I said, “Who is Gavin Brinley? What’s he doing on the ice in overtime?” Well, the answer is he’s scoring winners. His third of the year at 108. So 68 seconds of overtime. Canucks first loss beyond regulation time this year. And uh yes, McKinnon and Macar figure in the scoring. They get the assists, but a nice play. Brinley gets his own rebound and is able to tuck it past Kevin Lanken who was asked to play on back-to-back nights and gave the Conucks some saves but ultimately five get past him. Uh but we’re not going to get the knives out for Kevin Lankan in extreme circumstances for a goalender to go back to back and as I said there was a lot to like in this game. Unfortunately uh the Ducks come up a goal short. Yeah. And I think if you would have told me without their number one goalie in backto-backs against Columbus and then Colorado that they would have collected three out of a possible four points, I would have said, you know what, that’s not too bad. And you’re right, Jeeoff, they traded punches with the league’s best team. McKinn and Mar, the stars were there for the Colorado Avalanche. But the Canucks, as they’ve always been able to do, fight back and were able to fight back and they showed some resilience in this hockey game. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t lose, but they got the point and can now head on over to Winnipeg on Tuesday. uh ABS jump out to a two nothing lead and it was the Nathan McKinnon show and again this is on the heels of Colorado just blasting Edmonton 9 to1 on Saturday and you thought oh well maybe they had their fun what are the chances that uh Nate’s going to dial it up yet again and he had two and two on Saturday in Edmonton he outdid himself with two and three he was in on all five of the Colorado goals you’ll hear about him in the three stars spoiler alert there but uh off the rush his first one uh and then moments later on a power play just a wicked wrist shot in the slot and so up to 14 goals on the season and at that point you’re thinking uh-oh look out it was nine to1 last night is it going to be nine to1 this night as well um and then at the tail end of power play the penalty had expired but the applying pressure and Lenus Carlson what a way to get his first of the season not his first in the NHL but as pretty as they come the second effort a couple of whacks at the side of the net and uh between the legs in in real time in the rink. I didn’t see the between the legs uh but certainly with the replays and and I I think there were a lot of people that were in that boat when they showed the replay like damn this guy between the legs able to fight off the check and scoop it in and from that point really through the end of the second period the Canucks carried the play. At one point the shots were 2511 in Vancouver’s favor. And again, if you Well, Colorado played last night. No, Conucks played last night as well. Like it was backtoback for both of these teams. So, not really a huge advantage. Yeah, the Conucks were at home. Obviously, Colorado flying in from Edmonton. Uh, but this is the NHL and you have to deal with backto-backs. And credit to both of these teams because they put on a heck of a show at Rogers Arena. Unfortunately for the Canucks, it goes into the books as a another home ice loss. So they’re 88-1 on the season now. Uh 34-1 on home ice. But uh again, I’m with you at the end of a weekend like this one to stand in and trade punches with an explosive team when its best players were going the way that McKinnon and ultimately Macar were. Um it’s hard to knock like the Cucks don’t measure up against the Colorado Avalanche. like in the big picture, they’re not at the level of the average, but for 61 minutes here tonight, um they stuck with it. Like this to me was encouraging uh for a night. Is it an indication that hey, the Canucks can hang with the heavies in the NHL? I’m not prepared to go that far just yet, but I think it will give some confidence to this group that they did a lot of good things, but ultimately given up five, this team’s not going to win many nights when uh five go in its own goal. Well, it’s a point deserved for the Vancouver Conucks, I think, in this one. And I think the bigger question is, you know, you take I’m not here to sit and say it’s a moral victory, but it’s encouraging that you can play like this. And is it and can you be consistent in your play and take this into a day off on Monday and go and play against a team that’s going to be pissed off coming in, the Winnipeg Jets, get to them a little bit later, but is it something that you’re able to do? And, you know, their stars were their stars. You know, Brock Besser with a great pass. You know, um Elas Person had a monster game. He was great in the faceoff circle. was everywhere making plays on both ends of the ice. Um, and then the goalender Kevin Lankin and like you just mentioned, it was obviously circumstances that he probably didn’t want nor the organization, but he stood in there and, you know, he was able to make saves and keep his team uh in the game. Yeah. And and I like the fact that two nights in a row here, the Conucks don’t go quietly last night in a 3-3 tie. Uh, still were able to find a way to get the winner. Uh, Elvis Mlickens maybe would like a second crack, get Brock Besser’s shot, but whatever. for rocking open space was able to do what he’s supposed to do and he scores there and here down a goal with three minutes to play. Gabriel Andog the captain, the leader, the veteran just a ridiculously stupid penalty. Uh and it costs the ABS. Now ultimately it doesn’t cost them because they get the win and they get the two points but the Canucks were able to score the power play, tie the game, get it to overtime. So Vancouver gets something out of this hockey game. Uh we saw Vander Kane take the late penalty in Nashville uh couple games ago and Freds were able to cash in on that power play. Here the tables are turned and it’s the Canucks that uh score on the power play. Uh and they had to because that was their fifth power play of the night. Yeah. And Colorado had already scored twice with the man advantage. This connect penalty killing is going from bad to worse. And that is a massive concern that the guys that they’ve got. You can’t keep saying, “Oh, when Teddy Bluger and Derek Forbert, Derek Forbert’s on long-term injured, like he’s not coming back anytime soon, the guys that they got just cannot kill off penalties.” Um, and I thought that was going to be really sort of the the theme of this night and really our talking point was Colorado scores two on the power play. Canucks get nothing. Uh, but to their credit, Elias Patterson wins the draw. Besser with the shot and Jake De Brusk nifty little defle two nights in a row with the nice hands in tight and look out all of a sudden November Jake De Brusk is showing up scores some backto-back games he’s up to five on the season again you need more and you want more from him but can’t get on a streak without the first couple and so streaky Jake De Bruska scored in back-to-back games now and that power play goal at 1659 of the third period ties the game sets the stage for overtime and that is where Gavin Brinley wins it with his third of the year. So 5-4 is the final but the Conucks get three or four points here. Uh they’re 1-1 and one now on the home stand and as I said Winnipeg is coming in remembrance day Tuesday night uh to close out this four game home stand. Uh you know us, we love super chats. We want you to be fully interactive with us here on Rinkwide. So your thoughts on a night like tonight? Yes, the Conucks lose. They get a single point. But where entertainment has been