Things just got VERY Interesting… Multiple Raptors Updates | Raptors News
Things just got very interesting for the Toronto Raptors. As we know, this team has a ton of guard depth out there on this roster, but over the past couple days, we’ve been witnessing a few players out there for the Raptors 905 that are proving they are way beyond that right now. So, Bobby Webster has also made some interesting moves regarding the 905. We’ll break down those as well as how all this can affect the Jawar situation as we have some new updates regarding the Memphis Grizzly star point guard that are making a trade more and more inevitable. So, we’re going to break down all of this out here in this video. But folks, I appreciate all the support we’ve been getting as of late. This team has been a wagon right now and I appreciate everyone that’s all along for the ride. We are very very close to a massive milestone for the channel at 40,000 subscribers and still over 53% of our viewers have not hit the subscribe button just yet. So make sure you guys if you’re enjoying the daily Toronto Raptors content, hit that subscribe button cuz we’re delivering it here non-stop out here this season. But let’s dive into the news because there are some really interesting developments going on right now for this Toronto Raptors team. And it uh really starts out there with uh this G-League squad that’s played a couple games out there over the weekend. And there are some players that are just absolutely shining. And the first guy that of course everyone expect everyone knows is beyond a G-League player, but isn’t a lot of minutes out there for the Toronto Raptors right now. And it’s AJ Lawson, who out there in the G-League is playing, you know, averaging 22 points per game. You showing only 33% from the three-point line, but he is just a bucket getter, playing good defense, doing all this stuff. him and Tyreek Key have really put up some really strong performances out there at the wing position. And you know, two guys that, you know, having the prospect pool, of course, AJ Lson’s on a two-way contract. He is just a pure 905 player. Two guys that are very much uh very very intriguing for the squad. But in terms of their skill sets, it’s a little bit redundant when you look at the main roster, how the Raptors are set up, the skill sets, the immediate needs for AJ Lawson to get called up and stuff isn’t that imminent. You know, you have RJ Barrett on the wings, you have Jacobe Walter, you have Cody Dick, you have even O Chi Baji, James De Bell who can put the ball in the hole. So, you know, there’s not that much room for another bucket getter, another scorer to have right now. Of course, moves happen, trades happen and stuff. It’s great to have those types of guys to be able to call up and fill some of that production because, of course, those guys certainly don’t grow on trees, even though they are loaded at that uh spot for the Toronto Raptors right now. We’ve known for years the Raptors struggled having guys that could pass, dribble, and shoot out there on their wings. And now the Raptors have a ton of them. So, it’s great to see that out there in the Raptors 905. But the place that this gets really interesting. It makes almost darker Aryokovic’s job a little bit tougher because, you know, he has to manage all these players, manage all these guys is the players that do some things that are more relevant to what the Toronto Raptors need. And one of those guys is Chucky Heert, man. because this dude has been a demon defensively. And yes, the Raptors point guard spot is also loaded here now with Jamal Shed and Emanuel Quickley. But Heburn right now is playing at a level on the defensive end that cannot be ignored. And you know, if you take a look at the stats, it’s not overwhelming the numbers he’s putting up. You have one really strong game, one weaker game out there on the offensive end, at least out there for the 905, averaging eight points per game. But you know, in that uh you know, the box score is not going to indicate it. You watch the highlights. You watch this dude play. Man, this dude is an absolute demon out there on the defensive end. And like Murphy said it best saying that Chucky Heard referring just what I said. He’s an absolute monster defensively right now for the Raptors 905. And it is clear that this dude is doing everything that he can to you get back out there and earn his spot, carve a spot out there in this Raptors rotation. And if you have some concerns at the point guard spot, having Chucky Heper out there at that third string point guard, especially if trades are happen, you’re trading for a guy that’s more of an injury suspension risk at John Morant. You know, an interesting piece to have out there in the mix, but he has played really well. And another guy that, you know, the Raptor second round pick, Elijah Martin, is averaging 17.5 points per game. And he is really showing an ability to be aggressive on defense, locked in, and do the things that are needed out there for a role player out there in the NBA. Because, you know, looking at Elijah Martin, what he does differently than a Grady Dick, than a Jacobe Walton, then Jameson Battle is lock down defense. He can slash, he can dunk, he can space the floor a little bit, and he’s showing an ability to have offensive prowess, but really just an intense defender, a dog out there on the wings. And you know, him and Heburn, I think, are the two guys that as the roster is right now, if we’re looking at it as is, can earn and squeak their way out there into the Darker Rayakovich rotation, which is very, very encouraging because we know, again, knock on wood, everything stays healthy and stuff, but this team, as any NBAU team, is going to be dealing with at least some minor injuries here and there. And Chucky Epern as well as Elijah Martin are proving that they can be two guys that deserve at least a