lacking on a lot of nights when I think of the two nothing loss to the New York Rangers, the St. Louis game where the Conucks were as flat as can be. If you pay your money and it it takes an investment these days to go to a National Hockey League game, I there’s not a person that would leave the building tonight and think, “All right, like yeah, I shelled out. I wanted to see some star power, but I was entertained.” This one I they put on a show both teams. So, credit to them on the back half of back tobacks. I I just thought uh probably the best most entertaining game that we’ve seen at Rogers Arena so far this season. Yeah. And I think that with all the hype that the Colorado Avalanche had from the Saturday night, everyone heard about it. They knew this is a big team coming in and then they smoke the Edmonton Oilers and it’s like, okay, what type of team are we getting? And then like you mentioned off the first 10 minutes in the game, Nathan McKinnon, couple goals, you’re like, “Uhoh, is this going to happen again?” And you might have seen people running to the exits if it gotten out of hand early, but um credit to the Vancouver Conucks. You know, you talked about, you know, that power play goal faceoff win by Elas Patterson was huge. We’ll get into that a little bit later, but Brock getting the puck before Quinn on a power play, I think changes so many different things. Like Brock’s got great vision, is able to, you know, feed and thread passes, but when Quinn Hughes moves or when Connor Garland moves, it moved Brent Burns right out of the way. And because of that, when both those guys moved, shifted him a little bit. Brock was able to fire the pass right to Jake De Brask and tipped it and it was a perfect play. Um, very very well executed by the Vancouver Conucks. It just as you’re seeing here on the live stream just opening up that little bit of space of ice and you know for those two to being able to connect there is great for them. Well, I thought it was interesting Adam Foot yesterday uh at the morning skate ahead of the Columbus game talked a little bit about Quinn Hughes and where he is with his game and you know the points aren’t necessarily where we’re accustomed to seeing uh the efforts there. He’s had some moments obviously missed the four games, but the one thing Adam Foot said was, uh, teams are pressuring him out high. He’s got to find a way to use his teammates. He’s got to find a way to kick the puck down low and create the mismatches if teams are going to flood up high. Now, this is a power play, so obviously the Canucks have an extra skater on the ice, but I thought tonight they showed a bunch of different looks on the power play. They were trying to attack from both sides of the net. Like, it wasn’t all Quinn at the top of the umbrella. And when you think of that five-minute power play against Columbus on Saturday night, they were so stagnant and they just there wasn’t player movement, there wasn’t puck movement. And so, credit to the coaching staff. I’m sure they did some video work. I thought the power play, even though it goes one for five, um, you know, it didn’t blow this game out of the water, but I thought there was it was dynamic. I thought there was a way better movement uh on and off the puck and, you know, created nine shots on goal. Um, I’m always a big believer in, you know, a shot per minute of power play time. And, uh, here the Canucks are better than that with nine uh, shots on goal in just over eight minutes of power play time. So, again, hit us up with super chat. We want to know what you’re thinking, what’s on your mind. Uh, where you are with this hockey club. It’s been a sort of up and down year. It’s been an up and down week, obviously. Uh, super chats support the BC Mental Health Foundation changing the face of mental health and addiction by supporting breakthroughs in care, public understanding, research, and knowledge exchange. Spatilly says, “The rink wide king show out. We do it every night.” Irv took a night off last night. That’s all right. But he’s back here working on a Sunday. So, um, he picked a good night to get back on it with a lot to get to here. So, let’s get to the three stars of this hockey game. Uh, some nights it’s tough to come up with three stars. Tonight, there were plenty of options. Uh, the three stars are a presentation of Gretar YVR 50 West Cordova. We tell you about it on every episode of Rinkwide, but it is a happening place and I’m sure it was softened on a night like this with the ABS in town and full slate of Sunday football as well. Walking distance from the rink and stadium. It’s got all the big screen TVs. It’s got the food and drink specials and game day specials as well. Uh, the arcade games. Uh, highly recommend that you give it a go. Gretabar 50 West Cordova. Gretar let the games begin. Three stars in the building. Nathan McKinnon, Quinn Hughes, and Arturi Lechinan. Um yeah, we’ve got two of those guys here. Uh McKinnon with two goals, three assists. You add it up. The ABS scored five times. Uh he had a point on all five goals. This after two goals and two assists last night. Came into the weekend with 20 points. Leaves the weekend with 29. and he had a 9point weekend and like this is not to be critical of Elias Patterson because the effort is there like he played a ton he had another good game like dug in he won a ton of faceoffs uh making things happen but Nathan McKinnon had nine points this weekend and Elias Patterson didn’t figure in the scoring in this hockey game and it’s just all the good things are there in his game except the points and it’s hard to figure out at times. He was shooting the puck tonight. We saw a one-timer. Actually saw a bunch of shots from EP 40. Four shots on eight attempts, but he is not among the three stars. Nathan McInnon, easy choices. Star number one, Art Tur Lechin has two goals. Uh both of them in the third period, first shift of the third, 28 second mark. And then again on the power play after Tom Wanderer took the penalty that was drawn by Gavin Brinley. So nice finish to the hockey game for for Brindley. Uh but there’s Lechan and look Quinn Hughes had a monster night playing back toback plays 27 minutes and 56 seconds had seven shots to lead the Canucks. Uh I thought Quinn had a really good weekend and so that’s encouraging for a guy coming back after missing the four games. But uh we went Lenus Carlson. I look that fourth line the Abbottzford line people have wondered you know where’s the offense? Like what are these guys doing to stay in the NHL? defensively responsible and then on a night like this you get Lenus Carlson chipping it in not just a goal but a pretty goal but the thing is that these guys generally uh in their limited minutes don’t get scored on and so it is building up trust with the coaching staff sure you’d like a little bit more and um you know I I’m sure Archie Baines wonders when his first goal is going to come but again Lenus Carlson was one of the low ice time guys for the Vancouver Conucks tonight. In fact, was he the low ice time man? I think he might have been. Yeah. 9 minutes and 47 seconds for Lena Carson. You’re not going to find a a star generally that’s the low ice time guy for his team. Yeah. But in 9 minutes and 47 seconds, this is how you make an impact. He had three shots on goal on seven attempts. And I don’t know what the underlying numbers finished. and I can check them out here as we go in real time. But in the first period, the first period for Lenus Carlson, shot attempts were 8 to1 in favor of the Canucks. The actual shots were five to one. Like he had a terrific night in a limited role. So uh we salute Lus Carlson. He’s not going to get into the three stars often, but uh he was going tonight. And so uh tip of the cap to Lenus Carlson. He’s the third star. McKinnon Lechin and Carlson. Well, we always talk about it making the most of your opportunities and Lenus Carlson and that Abbottzford line has been doing just that. It’s I don’t think it’s the offense. The offense was great. The goal was awesome. Hands in tight. Like you play at this level, you will be able to do those things. If you’re on the top line or you’re on the fourth line, guys in the NHL are pretty good hockey players throughout the lineup. So, for that Abbottzford line and especially for a guy like Lenus Carlson, you know, there was a spot for him on this team. obviously his waiver status and and and all of that was going to be brought into into a big talking point. But I think that line and what they were able to do and carry on from Abbottzford here and keep it and keep it rolling. They’ve earned the trust of their head coach. They can go out in situations. They can go get you a goal if you if you need it. It’s not going to happen every single night. They’re not going to be that pretty, but they can go and do it. And for Nathan McKinnon, obviously our top star. He’s top two in the league. Here’s my opt. He’s top two, but he’s not two, Jeff. I think he is there. Like he he’s got to be. I mean, obviously with Conor McDavid and everything, but Nathan McKinnon is mustsee TV or must see in person every single time he’s on the ice. Well, and we’ve come through a week here where Badard and Celibbrini has sort of passed the baton and we’ve all raved the North Vancouver guys taken over and Youth and everything else. And then Nate was like, “Hang on a sec here, big dog.” Uh, and so with 29 points, he has opened up a four-point lead at top the NHL scoring race. And that’s what a nine-point weekend uh will do for you. So, uh, I’m with you. Like, he’s such a unique player where Conor McDavid does everything at warp speed and it’s breathtaking. And if you haven’t had a chance to see McDavid in person, like, if you’re going to shell out for tickets, uh, find a way, uh, while he’s in the prime because he just does things at a totally different level than everybody else. McKinnon’s got that speed element as well, but I always say like he’s predatory in the offensive zone. The way that he he just kind of hunts the net and the way that he cuts to the middle all the time and cuts back on guys to create space and, you know, he’s big enough that he can shield the puck and and shield players that are trying to get to him. And, you know, if the puck’s on his stick in the right spot, he just doesn’t miss. He doesn’t miss. And he didn’t in the first period. uh up to 14 goals now on the season. So yeah, Nate was going tonight. Uh Conucks didn’t have an answer for him, but they do get a single point in the 5-4 loss to the ABS. All right, I want to get to our stat that stands out. This one’s a little bit different, but I thought a fair bit of fun as well. The stat that stands out here on Rinkwide is delivered by Uber Eatats. And every time the Canucks are playing at home, you can get a buy 1 get one six- piece chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s in Vancouver only on Uber Eatats. From game day eats to paper plates and napkins if you’re hosting to all the ingredients you need to make your favorite game day dip before, during, or after the game. Uber Eatats assisting every fan’s hockey experience all season long. # crave the stats. Brent Burns comes to town as a member of the Colorado Avalanche for the first time. Not his first time in Vancouver. In fact, his first time in Vancouver in the NHL, I looked this one up. Was 2004 with the Minnesota Wild. Um, and I believe it was the night the game after the Todd Bertusi incident. Okay. So, the Conucks were down a bunch of guys. Uh, they had players like Pat Kavanaaugh, Tyler Balk was in their lineup. Mike Keane, Mark Berseran was playing that night. Uh, and Brent Burns is still going. And if you’re watching the live stream, you can see it right there. Tonight was Brent Burns 83rd career regular season game against the Vancouver Conucks. The season is 82 games. Next year it’ll be 84. Uh, but this guy has played a season of National Hockey League games within his career against the Vancouver Conucks back in the what was it? The Northwest Division. Yep. With Minnesota where they played a bunch of times. Y then he moves to San Jose and of course just down the coast. He played a bunch of times. Uh, and then you know Carolina for the last couple years, not as many times. now back here in the West and he’ll be back. Uh we’ll see if he plays beyond this one. I mean, this is a guy that was part of that 2003 first round and uh he is still at it and doing his thing and uh 83 career regular season games against the Vancouver Conucks. That is definitely a stat that stands out delivered by Uber Eats. It’s it’s insane. 1,500 1,513 National Hockey League games. He’s got a lot of goals and a lot of assists, a lot of points. Man, this guy did it all. And also, he won the North Trophy in 2016, 2017. Played every game that season. Remember when he went to San Jose? They turned him into a forward. Yep. They had all these defenseman there and these stud Eric Carlson was there. Then they turned him into a forward. He got 22 goals as a forward and then they moved him back to defense. He can do everything and he still looks like he’s having a ball. Yeah. Um he played over 20 minutes in this hockey game. like he’s not slowing down. He’s not the featured defenseman on a team that has Mar and and Devont Taves, but he is still providing solid minutes. Picked up an assist in the hockey game. And Brent Burns still at it 1,500 plus regular season games plus a bunch more in the playoffs. All right. Uh there’s still a bunch of things that we haven’t even touched on here. That’s the kind of night it was uh with lots going on both ends of the ice. Uh let’s start with Kefir Sherwood though. The former Colorado AV is up to 10 or double digits 17 games into the season. He got his assist last night. He’s like, “Eh, assist, forget it.” Like, I want to be a goal scorer. Um and he just doesn’t score many cheap ones. Like, you know, over the course of a season, guys that rack up goals, there’s usually a couple of bounces here or there, puck hits them go in. like the finesse that he continues to show and this time anticipates uh was it Nas that gave the puck away. It slides right to Sherwood and he just makes it like there’s no panic, the poise, the patience and just tucks it past Mackenzie Blackwood and that was a big goal. It tied the game at two after the Conucks were down two nothing to get back on even terms a minute and 44 seconds into the second period. So, uh, yeah, the Kefir Sherwood train continues and I think I read somewhere, uh, it’s the seventh career goal against the Colorado Avalanche. Had the hat-tick last year, so uh, I don’t know, payback for one of his his former teams. But, uh, he’s just been so good for the Canucks and, uh, was again in this hockey game. Well, like you said, like he doesn’t it’s not goals where they’re going into empty nets or he’s or he’s cheating the game in any way. They’re they’re goalc scorers goals and he’s not considered a goal scorer. And I think that that’s one of the things when you look at him and say there’s a reason why teams out there might be paying $5 million for this guy. So great for him. 10 goals on the year in 17 games is massive. Um health has obviously always been there for for him and he’s stayed relatively heavily. Knock on wood obviously that he remains his health. But I I I like