shot when their name is called, when they’re, you know, given a certain opportunity. So, very encouraging stuff for the Raptors 95. We’ve also had some moves being made as Jonathan Mobos rejoined the Toronto Raptors after the Raptors 95W. So, uh Jonathan Mo is back up with the main group. Of course, we’ve been talking about for days now how the Raptors need more depth at the center position. Mobo is still very undersized, but another body you can throw out there at the center spot. So, uh nice to see Bobo back, especially with Yaka Purle dealing with uh some still some back issues here now uh at the stretch. And one thing that should be finally noted out there for the 905 is uh Olari Shamsh was caught out there courtside watching the Raptors 905 play supporting the team and supporting this group. Man Shamsh healthy and hopefully he still we haven’t had many updates out there in his return to play protocols. He was cut by the Toronto Raptors due to health concerns about his ability to even play in the NBA. Not just the Raptors but dealing with uh what’s rumored to be some clotting issues and stuff or what is similar to happen to Christian Koko. So, we are wishing Olar Shamsh the best and it’s nice to see him still around the Raptors group because he in theory is exactly what the Toronto Raptors need. A lowcost, very athletic rim protecting big man that might not be perfect out there in the offensive end, still requires some development, but can be a sevenfooter that we have underneath the rim. So, his absence has definitely been felt for the Toronto Raptors this season because he is exactly what this team needed as a depth signing, as an insurance big man that can be developed and grow with this group. So nice to see him still around the Toronto Raptor system and being in the mix and all of that. So all Sham Shades there, that’s the stuff on the 905. But how does this impact, you know, as I alluded at the start, you know, this whole John Morant situation because the Raptors have been rumored for Jaw Morant for the last little while and there’s been some chatter, some buzz. I made a ton of videos on it, but people are really pointing to John Morant right now and they’re talking about some saboturing going on the same way Vince Carter did with the Toronto Raptors. People are accusing John Morant of being in that bucket because right now he’s in the his most recent game put up 11 points, eight assists, three rebounds, but three of 18 shooting from the field and plus minus of minus 23. And this has Raptors fans split in terms of what’s really going on. Is this more encouraging for a Jaw trade or not? Because that’s a horrible stat line. You don’t want John Moran to come in and be that inefficient and be that bad for this group. of course, but if he is throwing the season right now and he is just tanking his trade value, you have a buy low opportunity. You know, in in trades, you want to be able to acquire players at their lowest value so they can rise up, shoot up, you know, to go up to their peaks. And trading for John Morant right now, it looks like he’d have no less to none trade value out there at that point. And of course, Emanuel Quickley has been on the upswing a little bit. He’s been playing better. He’s knocking down some shots as of late and stuff. And you know, John Morant, the stats, again, especially the three-point shooting this season has been abysmal. 15% from the three-point line, the Raptors do need some floor spacing given our current roster construction. But if you are under the assumption that John Morant is more just disengaged, needs a change of scenery to bounce back, it is an opportunity of a lifetime to acquire him. But you also have those risks because uh you know, Emanuel Quickley has been playing better, especially on the offensive end, and John Morant is uh not been that great. Now you get one additional year of flexibility if you end up doing one of these deals where uh it ends up sending out Emanuel Quickly for John Mar because John Morance’s contract expires 2728. Manuel Quickley goes uh to the 2029 season. So you get an additional year of flexibility on the cap situation and stuff. So that is one thing to be encouraged by. I know a lot of people are disappointed in Emanuel Quickley’s contract right now, but it’s uh to some would say it’s making things tougher. you know, John Morance’s poor performances, but others are saying, “Okay, it makes it easier. We might not even have to throw in a first to get to get acquire John Morance’s contract. His trade value is slim to none.” So, it’s very interesting developments going on. And the Raptors currently in terms of uh the odds of making one of these trades happen are still fifth overall. There hasn’t been much movement. We are behind the Heat, the Rockets, the Nets, and the Kings, but not that much separation. It’s very tightly packed race in terms of John Morance’s next team. Let me know in the comment section down below if you guys would like to see the Raptors trade for John Mor. But you guys the best. Uh, make sure to subscribe to the channel. Got that goal of 40,000 subscribers just around the corner. Anyways, I’m signing out. Cheers.
The Toronto Raptors have a serious ammount of depth at the guard position, and that has become even more evident over the past couple of days with some breakout performances from top prospects. Ben Rogers breaks this down as well as some interesting developments regarding Ja Morant.

No one from the g league is gonna do anything for the raptors waste of breathe 😎
Get rid of quickly
Ochai doesn't even look like he could make the 905. Absolutely USELESS out there. We are playing 4 on 5 when he is on the floor.
Chucky with 5 spg.
I hope Chomche comes back into the fold once his health concerns are addressed. Hes still ridiculously young.
AJ would fit way better than Ja'Kobe right now. I think JK needs the reps in the G-League.