the play on that goal. I think it was NHS that did give it away around the boards. Tyler Myers, he’s allowed he has permission to have a longer streak in the NHL than everybody else because he is so tall. But makes the pinch to get the puck that kind of slides right to Sherwood there. is able to beat uh Blackwood for the goal. So, we’ve talked about Carlson’s goal, we’ve talked about Sherwood’s goal. Canucks go down three to2 early in the second period and then Evander Kane takes his 10th minor penalty and it’s all part of the Evander Kane experience and uh inopportune time because Colorado had the lead and you thought the power play that already scored once was this going to be where they separate and pull away from the Vancouver Conucks. The answer was no. Uh, the only pulling away was Drew O’ Conor who is just on an absolute heater right now. And there’s a sentence I’m not sure I thought I would ever utter, but I I’ve delighted for this guy. Like hard work is paying off and it’s paying off in a big way. And he’s scored a bunch recently, but that is clearly his prettiest goal. Short-handed, rips down the left wing and uh rolling puck is able to kind of get it to settle finally. And then as Cale Mar comes over uh snaps it glove side on Blackwood. I mean big time goal for Drew O’ Conor. You know his fourth of the season. He had the one that was overturned the other day. But we said then and say it again that yeah it was overturned for goenderend interference but he was in the right spot. He was at the front of the net. You know he’s a big body that can be hard to to move last night in tight against Columbus and here backs it up. So a good weekend for Drew O’ Conor. But I just liked a lot about that goal and the fact that uh you know instead of Colorado scoring on the power play and I know they got it the next power play but uh still connects with a counterattack short-handed and Drew O’ Conor showing a bunch of speed and then ultimately uh the nice hands to to finish. Yeah, Doc’s been great. That’s what we call him the doc here on this on this program. Seven points in his last six games. So wow, getting himself into those right spots, finding himself into the right positions in front of the net, the dirty areas, and then like you mentioned on this goal, puck was rolling, waited for it to settle down to the last possible second and rip the shot in the only place the puck would fit in the top corner of the net. So it was a great goal for Joe Connor and the Canucks. So that made it three all and you thought, okay, well, hey, maybe they’re going to do what they did to Columbus last night. Then they fell behind. Uh Lechen with a second after Wanderer got beaten. uh hauls down his man, gets called for holding and the first penalty of Tom the Landers National Hockey League career and there’s Lechan in front of the net and uh you know when you’re playing with McKinnon and Macar especially on the power play uh stand your ground u those guys are going to find you uh and so that put Colorado back in front and set the stage for the Bruss to tie. I just want to go back to the first of the two lechin goals uh 28 seconds into the third period because uh well we talked about Quinn Hughes and his big night unfortunately uh it just doesn’t close down Lechan in front and Lechen basically leaning on Quinn Hughes and there’s Brent Burns. We talked about him nifty heads up play to center the pass and uh Leanin able to redirect it in behind Kevin Lankin. Was also tough there too cuz Garland didn’t have his stick as well. So Quinn Hughes kind of was playing double duty, but again what you want to see from Quinn is to be able to get position and be in that right spot. But Lean has made a career out of getting into those positions. You mentioned, you know, Mar and McKinnon on the ice. Lean knows exactly where to go. Put your stick down. Is probably going to go in a lot more than it’s not. So good for him for doing that. But yeah, you’re right. It’s the positioning for Quinn Hughes maybe a little bit lost there on that one. And unfortunately, you found the back of the net. So again, it’s an overtime loss for the Vancouver Cox. the overtime record or beyond regulation uh still looks pretty good at 4- one. It’s a lot better than leaving 14 points on the table the way they did last year. And we’ll see how it goes. There’s still a lot of hockey to be played here. But I think we all just need to take a breath because this game tonight, the season started on October the 9th. Feels like three months ago, but it’s November the 9th. In one month, the Canucks played 17 times. It’s a lot of hockey games. Yeah. Uh I mean, in fact, prior to the Columbus game, it felt a little strange that they had two nights without a game. Like, you get out of your rhythm here. They’ve been playing every other night and then a fair bit of backto-back. This is their third set of backto-backs already this season. Uh there’s no letup. We’ve talked about that. Winnipeg’s in on Tuesday night and then they have to fly down to Carolina and play three and four and then hustle home. They got Dallas shortly after and then there’s two home and then they’re down to California. Um and so there’s no letup and and it’s just the reality of life in an Olympic year. Ultimately they’re all going to play 41 at home and 41 on the road. Uh there will come some softer portions of the schedule, but yeah, it’s just been unrelenting here uh to get to these first 17 in one calendar month. And so, as we’ve said before, uh, to be 88 and1 and sort of treading water on some levels, it’s fine, but you also wonder like, can this group string wins together because uh, this is now nine games that they have alternated wins and losses. They get a single point, but ultimately they is a loss. It’s an overtime loss. And it’s just hard to make hay in today’s National Hockey League. Uh, going win one, lose one, win one, lose one. uh you’ve got to find a way to get on a streak. They had a three-game win streak earlier in the season, but that was followed by three straight losses and just kind of any way you come at it, they’re 500 hockey club. Yeah. And I think you kind of hit the nail on the head there. They like they almost had it right here tonight. We’re sitting here talking about like, you know, they get they get they get the game, you end up winning this game, you’re walking away with two points, two wins in a row. We’re having a really different conversation, but unfortunately it’s not. This is a resultsdriven business. And for the Vancouver Conucks, you just can’t have that many win, loss, win, loss, win, loss in a season where you’re going to have to try and make up some ground on some of these teams. You know, teams are playing out of their minds in front of you. Maybe the Anaheim Ducks are going to aggress to the mean. Maybe you’re going to be to play a little bit better and and and things of that nature, but you can’t count on that. So, you have to take care of your own business. And you had the one win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. You played so well in this game, so build off of it. you know that there are lots of wins that you can take from this game with individual performances I think he can try and implement to the Winnipeg Jets game who are being who are going to be coming in here not in a good mood. No, we’ll talk a little bit more about the Jets uh coming up here. Oh man, what a 48 hours it’s been for the Vancouver Conucks, Jeff. Um, you know, you get word that Yuri Peter has been called up under emergency basis and then, you know, the team basically saying that he’s fine. Um, you know, this is just planned maintenance. word from the agent was that was kind of the same case as well that you know they looked at the schedule and this is kind of how it was going to be and then pregame before the Colorado Avalanche rolls around you know ask Adam foot the question and says that you know it’s going to be LS again in goal Kevin Lankanin um Yuri Peter is going to back up and then is he available is he available to play on Tuesday was yes so from what I know is that Demco is fine. Was told that he was fine and but hasn’t hadn’t seen shots yet. Mhm. So, if there was any indication of him not seeing shots, that would be Monday. Correct. The last time he saw shots was Monday and in a warm up on Wednesday. Wednesday, right? His last he last played in a game last Monday in Nashville. backed up on Wednesday, which I think was design that he had come off a couple of games where he had given up four in each of them and it was just time to get Lankan in there with an eye to all right they got these two weekend games. Uh at that point you figured okay they would split the two and then Thursday was a team day off. Friday was the maintenance day when they got back to practice and that was the first time that Adam Foot addressed it and kind of talked himself in knots and didn’t want to use the word injured and didn’t want to say anything that was kind of going to be held against him. Uh but we had heard that you’re right Demco had skated on Friday. Skating though is one thing and by skating you know out there probably working with a goalending coach but not facing NHL shooters and same thing for Saturday and same thing for Sunday and Sunday team day off so nobody’s going to get eyes on whatever happens around Rogers Arena which then makes the game day skate on Tuesday very interesting because Adam foot today before the game against Colorado when he was asked and he said yeah skate And then when you said, you know, when he was asked about the Demco’s availability, he said, you know, I don’t want to say anything that you guys are going to get mad at me for if he doesn’t play on Tuesday. And like what in the world are we doing here if that’s how like the whole thing? If you back it up to Friday, could the organization not just have simply said, “Look, he’s dealing with something right now. It’s minor. We don’t want it to become any more than that. And as a result, we’re going to be precautionary here. And he’s not going to be available for the weekend. But we’re doing this with an eye to, you know, short-term pain for, you know, a quicker recovery. Um, but they just don’t. And I guess I understand like given the player and given his history like the organization is so afraid to use the word injured right now, especially when it’s around surrounds that player though. I think if it’s a different player, it’s a little bit different. Mind you, the Derek Forward thing went from maintenance to now on LTI. So I think that’s where we in the media look at it and say, “Okay, well, what’s really going on?” Because there has been this has happened before to where it’s been maintenance to now long term. But Adam Foot, I mean, I guess he said that he’s going to he is available on Tuesday. So, I assume that Demco is going to skate on his own on Monday. Um, and then we’ll see what happens in morning skate. And if he I think if he doesn’t back up, there is a huge red flag that needs to go up on on Tuesday at least on a couple of fronts. One, the way they’ve handled it publicly, but also, you know, they play Tuesday, Wednesday, they’re flying to Carolina. Then the question becomes, is he going to be on that flight? And if not, now all of a sudden, this has turned into two weeks when it’s gone from preventative maintenance to, and I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves here, but you’re right, Tuesday feels like a pretty significant day. Um, just in the health and well-being of That Demco, his availability, even if he doesn’t play, like I’m not saying that he has to play, no. But is he able to back up? Because if he’s not able to back up for a third straight game, then you can call it whatever you want. It’s an injury, right? Like there’s no two ways around that. Well, I think in the beginning it was an injury and they said it was part of the plan. Yeah. Well, the injury can’t be part of the plan, but I hear you. I mean, again, they’re spending so much time twisting in the wind and bending over backwards trying not to call it uh an injury. Ultimately, their number one puck stopper missed a pair of games this weekend against the best team in the National Hockey League that, you know, he would have loved to have been able to be in there. Uh, that doesn’t happen unless there is some sort of injury, minor as it may be, but we’ll see. Um, we’ll see where he is on Tuesday. That’s all we can do at this point. But, uh, I’m with you. I I I kind of feel like this turns one of two ways on Tuesday if he’s not available uh for the Vancouver Conucks. So, in his absence, Kevin Lankin and thrown into a tough spot as we said, back to back and on the back end of the backtobacks uh facing the highest scoring team in the National Hockey League, the highest scorer in the National Hockey League. Um you know, I look at the goals here, and we’ve said this before with Lankin, like I think back to the Pittsburgh game. And there have been others where, you know, can you pinpoint a goal that you absolutely hated or you thought was like a really soft one? And I don’t think you can. I mean, the overtime goal is probably the worst of the five and you know, there’s a rebound. Basser kind of gets w puck watching there. Um, and Brinley’s able to slip it through the legs and and ultimately that wins the hockey game. But like I the quality of goals I didn’t have the issue with it’s the volume ultimately when you given up five again at the NHL level and that’s happened a few too many times now already this season to Lanken and these were extraordinary circumstances. So I don’t want to be too hard on the guy here. Yeah. But ultimately uh as we said I mean this team when they score four that like if you’re drawing up the blueprint for the Vancouver Canucks they can manage. We’ve talked about like who’s going to score the goals and can they score when they get four? You’d like to think that that’s enough to win the hockey game. Here it was enough to get them to overtime. So, they get a parting gift. They get something out of this thing. But, uh, again, if they’re giving up five, they’re not going to win very often. No, because that this team, I mean, look, they show the ability that they can score here against the Colorado Avalanche and, you know, put a couple in the net, you know, on on some nights here and there, but they’re not built to go chance for chance with every single team they play. It’s just it’s just not who they are. It’s not the way that this team is designed, you know, especially if guys in the top six aren’t aren’t scoring and then you’re not getting contributions in your bottom six for group. But um one last thing before we wrap up Demco. Um I did message someone this morning that wouldn’t definitely know and I said, “Hey, any idea if you know Demco is going to back up or dress or anything like that?” I don’t know. I know he felt fine, but he hasn’t seen shots in a few days. My guess is he wouldn’t dress. That was at about noon today. So they knew Kevin Lankin probably knew this morning at some point that he was going to start this hockey game. But um the the shots thing is interesting. you know, it’s if that really is the case and there’s going to be no practice time, so it’s going to have to be in a warm-up or game day skate or really he gets put through the