You shead at the 1 and Quickley at the 2. BI at the 3, Scottie at the 4 and Jacob at the 5.
Then you run second lineup of Chucky, Gradey, RJ, CMB and Sandro. Rotate in Ja'Kobe, Ochai, Jaimeson and Mogbo for relief minutes.
I think that Webster is shopping Gradey
SO TRADE SOME OF THIS DEPTH AND GET THAT 7 FOOT RIM PROTECTOR . COME ON BOBBY GET OFF YOUR ASS AND STOP LETTING GAMES SLIP AWAY . WHY BRING MOGBO UP AND NOT LAWSON . WHAT THE HELL !! MOGBO DOES NOT FIT THIS TEAM. HE IS NOT A ADEQUATE CENTRE. GET THAT 7 FOOTER !
@benrogers go look at ja morants stats last 4 years and his advance stats on winning like vorp bpm and winshare. its clear ja morant is on the decline now. he isnt as twitchy or fast and his vertical isnt as high now. small guards age badly. especially ones that cant shoot and play poor defence.
The 905 are crushing teams so far. Two games in and their average victory is around 30 points. LMFAO!
Yes we should trade for Ja Morant. Darko worked with him closely when he was assistant coach of Grizzlies 2020-'23. Ja was in his prime then and Grizzlies were 2nd in west b2b years. If anyone can unlock his full potential it's Darko.
Buy low to sell high
It’s so funny cuz the dudes they sent to the 905 will be more productive than Grady, ochai and Ja Kobe… replace all those guys are play AJ, battle and chucky!
Ochai Agbaji (6.3 million) for Nick Richards (5 million) works in the trade checker and makes sense.
We need a solid center. a Marc Gasol type!
The Raptors will go nowhere without a star caliber center.
Morant peaked in year 3 dude. He cant shoot and doesnt play defense.
The guy is a malcontent. He will ruin chemistry.
Morant is toxic. Last thing we need is an expensive drama case
I’m still one of the people that think Hepburn will be better than Shead. Why ? He’s a better shooter and he actually knows how to run an offense. As good as Shead is defensively he doesn’t know how to run an offensive. Against the sixers this was more than evident. How many times did we hear Jack say the raptors had nothing going on there and the sixers bailed them out ? This was anlmost always when Shead was on the floor. He struggles with creating for others. There’s a lot focus on not having another center but another problem people are ignoring is not having PG’s that can actually run an offense. Neither Quickley or Shead can do that and the closest thing we have to PG that can run an offense is Hepburn. For those that don’t know what running an offense is just look at when Lowry was here, look at when Jose was here. PG’s that can run an offense make the game easier especially for players struggling like Gradey, Walter, Agbaji ect.. Remember how Lowry made Bismack look like borderline allstar ? When is the last time you even seen an alley oop thrown by any of the PG’s that wasn’t on a fast break ? 🤔 the offense needs to work even harder because of Quickely and Shead’s inability to run a offense and this could be a huge problem in the playoffs. Quickley is a shooting guard playing PG.
I will never understand the hype behind Mogbo. Why do we need him when already have CMB ? Why do we need a poor man’s CMB ? he’s just another player we’re easing time on like that David Johnson guy we drafted. Once his contract runs out and we release him you won’t see him in the league again. Remember who called it.
Not a good raptors news day. 1) Still no movement on addressing centre issues. Bringing Mogbo back up does less than nothing.
2). How many time does Lawson have to prove himself and still get put behind Agbaji, Walter and Dick who are dragging the Raps down???
3). One more time, NO! To Morant. If his tanking stats are on purpose, why would we want someone who would do that to his team and fans? If they are for real, why would we want that? This guy is a bag of problems.
JUST GET A BIG AND CLEAR THE DEADWOOD OFF THE BENCH AND GIVE OUR G LEAGUE STARS A CHANCE.
Only bright spot right now is that I am having fun watching the G League!
Love guards, if I could have a 2 bigs and 3 Shaed/Lowry/Pritchard types on the floor at once, I'd do it, then have at least 3 guards ready on the bench – basically I'd do w/o the SF position. Hard working, nose to the ball, dripping in heart, running the floor like jack (armstrong) rabbits, determination to the point where getting beat isn't an option (and if it happens, it burns deep in their pride). I rather right now, ChuckE and Martin than Agbaji and Walter (I know Walter is a guard, but he does NOTHING!). Lawson should have never been sent down!
Bobby can’t trade for center and now Morant I don’t think so who would trade with him unless he would give up Barnes and 3 1st rd picks…. Webster should be fired before he does something stupid ….
Liked Hepburn from Day One of the Summer League, particularly his defensive IQ.. His shot shows good form and he knows how to move around the court to get open shots for himself and his teammates. I find he's more methodical than the bulldog Shead is, which would make a good change of pace if he becomes part of the rotation. I'm hoping he's not on Memphis' radar in any trade talks for Morant.