ringer at some point tomorrow at at Rogers Arena. Yeah. And I thought that part was interesting, too. I asked Adam foot prior to the game today, you know, did Lankinan leave the building on Saturday night knowing that he was starting and Foot said no. That they told him to prepare as if he might start, but they said the decision wasn’t made until today. So that just kind of adds another layer of intrigue because it certainly wasn’t going to be Yuri Patera against the Colorado Avalanche. So Peter remains on the roster and maybe that will be the indication that Demco is good to go if we see at some point before Tuesday. But uh I think you keep Pero around just not knowing for certain that uh Alias or rather Thatcherco is 100% good to get back in there. Another super chat supporting the BC Mental Health Foundation from Demaniac Studios says, “Knowing Vancouver Media, he’s hurt after shots in the warm-up.” That feels like a shot at the Vancouver Media. What does that mean? I don’t get it. Knowing Vancouver Media, he’s hurt after shots in the warm-up. Thanks for your contribution, though. Appreciate that. We do like that. Yeah, I’m not totally certain where that one is going. All right. Uh, speaking of goalenders, Kevin Lankinan met the media at Rogers Arena after the 5-4 loss to the ABS in a busy weekend, but he still had a little after a little extra left uh to handle a few questions after this one. Here’s Kevin Lankin in postgame. Yeah, it’s always a challenge no matter who you who you’re playing in this league. So, uh I was I was happy to get the nod and uh battle my my butt off, try to help the team win. Did you feel any different back to back? I feel great. Um, you know, that’s what I’ve been working extremely hard over the years, not just this summer, but all this past summers. And got to give a lot of credit to my strength and conditioning team back home. Um, feel like I can play a third game here, too. Did you see tonight the team like a lot of things went right? You had a short-handed goal, you had a power play goal, took on the best team in the league and pushed into overtime. I mean, obviously, you wanted the win, but is this something this team can build on? I think so. Yeah, 100%. Um, I think we played really well against, like you said, one of the top teams in the league. Um, just went toe-to-toe and and could have easily won the game. Take us through the the overtime goal. Yeah, I know. That’s probably the one I wanted to to get back. Uh, I was trying to go for the puck, but I I couldn’t reach it and then it was too late. The final 10 seconds. You shot a lot of shots that it’s pretty impressive just to get it to overtime. Yeah, I mean that’s that’s my job. Try to help the team win when they when they need me the most. So, um, unfortunately it was only one play tonight, but we’re going to keep keep building here. Where does their puck movement rate? I mean, they play the game at more speed. They have how difficult is it to even track speed? They’re just so quick with their puck movement. How challenging is it, I guess, a team like that? Yeah, obviously they’re a great team with some some great talent. Um, hard to rate how how good they are, but uh it’s always, like I said, it’s every night is a good challenge and a good opportunity to learn and get better. Is there anything different that you prepare back to back like during the day when you found out you were going to be playing tonight? Is it is it different process when it’s a back to back? Not really. I mean, just just trusting the process, trusting the preparation uh that’s there. Um I felt really good going into the game and and throughout the game. So, uh keep keep working hard here. There you go. I liked the answer right off the top. He was like, I want to play a third one. You don’t get that chance. You might on Tuesday, but you’re not going three in a row here. As we said, Monday, full team day off. So, credit for Kevin Lankan and uh Stephanie in when called upon and as he said all that summer training and with his team, you know, you never know when backto-backs or circumstances like this one are going to come your way, but you put in the work to be ready uh when they do. And so, gave it the old college try again, as he said, we had thought maybe the the overtime one was the one that uh he didn’t love. He was asked about the final 15 or 20 seconds of regulation time. Oh my god. Yeah. Kale Mar like we get to watch Quinn Hughes on a nightly basis and I think we all know by now and the Norris Trophies uh we recognize like these are two of well they’re the two best defenseman in the National Hockey League but they do things differently and Marta does things at speed that that’s not necessarily Quinn’s game although Quinn has had speed bursts but that final 15 seconds of regulation was breathtaking And like Macar looked intent on winning the game outright on his own. What do you have three? He had three shots. He had three shots in the final 12 like the final 15 seconds of the game. It was unreal because you got the puck behind the net and I was like, “Uh-oh, this guy’s going to pull away from the first guy off the boards to himself. I can’t remember who it was that he beat at center ice and then skated right in backhander on Lanken and came around. The puck came around. We’re able to get a second shot off. Rebound came right back to him for a third. But yes, I mean, we can obviously see why he’s regarded as the best defenseman in the National Hockey League. And Quinn Hughes also, we get to see it every single night, how special he is. Zachensky saw it the other night. He’s also a very special defenseman in his in his own right. And um you know, it’s going to be fun to watch these guys. I mean, look, we’re getting way ahead of it. We get to see them here in a game, but it’s going to be so fun watching him with the Olympics. Oh. Oh, unbelievable. Yeah, you’re right. Sort of like I mean, Hughes in the car every time they go headto-head is a big deal, but the Wansky like that’s quite a weekend. if uh people were both of those games. I mean, you saw three of the very best, like elite uh defenseman in the National Hockey League doing their thing. They all played a ton. You look at the ice time for the three of them. Uh Quinn Hughes 27 minutes and 56 seconds on the back end of backtobacks and Mar was right there almost shift for shift 2734. Devon Taves at 24 minutes and 41 seconds. Philip Heronic played a ton as well. Another assist for Heronic. Uh Philonic’s kind of quietly had a really nice start to the season where Quinn Hughes missed some time with injury. Uh it’s been mixed for Marcus Berson and Tyler Meyers, but through it all, Philip Heronic just going about his business. He picks up his ninth assist in 17 games, so he’s better than half a point a game. um which when you think of like how much he plays and how much he plays with Quinn Hughes and he’s seeing second power played unit as well uh but he’s tracking and I think sort of given where he is this is the prime of his career like he should probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 40oint defense absolutely he throws a puck to the net good things do happen there as Philip Ronick did so I look he got more time to play when Quinn Hughes was out of the lineup those two should never be apart as partners I don’t think I think they tried the experiment it didn’t work. So, they will be doing it. But, you’re right. I mean, you want to see the little bit more offensive output from a guy like Philip Ronick who goes about his business obviously pretty quietly, but he does have a cannon of a shot and like if he gets that opportunity. I know there’s a lot of guys to pass in front of you, but sometimes just let it rip. Yep. Uh, in the chat, Gourd says, “Pretty cool to have a right-handed defenseman as skilled as Valander that the Canucks actually drafted.” And yeah, I mean it was pointed out when he made his debut a week ago that uh you got to go back to Frank Curado and before that Kevin found the you know guys that became NHL regulars that the Conucks drafted and developed themselves and obviously Frankie Curado moved on and played elsewhere and Baxa did at the end. And uh yeah, I mean it’s just such a short list of right-handed defenseman that have come up through the system and and you know, this guy’s a firstrounder. Obviously, this wasn’t his best night in the National Hockey League. Took the penalty that uh the ABS scored on, but uh still as he finds his way here, uh there are moments in every game where he’s just looking more and more comfortable. Uh this was 11 minutes and 41 seconds. Didn’t register a shot on goal. He did have one shot block, but uh you know he’s getting better before our eyes. And uh again, it’s going to be interesting when a guy like Victor Mancini gets the green light to get back in there. Mancini, Beluger, Leer Mackey, all part of the morning skate on Tuesday, all in non or rather on Saturday in non-cont jerseys. And we’ll see if that advances when we get back around the rink on Tuesday. I think Bluger is probably the closest of the three, although all three of them look pretty good. Like, I mean, the non-cont jersey tells you that they’re not imminent and none of them obviously played here. Um, but I do wonder about the upcoming road trip. And I also wonder too with both Mancini and and Leer Mackey, um, you get them down to Abbottzford to get some games in to sort of find their their footing again. Lacer Maki’s been out for three plus weeks. Not quite as long for Mancini, but you know, they’ve got Pio Joseph up here right now as a healthy scratch. It’s like, you know, if Mancini is cleared to play, you don’t want him just sitting in the press box and not playing. So, I would think that those two guys probably do go down to Abbottzford. And boy, would Abbottzford welcome uh any uh reinforcements right now, having gone winless in 10. So, it’ll be interesting to see. I think Bler of the three, he’s the guy that would get plugged right back into the NHL lineup. I just don’t know if that’s in the best interest of Leer Mackey after what will probably close to a month layoff, get him a couple of games maybe to get back up to speed and then uh see about bringing him back to the national hockey. But that’s just my speculation at this point. I haven’t heard that from anybody around the rink and uh they don’t have to make that decision right now. All three of those guys still remain on IR. Yeah. I mean, once they activate them, like, do they do it before the road trip and then you’re going to have to take these extra bodies with you? Because that’s three games on this road trip against some pretty big opponents or a few, sorry, more than three games on this road trip against some pretty big opponents. So, you might want your full arsenal of forwards or defenseman available to play. That’s just if you’re them. But, um, yeah, I mean, it’ll be it’s it’s a good problem to have when guys are getting closer to coming back into the lineup for sure. And Teddy Bluger can’t get back quickly enough. this penalty kill that has now been torched for 18 goals in 17 games. That is uh tops in the National Hockey League. No other team has given up that many power play goals. So uh you know on a night where yeah the Canucks score a short-handed goal and they get a power play goal of their own, but the ABS went two for three with the man advantage. And uh this one, you know, again, bizarre that for all the high power offense, Colorado didn’t score on the power play in Edmonton in the 9-1 win and their power play had one road goal prior to tonight. They came to Vancouver with one road power play goal. They leave town with three. All right, it’s time for our bet 365 line of the night. I turn things over to you. Where uh where are you looking on this one? Oh boy, we are going to oil country. We are going to oil country. And I’m going to take the Edmonton Oilers 100% minus one and a half against the Columbus Blue Jackets. I think they’re going to open a whole can of whoopass on the Columbus Blue Jackets. I think you can put McDavid down for two points. You can put Dry Sidle down for three. Like I think that is what is going to happen for the Edmonton Oilers against the Columbus Blue Jackets. And if it doesn’t And if it doesn’t, then there’s a lot more question marks around that team than we than we think. What of the first three go in at the Oilers? That’s true. Then they might be making phone call to some teams in the national hockey looking get rid of goalenders. And I like the Islanders. I really do vibes guy. I like that team. I like kind of the way that Yeah. both having a great season. Obviously Matthew Schaefer, Andre Lee, what they’ve got going there with Matthew Dar now at the helm. Really good different type of culture there in um on Long Island. So I like the two dog picks. So a couple of those plus 476. It’s a pretty good payday as this part portion of the show is brought to you by bet365. Whenever you bet, it’s never ordinary. A bet 365. Download the app, get in on the game, use code nation. Bet365 must be 19 or older. Please play responsibly. All right. He was a Colorado Avalanche is number 52. Is retired in fact by the ABS. Uh probably a little strange behind the bench looking I been behind the bench for a bunch of years here and seeing Colorado, but first time as a head coach facing the Colorado Avalanche. Uh curious to hear Adam Foot’s thoughts on the effort of his hockey club in the five-4 loss. Here is the Canucks head coach at the podium. Well, Adam, on the second half of a back-to-back power play goal, a short-handed goal and ultimately one point, how much did you like your team’s performance on a second straight night tonight? I like I like the resilience, especially, you know, they’re a team that capitalized on slight mistakes. Um, and you saw that they did and we were resilient. Uh, it was a good hockey game. Uh Drew O’ Connor has been scoring quite a lot lately and you know continues to play pretty well at both ends of the ice. How impressed have you been with him elevating his game here given some opportunity and and producing for your group as well? Yeah, he’s um using his body, you know, um he’s skating with the puck, making plays um hard to play against down low. He’s creating some separation for himself and it’s nice to see. What about Kevin? I know he’s going to be down about the overtime goal, but up until then with a team that was that skilled and him playing the second of back tobacks, it looked like he did a lot of good things tonight. Yeah, I think you’re right. He he, you know, he fights. He’s he’s resilient as well and we know he is. Uh he he’s a true pro. Um you know, those kind of things happen on a threeon three where, you know, you shoot through a forward and we kind of want to box out there. We actually in our three on three didn’t wedge twice which we’ve been doing the four previous um three on threes we kind of got off it right um you know which I don’t think any of that would have happened but that it happens at this level when you when you want to win so bad players want to get it done and sometimes they press too much so we’ll readress that but it’s it’s slight but when you’re playing against teams that you know they’re first in the league for a reason they’ve won a cup and probably should have you know maybe been close to another you know, they’ll make you pay on slight things and uh but we’re learning. Um and uh like back to, you know, Len, the guys feel good when he’s there cuz, you know, he he’s a fighter with Quinn, you know, obviously was going something through something earlier in the year. It it looks like his skating is now all the way back and he’s able to control play when he’s out there the way he used to. Are you seeing it that way? Yeah, he’s he’s driven. He seems uh fresh. I mean, he’s one of those guys that’s pushing all the time. Um, you know, last night he led us for sure and tonight he pushed hard. Um, it’s nice to see the pace he’s got he’s playing with. On the first avalanche goal, is that a case of the players not picking up a line change on the avalanche part to that? Not picking up that there were players coming in on the backside. We chased it deep with Marh behind the net. We we we can’t do that. It was It gave him time and space. um you know and uh they made room on separation. I think what happened with that is we kind of backed up as our neutral zone which you don’t want to do entirely. You want to catch speed and um you know they just had a little bit of separation. You saw what they did with it. All right. There you go. Adam Foot I think uh the way we thought he would see this hockey game that uh liked a lot of what he saw from his hockey club on the second of back to backs against the top team in the National Hockey League. The ABS have one outright loss. The Boston Bruins are the only team that has defeated the Colorado Avalanche in regulation time. Otherwise, the ABS picking up points everywhere they go. And what a weekend for them. But uh as we said, like again, there was a lot to like from the Vancouver Conucks. Can they build off it? Can they followed up and eliminated a few of the mistakes as they take on Winnipeg on Tuesday to wrap up the home stand? I guess we’ll have to wait until then. But uh uh this was not about effort. There have been some nights this year where we’ve kind of questioned the effort level. Uh but they were all in on the second of back to backs. Would that was that is that what you want to see then on Tuesday? Because I’m going to ask you what you like what you didn’t like. But what would you like to see them take forward to the next game? Was it effort or was it was it was it something else? Yeah. I I don’t think they want to get into track meets and exchange chances. Like that’s not who they are. Um but I guess I like everything about Drew Oconor right now. Uh, never said that before, but right now this guy is he’s fun to watch the way he’s going. I like to see that Jake De Brusk is starting to get on one of those streaks and I hope he can continue. Uh, because he’s got five and that’s fine. But Kefir Sherwood’s got 10. So, uh, he’s got a work a bunch of work to do to catch his teammate if he wants to lead the the Vancouver Conucks in goals. and for all the good all the digging in that we saw from Alias Patterson and I don’t want to let that slide like I want to acknowledge it but I do want to see some points as well and we said when you like compare and contrast to the weekend that Nathan McKinnon had that’s what the best players in the National Hockey League do and that’s what they look like and so you know Patterson had a point against Columbus and McKinnon had nine points over the 24-hour span. And I mean, look, we’re not going to sit here and say it’s great for blocking shots and winning faceoffs. Like there there’s more to the game and the the effort’s there. It’s it is coming. He’s firing the puck on at at almost at will and that’s kind of what you want to see. So hopefully that can move forward as well. Yeah, we really haven’t talked about Elias a lot tonight. Uh four shots on eight attempts. That part is great. Like there have to be way more nights where that is the norm. Um, and he had the one-timer at uh on the second in second period on power play. In fact, he had two shots on the same power play. Like those are baby steps, but it’s encouraging. He was working on his one-times at the end of warm-up, and I thought, okay, like putting in the time. Uh, will we see it? Yeah, we did. Ultimately, he wasn’t able to pull the trigger, but uh he was invested and and I think people recognize that now. Like nobody’s here saying he’s dogging it in any way. No, the effort level has been there really from day one, but it’s just a mystery how uh it it just it doesn’t translate to points at the other end of the ice. So, Monday is a full team day off for the Vancouver Conucks and then Tuesday, we await all eyes on the morning skate and that Demco. Uh and we’ll see if there are any of the injured guys as we said. Do they move out of the non-cont jerseys? Are they a possibility for Tuesday? We’ll find out. All that kind of stuff. And they’re gonna face a Winnipeg team that is coming here after getting smoked in California. And they they lose four to one. The Ducks have won seven in a row. Like look out. The Ducks are a wagon. And Leo Carlson scored again because he scores every night. Ducks are fun. Anaheim beat Winnipeg four to one. So the Jets are nine and six. a reasonable record through 15 games, but they lost three nothing in Los Angeles. Followed that up with a two-1 loss at San Jose and then four to one here. You add all that up, they got scored nine to two down in California. So, yeah, they’re not going to be in a great mood. It’s a six-game Pacific Division road trip. They’ve done the California part. Now, they come north. Uh they’ll play in Seattle. I think they’re in Calgary on Saturday, a hockey night game. They don’t play a home game again until November 18th. So, a week from Tuesday. It’s a a lengthy road trip for them. Mark Shley got off to an incredible start. Kind of let up here over the last three games, but he’s got nine goals and 20 points. Kyle Connor, another goal tonight. He’s got nine on the season. He’s got 18 points. And this will be the first time we see Jonathan Taves in the National Hockey League in Vancouver uh in a while. Uh and I totally forgot that Tanner Pearson Yeah. is a Winnipeg Jet. So, he’s played every game. He’s 33, but he’s still an every night guy in the National Hockey League. Um, no surprise. Jets are one of the best defensive teams in the league. Connor Hellabuk has started 11 of the 15 games. Eric Comry started tonight. So, that means that it’s probably going to be Hleuck. And you know who’s going to be in that for the Canucks because of that? Who I think is going to be for I mean that we had USA game tonight. Do we get uh Demco against Hellbuck on Tuesday? You’re all going to have to wait and see. But I I would suspect that Connor Hellbuck uh and his numbers are really good. Uh 2.30 goals against average, 922 save percentage. It was funny coming into the night Eric Comry hadn’t played much, but Comry actually had better individual statistics than Connor Hella. So they’re getting terrific goalending. That is not a surprise when it comes to the Winnipeg Jets. Uh but they ran into the Ducks and the Ducks right now are on fire. So Kucks in Winnipeg to wrap up the home stand on Tuesday night. And again, we’ll see if they can uh follow up four goals in each of these two games. Uh but they got to cut the goals against. They’re not going to win many when they give up five the way they did here. Gavin Brinley scores the winner in overtime. Colorado defeats the Vancouver Conucks 54 in OT on a fun night of hockey. Hopefully are more of those to come uh at the Raj. All right, that’s going to do it for us here rink wide. Reminder to follow us on all of our socials. Give us a subscribe.
